‘COME AND GET ME, CELTIC’
GRONINGEN defender William Troost-Ekong has revealed he would LOVE to play for Celtic.
The Hoops are poised to raid the Dutch club for the second time in two years after paying £2.6million for Virgil Van Dijk in June 2013.
Central defender Troost-Ekong, a former Spurs and Fulham youth player, welcomed the possibility of a move to the SPFL champions.
The 21-year-old, currently on loan at Dordrecht, said: “‘Of course, I am flattered to be linked with Celtic.
“It’s a big club and I only knew about the interest yesterday.
”I enjoyed my football in the United Kingdom and definitely if the right opportunity comes I would seriously consider returning.
”There has been no contact, nothing that know of, but I would love to play for The Bhoys.
”Celtic is a massive club and, like I said, if the opportunity to play somewhere like that arose, I would love to.”
Troost-Ekong added: “‘I have watched a lot of games involving Celtic because it’s a Champions League club.
”And having travelled to Glasgow in the past before, I have seen how passionate the supporters are.
”There has been interest from other teams, but nothing concrete yet.”
The classy back-four operator is on Ronny Deila’s radar with the possibility of Van Dijk quitting Parkhead on a big-money move to the English top flight at the end of the current campaign.
Jason Denayer, who has partnered the Dutchman in the heart of the rearguard for the bulk of the season, will return to Manchester City when his loan contract expires in the summer.
