Commons future beyond 2017

341

When Kris Commons’ new contract expires in 2017, he will be the same age Lubomir Moravcik was when he joined Celtic as a 33-year-old in 1998.  We now mock those who mocoked Celtic for signing the Slovak genius.  While this may be Commons last contract, if the player applies himself as professionally over the next two years as he has since arriving at Celtic four years ago, his twilight years will continue to be effective.

He is our fulcrum.  When you write Celtic match reports these days you find yourself sampling your Commons notes, whereas pretty much everything of note the rest of the team does is recorded.  He is not the most industrious and will not feature high on many recorded metrics, but he’s the archetypal Moneyball footballer: an over 30 and apparently the wrong shaped marvel.

Till now, it’s all been tip-toe-ing around the elephant in the room.

    ———–

Has anyone ever seen the elephant in the room and Jim Traynor at the same time…….???

  6. Neganon,

The notion may be important – mauling it to death – not interesting.

Discuss it with your opponents off-line

    Reach some conclusions

Write a paper on it and submit it

Then we’ll throw it in the bin and get on with discussing who is playing centre midfield next week

  8. If the motion to eject the 4 directors is passed

And they decide that they would not be allowed to appoint Murray and King because they are disbarred

Would the have a board of directors of 1 if the other chancer gets the nod?

Good day to one and all. Disappointed that I will miss the Belfast hootenanny, it’s just came to quick for me to recover in time, but I have booked a break to Kraków in mid March! My question is…on the Friday that I’m there it’s the local derby, Wisla v Cracovia(sp). I have heard so many stories re Polish football, I was wondering is it safe to take Mrs Frantic? Or give it a miss, and just soak up the atmosphere between the fans in the old town?

Any info re Kraków most welcome. Oh btw, those going to Belfast, drink responsibly! Aye right! Frantic07.

    ———————————————————————————————————————

    Hi Frantic

I have just moved to Krakow. I live near both stadiums and for big matches there is a heavy police presence but I have not witnessed any violence outside the stadiums – the atmosphere sounds great. I believe you need a passport/ID card to purchase tickets – maybe the resident CQN Polish friend may know more.

Krakow is a great wee town – enjoy yourself.

My original point was not strictly about today (but it does show a lot of the same symptoms)

The point is – I don’t believe this blog is the forum for that incessant stuff – take it off-line

Call it good manners or blog etiquette or whatever

That’s my last on the matter, before I get accused of the same

Anyone remember any reports of Murray “investing” millions in “the company that ran the club”? No, me neither.

Think my original post was just after 2 read back……

You may have missed the reason due to your scalded cat act.

    Now about those fixations……..

  18. Charliemac I know what you mean. However I think it’s difficult because much of what makes the blog compelling is a wider debate and in depth discussions. I accept its not to everyone’s taste though.

Sorry to hear of the loss of your sister Rita.

Dear oh dear, “rip up the rule book” says delahunt.

“Biggest decision the sfa has ever had to make” keevins hyperbole. Is that since they last threw out their rule book for the benefit of one club and to the shame of scotland. The rules are they to stop this kind of pantomine. Shameful.

There must be a way out of this corrupt association for us
