Come to Celtic, we’ll make you a superstar

412

Moussa Dembele made the most of his debut opportunity for France under-21s yesterday. Arriving as a second half substitute, he soon won a penalty for France’s third and scored their fourth goal. The world has changed for Moussa since coming into the Celtic team for the injured Leigh Grifiths and scoring a hat-trick against Newco less than a month ago.

This is great news for the player but at a time when Celtic are pitching the opportunity to other young players to come to Celtic Park instead of sitting in the development teams of an English club, it’s just as good news for the player.

Moussa isn’t any better than he was at Fulham last year. Had he stayed, or moved to an English Premier League club, none of this would have happened. The move to Celtic has been career-changing within two months of the new season starting.

Telling Moussa’s story, and that of Fraser, Virgil and Victor, will be done again and again whenever Celtic track a player. “Come to Celtic, we’ll make you a superstar” is the mantra.

I see a bit of chat on the review of how away tickets are distributed.  Celtic have asked for input from lots of fans on this in recent weeks.  There are a few areas that aren’t working as well as they could at the moment, so the consultation is a good step.

Save your pity for the souls of those deceased Christians who in their own time indulged in such behaviour.

  2. ernie lynch,

Are you talking individuals or a Religion itself?

I think too much Karl Marx has entered into your Critical Thinking.

Your Love of Birds is obvious. I always read yer jibber jabber.

  3. I always find it somehow ironic and amusing (in equal quantities) that people think they have a God-given right (sic) to attack someones religious faith and expression of that belief. It is quite often passive/aggressive.

These are often the same proponents of freedom of speech and liberal ideas.

However, I wonder what the reaction would be if other people were shown open hostility or (verbally) attacked because of their lack of faith or belief?

    Just a thought ……….

  9. Bobby – hope you get ‘home’ safe and well. Thanks for organising the Hoot. That was my 1st proper one. Met some of the troops before but i don’t consider that 2 Hoots :-)

As for my post earlier…BRTH/HT/Minx brought that particular memory crashing back into my consciousness (thanks guys :-) and i had to unburden it pretty damn quick.

However it does highlight what happens to the homeless in extremis.

Once again, thanks and hope to catch you again next time.

For centuries Christians persecuted people of other denominations and religions ostensibly for religious reasons.

You need to get a sense of historical perspective.

Otherwise you risk becoming a ranting bigot.

  11. Another opinion on the away tickets proposals: for various reasons I have been unable to travel to away games (at home and in Europe) over the last number of years.

However, in the past, I have followed Celtic home and away and when I lived in England regularly came back to Scotland to see the bhoys.

Now I find myself in the position where my access to tickets for the bulk of away games and all European games is pretty much removed because I haven’t been a regular attender in recent seasons. The current allocation policy makes it almost impossible for someone like me to break into the regular band of followers, therefore, selfishly, I would be for a modification of the away ticket scheme.

I think you will find that any human collective (religious, political, cultural, ethnic, political or national) has at some historical point been responsible for atrocities visited on other individuals and groups with a different perspective. It’s not the sole remit of organised religion.

Following the outrageous criminality at the recent deidco game,up to their knees in destruction and sectarian/racial hatred,Police Scotland released photographs of ten people they wish to trace.

All ten seemed to be sitting fairly quietly in their seats.

    All ten were Celtic suppporters.

We aren’t actually living in a time of exceptional depravity and brutality?

    I’m glad you agree.

  24. Am i right in saying Celtic are flush… loads of money??? Is that correct?

Am I right in saying that for Celtic to pay the living wage it would cost the club 500,000 pounds of sterling???

Am I right in saying that Celtic, although they are quite flush, off the backs of the hard pressed supporters, continue to shaft the spirit of ‘An Gorta Mor’.

    My heart weeps.
