COMMONS’ JOY AT NEW DEAL



‘AN OVERJOYED Kris Commons today agreed a new two-year deal with Celtic.
The midfielder, 31, who is out of contract at the end of the season, ended speculation about his future by penning the contract.
He is now committed to the Hoops and spoke of his joy at remaining at the SPFL champions.
The former Scottish international said: “I’m absolutely delighted to have signed this new contract with the club.
“I’ve loved my time at Celtic and this is where I want to continue playing my football.“The club is in a great place, we’re still in four competitions this season and already have a League Cup Final to look forward to.
“I want to continue playing my part in bringing more success to the club.“I’m also delighted to continue playing in front of these magnificent fans, who have been brilliant with me and my family from the day I joined Celtic.”The move will thrill fans and it has also been welcomed by boss Ronny Deila.He said: “I am really pleased Kris has committed his future to the club.

“He is someone who has already made a great contribution to Celtic and I am sure he will continue to be a very important player for us as we work hard to bring our fans the success they deserve.

“We have had a good week after reaching the League Cup Final and, following the fantastic signings of Stuart Armstrong and Gary Mackay-Steven, Kris’s contract extension is even more great news for the club and our supporters.”Commons, who joined the Glasgow giants from Derby for a bargain £300,000 Celtic in January 2011, has made 175 appearances while scoring 74 goals.
He thumped in 32 goals last season on his way to being voted Scottish Footballer of the Year.
Commons has consistently repeated he never wanted to leave Celtic. Now it looks as though he will finish his playing days with the club.
CQN has consistently said that Kris Commons was going nowhere and in this instance in particular we are delighted to have been right!
Lisa Hague, Kris’ partner has taken to Twitter to express her feelings on today’s developments saying:
‘What an amazing day!!! I am over the moon that we are staying at Celtic! YASSSS!’
And Kris himself had this to say:
‘Absolutely delighted to have committed my future to this incredible club for the next 2 years.
