COLLINS HAILS CRAIG GORDON

JOHN COLLINS has admitted the dramatic return of Craig Gordon has “amazed” everyone at Celtic.

The Hoops assistant boss saluted the 32-year-old comeback keeper after his career looked in jeopardy after serious injury.

However, Gordon has taken over from £10million man Fraser Forster and is also back in the international fold, winning a first cap in four years against England in November.

Collins told the club website: “Craig’s been an incredible signing. In all honesty, he’s surprised and amazed everyone.

“Not that he’s a great goalkeeper, but that’s he came back so quickly to what he was before after being out for over two years. From his first game, he has never looked like he has been away.

“He’s so calm, composed and is assured. He just spreads confidence throughout the boys in front of him. He’s a great example on the training pitch.

“He’s always trying to get better and always watching videos of himself with goalkeepeing coach Steve Woods, assessing his performance and seeing how he could better.

“And that’s someone who is 32. Goalkeepers can go on ’til their 40, so, hopefully, he has plenty of years left.

“He is lean and fit and week in, week out, he plays to a very high standard.”
