St Mirren have won eight points from their four post-split games, second only to Celtic in that respect. Fifth place and a European spot looked out of reach just a month ago, but as Saints bagged those points, Dundee United have lost all games. The Tannadice club cling onto the European spot by a single point.
This means we can expect Stephen Robinson’s side to be in combative form at Celtic Park tomorrow. With the league title already secured, Brendan Rodgers will be mindful of next week’s Scottish Cup Final, with all its historic consequences. His trepidation will be heightened by the injury to Reo Hatate during Wednesday’s combative game.
That should mean we see a similar line-up to Wednesday. James Forrest, Yang and Johnny Kenny leading the line, with Maik Nawrocki and Auston Trusty flanked by Anthony Ralston and Jeffrey Schlupp at the back.
Luke McCowan and Paulo Bernardo would both benefit from more game time to see if they can build on the good work at Pittodrie, while Callum McGregor is certain to start what is a celebratory day. Viljami Sinisalo has impressed over the last two months, but if Brendan intends to play Kasper Schmeichel in the Cup Final, he should play tomorrow. Cobwebs were evident against Hibs last week, another outing would help the keeper.
Enjoy the sunshine on Trophy Day.

We all know what ‘combative’ means in a Scottish fitba context . Do we play last Wednesday’s team or something closer to the cup final team with the risk of other key players joining Reo on the ‘assaulted in action’ category ?
Play the first team. Apart from those carrying knocks.
Use the squad properly.
Go for the scoring record, lets not have a sterile match.
I personally do not class Saint Mirren as a dirty team.
Injury free 90 minutes is my only wish from this game.
Well done the Champions.
If Reo is unfit for the final, tricky call to be made on Luke or Paulo.
IMHO, you get more consistency from Paulo but less flash.
in previous years to celebrate Celtic’s title success in Merchant City and Trongate.
Police Scotland has issued a warning as large crowds are expected to gather in Glasgow city centre this weekend.
Officers say a “proportionate” policing plan is in place as thousands are expected to celebrate Celtic’s title success in the Merchant City and Trongate areas.
Assistant chief constable Mark Sutherland asked people not to gather in large groups.
Celtic play St Mirren on Saturday afternoon and will be presented with the Scottish Premiership trophy, which in previous years has been followed by crowds descending on the city centre.
Four police officers were injured and 19 arrests were made for “various offences” during disorder in the city on May 19, 2024.
Meanwhile, the Glasgow County Grand Lodge Orange Walk is also expected to take place on Saturday.

A number of roads are due to be closed, with thousands of people marching through the city.
Police are warning those gathering to “ensure their behaviour does not negatively impact businesses or those looking to enjoy our city”.
Assistant chief constable Sutherland said: “We are aware of concerns regarding events in Glasgow on Saturday, May 17 with large crowds expected to gather.
“I’d like to reassure the public we are working closely with our partners at Glasgow City Council to minimise disruption to the wider community and a proportionate policing plan is in place, with a focus on public safety.
“We respect the right to public assembly, however it is everyone’s responsibility to ensure their behaviour does not negatively impact businesses or those looking to enjoy our city.
“Please do not gather in large groups and be respectful of those around you.
“If you are planning to visit Glasgow City Centre on Saturday, it will be much busier than normal.

“There is also likely to be increased usage of public transport, so make travel arrangements in advance.”
Glasgow City Council said in a statement: “We want supporters of every team in Glasgow to be able to celebrate their successes but ask fans – including those visiting the city – to please avoid disruptive mass gatherings at Merchant City / Trongate and other public places.
“These events and others like them have consistently led to disorder – causing significant disruption for the local community and businesses.
“Damage to buildings and infrastructure robs the public purse of hundreds of thousands of pounds that would otherwise be spent on the essential services we all rely on.
“Enjoy trophy day, but respect the city and your neighbours. Do not attend unsafe and disruptive gatherings in public places like Merchant City / Trongate.”

over 200 Orange walks a year in Scotland. Not disruptive at all.
Trophy day in glasgow, actually only means one thing – Celtic celbrating.
The problem is the neighbours cant take and in reality are having a counter demonstrating.
Was VE day itself not an illegal gathering ?

Anyone know why Sky Sports 3 are now not showing game ?
………………
Yes I posted about this last night. I checked SKY Sports Main Event who showed their intention to show the game in their programme listings earlier in the week have now dropped it. I checked again this morning and their listings indicate that they are showing the EFL League 2 play off game.
Glasgow City council have granted permission for 51 separate Orange Walks on one day – 6th July.
VE Day is a celebration of freedom.
Freedom to walk and freedom to gather.
I suspect that it won’t only be the game that’s combative.
Sky sports football (HD) 11:30 Saturday 17 May
Celtic v St. Mirren.
The Scottish Premiership is awarded with the league flag ceremony on the last of every season.
Someone hasn’t done their job ?
does anyone know when they are parading the best pitch trophy ?
now that their home season is over they can maybe finish the copland road concourse.
hearing that their next manager is peps wee brother.
I thought we were told it was a 12:30 kickoff to accommodate Sky. If they have dumped us I’m not surprised, they have no respect for the Scottish game and only interested in the “OF’ game!
Sky sports football (HD) has “no listing available ” for tomorrow, so god knows what it’s showing 🤷
Ewan Murray’s piece that’s just gone up on the Guardian website is a masterpiece in resentment. His wish for “someone outside the top two” to win a Scottish title is a paper-thin facade. There was no such article after the Huns’ Covid title. The thing is, there’s a whole constituency of English football fans that only get their views about Scottish Football from churnalists like him, and who think his stuff is impartial. Quite shocking that the Guardian never keeps employing him.
*keeps
I have checked again ,there is nothing on sky sports to show the game is being on live.
Sky sports 3 is blank HH
SKY mibbees waiting to hear from Police Scotland
Sky sports Celtic fixtures.
Orange walks are for the majority of the Scottish population.
Wait until you see it when Reform UK become the Scottish Government.
Because the Scottish majority of voters want rid of woke tranny anti Women time wasting crooks like Snp/Greens/Labour/Liberals.
Who are only looking after themselves whilst beautiful Scotland has been turned into the HIGHEST TAXED trash can in the Western World.
Closely followed by the Irish trash can.
Kelly, I think you meant to post that on Truth Social.
Went in to watch a very off-colour Western United take on and lose 3-0 to Marco Tilio’s Melb City tonite.
Who da hell at Celtic sanctioned the signing of young Marco ? Was it a Markball project ?
Nice feet and trickery; but so did Gary Mackay Stevens in flashes !
Also, while the Don’s new Aussie signing Milanovic is an energetic goalscorer, I don’t think it’s the right club for him to flourish.

Fassreifen on 16th May 2025 1:32 pm – Farage is not for me.
Reform UK is not for me.
This fella speaking, David Clews, is not for me, in a lot of ways, and what school he went to is none my concern either, because I’m a traditional real Celtic fan, not one of these new wave bitching whining Green Tinted Lazy Bigots smearing everybody who isn’t on their knees kissing Celtic’s ass.

But if he speaks truth like he has about Trump, Starmer, Galloway, Corbyn, Sturgeon, Salmond, Gaza, Ukraine, Isreal, Ukraine, US, Immigration, Covid, Lockdowns, Vaccines, Toxic Skys, etc.
Then I want to hear his truth.
Here he is talking about Reform UK coming in SECOND in a bye Election in Clydebank last night, whilst Tims bawl their eyes out about Orange Walks.
…and Chemtrails no doubt.
There’s a mural in the stairwell at Celtic Park. It says “Celtic: founded by immigrants, refugees welcome.” I don’t remember there being any small print underneath.
Sorry IF this is a SILLY Question ….IF the Celtic v St Mirren game Tomorrow is ONLY available on SKYs HD Channel, will I still be able to watch it on my Smart TV ?
As far as I am aware, I have NEVER watched anything in ” HD”.

Hatate out of Cup Final
“ Gers too big for Davide Anceloti ‘
Keith Jackson
Everyone could see that was a shitty challenge on Reo. The Bhoys leg was just dangling out there. The 4th official wouldn’t even give our manager and physios the space they needed to look after their player. That is a big loss to our midfield, but a big opporchancity for someone to step up and live the dream again. Our fans are being set up for a fall tomorrow and only one side will be to blame if and when the trouble starts. I told my classes that I have never seen a banana do the splits, nor an apple crumble, but I sure have seen many an orange walk!!!!!
Stay safe Celtic fans
