Come to Celtic, we’ll make you a superstar

Moussa Dembele made the most of his debut opportunity for France under-21s yesterday. Arriving as a second half substitute, he soon won a penalty for France’s third and scored their fourth goal. The world has changed for Moussa since coming into the Celtic team for the injured Leigh Grifiths and scoring a hat-trick against Newco less than a month ago.

This is great news for the player but at a time when Celtic are pitching the opportunity to other young players to come to Celtic Park instead of sitting in the development teams of an English club, it’s just as good news for the player.

Moussa isn’t any better than he was at Fulham last year. Had he stayed, or moved to an English Premier League club, none of this would have happened. The move to Celtic has been career-changing within two months of the new season starting.

Telling Moussa’s story, and that of Fraser, Virgil and Victor, will be done again and again whenever Celtic track a player. “Come to Celtic, we’ll make you a superstar” is the mantra.

I see a bit of chat on the review of how away tickets are distributed.  Celtic have asked for input from lots of fans on this in recent weeks.  There are a few areas that aren’t working as well as they could at the moment, so the consultation is a good step.

  1. Pity it wasn’t their second that came first. Beautiful finish by Hazard from an exquisite ball by Mertens.

Delaney’s , musically , its been a very good night on the television.

I never went to see Bob Marley’s last concert at the Apollo in 1980 as the tickets were a fiver , twice the price of tickets to see other bands that played there.

My biggest regret , music wise, I have.

I put the miser in miserable.

  6. Nothing cynical about Mikael Lustig. He’s a great Tom who understands and loves Celtic. I hope he gets a deal for another couple of years and becomes a coach with us. He’s a Celtic great.

You think? Happy to see him come back to some sort of form, still a liability imo. Anyway, will find out if he’s a great Tim when PL tries to trim £5k off his wages much like the ‘prodigal son’.

  9. Dallas, love the fact that the Style Council were the last band to play the Apollo…..before it was demolished.

Song in the charts by them at the time…’Walls come crumbking down’

In ’78 it was £1.50 to see Sham69, i was too young obviously :-)

I had saved my pennies up and bought a ticket for Simple Minds for about £2 at the time of the Bob Marley gig. A fiver was impossible for a 3rd year schoolbhoy. :)

Right, I know I keep banging on about this and many people will be sick to death of reading my posts but please please PLEASE watch this wee video clip.

The Celtic Charity Foundation’s sole purpose is to make a difference to those that are far less fortunate than me or you and most people we know.

So if you can, please support me or HT or Mynx or anyone else taking part in the charity sleepout to help the needy this winter. Guys like Neil just fell on hard times and personal tragedy and they need OUR help and a helping hand.

It is what our club was designed to do from the off.

  14. Sure I have said this before, but the problem with religion is………..

    instead of believing in religion………

……we behaved the way religion taught us.

So glad it wasnt me being a tadger(s) this morning, for a change. Read the above and be the religion you profess instead of talking about your religion.

You were thinkin of the Genius Shane MacGowan’s first band. Easy to mix two Tims like him and Jim Kerr up. Do you know Charlie Burchill’s family in Knightswood? They went to Saint Bam’s wi us.

Its not so outrageous as sad that in 21st Century Glasgow in the midst of such civilized and educated people we have malnutrition, homeless and old people freezing to death.

For those earlier, Ricky Burns was brought up with his grandmother and always has her rosary beads on at weigh-ins, his brother doesn’t follow the same team as any of us, not that that matters

Well done Ricky bhoy in your wee victory the night, enjoy your MacDonalds

I know what he said this summer is now been used against by some but it was 100% true. Barton on his game is by a distance the best player in this country. Its now down to joey and Warburton to get those levels out of him…

If Kranjcar’s on his game then Barton isn’t close.

He is far more polite than any of the scheme bhoys I know (me)…. I don’t know Ricky at all but 3 brothers who boxed out of the Barn, where Ricky started, i know really well, and by all accounts he is a total gentleman, my missus thinks the world of him, think he was in Tesco after one of his big fights and asked her what time the Sunday papers got delivered,it was about 5am in the morning obviously couldn’t sleep and must have won :-)

and as far as I know not one person has a bad word too say about him in this neck of the woods

  24. DD- no didn’t know that. Got me thinking though.

Mags- used to work in an office on Newton Place (Sauchiehall Street) in the 80’s and it was a particularly cold winter. I opened up one morning from lane in back and an old boy had froze to death in the night against our back door.It was a long time ago but i can still remember the anger that day. I remember his face and how he sat. He was surrounded by shelter that wouldn’t allow him entry. No one should face that. No one. But here we are 30 years on and the problem is worse.

One thing that messed with my brain was that he had a tattoo that said ‘Molly’ on his wrist. Always wondered bout that. Mother, daughter, wife? Who claimed him?
