Commons and football intelligence

1244

Kris Commons return to the Celtic team on Sunday was enormously welcome, even if it didn’t produce his first goal of the season.  Kris has had a wretched season after arriving with a bang from Derby County in January last year.

He is not the most athletic or skilful player in the team but he has an abundance of football intelligence, well in excess of his contemporaries.  The cross-field pass for the second goal against St Johnstone was a perfect example.  Celtic players were rushing forward on a break, while defenders were flooding back.  To the annoyance of many sitting around me, Kris slowed things down, surveyed the field and switched play to Ki on the opposite wing.

This has been a great and memorable season for Celtic but there remains plenty to do.  An hour or so watching Kris Commons is enough to demonstrate the way forward.

Not as far as I know but I’m beginning to wonder what the hold up is. Are they still weighing evidence/arguments or has a decision been reached but not documented?

If the latter why not make statement saying what the decision is and that the final justification will be available by xx/x/xxxx?

HMRC might then be able to make a statement about their position and allow proceedings to actually proceed.

The SFA know this. Therefore, every time a politician sticks his or her oar in, it must make it more likely that the SFA will resist any temptation to afford Rangers any undue help.

    ————————-

I wish I could see it that way. I think, not only do they see it as a price worth paying, it’s actually a desirable outcome to have Celtic kicked out of Europe, with all that that entails.

Auld Neil Lennon heid – Time is an illusion anyway, created by death.

Time is real. It is an inevitable expression of the remorseless yet mysterious logic of the expanding universe, ever since the so-called “Big Bang” (which was really a Wee Bang, a mere back garden firework show on one of the branes of the multiverse).

Or, as one of the greatest of your Earth scientists put it:

Time flies like an arrow, fruit flies like a banana.

    Death is the illusion. (thumbsup)

Actually I used to have a couple of mates who played for them. One if I am not mistaken played for Dundee United against Manchester United, he missed the penalty that put Dundee out… Gerry (?).

  15. I watched the Chelsea -Benfica game on RTE last night.

As the teams were lined up, the commentator, George Hamilton, referred to the Portuguese team as, The Lions of Lisbon, before correcting himself to say, Eagles.

    Subliminal word association George?

Seriously my thinking was transformed when I put time in its place (or it put me in mine to be more accurate). Changed my life perspective.

I put time in its place by practicing patience. Cor13 is the manual.

  17. Paul, hope to see KC feature in the remaining games, he has a football intelligence that few others in the team possess. His ability to find space in the final third has been missing this season. I Hope he scores the first goal on Saturday and he finishes the season with a run of goals that takes us to Hampden.

Looking forward to Saturday can you have jelly n ice-cream with a Killie pie?

Jabba’s article could have been written for the Rangers News…have they still got that?

It must have been difficult to type when bowing down like that. Embarrassing but that type of lazy journalism gave birth to sites like this.

It’s funny reading it now; no wonder ENIC were having doubts!

  22. jude2005,

Murdo Fraser writes in a personal capacity – on headed notepaper and gives an e-mail address at the Scottish Parliament.

He talks of not depriving the taxpayer of funds, yet supports a CVA that would do the same thing,

He talks of the need for Scottish football to change and adapt, yet argues for the huns to stay regardless.

    Typical bloody Tory!

  23. Interesting comparison with the video game retailer Game who went in to administration and 5 or 6 days later come out of it with a new owner.

The administrators for the Game group made immediate staff cuts and shop closures to reduce outgoings and make the business mostly viable, the outcome from this is that the Creditors interests have been served and business resumes as normal with a new owner assuming control.

Compare with the rangers administration situation.

Why are Duff & Duff not carrying out their primary duty of looking after the creditors interests?

Game reduced staff immediately, thousands of jobs at risk, don’t remember the government or the SNP stepping in to say that Game should be rescued!

The football business in general does not turn a profit so is by default a bad investment vehicle thus making it unattractive in the normal business sense. Rangers would not have turned a profit this year even without going in to administration thus making them a loss making business with future income streams already compromised, and large liabilites in terms of the stadium and pending tax bills in the mix as well.

Forgetting that rangers are a dispicable organisation IMHO, why on earth would anyone wish to invest in a business that the only realistic ROI is to be successful on field, this will not be possible if they can not pay market rates for talent, this will then lead to at best a half empty stadium.

If rangers are allowed to renege on paying their dues and then return as a newco then you can bet that every other club with large debts will be looking to do the same, Hearts, Kilmarnock, Dunfermline – they will all want a slice of that pie.

The game in Scotland could be very close to essentially shooting itself and sinking with the bad ship rangers if the SPL chairmen continue on their current path.

The only way for rangers to regain any ‘dignity’ is to pay what they owe or liquidate, anything else will just kill football in scotland and I for one will not pay any money towards a crooked competiton with zero integrity.

But I trust their judgement and they know nowt about big bangs or theology or philosophy. But I’ll give it to them, they are patient and tolerant, but with bloody big teeth.

Was Sammi’s amazing debut not against the Mothers at Fir Park when he scored two within first 25 mins?

He also played a blinder against Killie when released by a simple Crosas pass he ran more than half the field leaving Simon Ford in his wake and scoring a cracker.

Not arguing like but my memory is just a bit different. Howevah we agree Sammi is a must!

  28. Sorry to butt in on the fruit fly debate but they are unlikely to eat bananas for two reasons:

    1) They prefer to feed on over ripe fruit in the wild so things like apples that have fallen from the tree are easier to feed on.

    2) They struggle to peel them if there is anything less than a swarm of them.

Having said that they are partial to banana milkshakes and foam bananas under lab conditions but don’t really go for them in the wild.
