Commons needed for busy February

963

Neil Lennon’s comments that he will need to sell at Bolton Wanderers before making a bid for Kris Commons, or anyone else, are welcome.  Celtic have four important games in the four weeks after this transfer window closes: home and away to Inter Milan, Aberdeen in the league, and a League Cup semi-final against newco Rangers.  Commons will be vital for some, if not all of these games.

Inter will play on the front foot and Aberdeen have the players to take the game to us, as they did in the Scottish Cup at Celtic Park last season, but I expect newco to defend their 18 yard line in numbers, a bit like Ross County did last week, a scenario which will require someone with Commons’ craft.

Neil Warnock’s sacking at Crystal Palace was good news, as he wanted Commons, had money to spend and could offer the allure of top-flight football.  Neil Lennon would be able to offer Commons familiarity, but with Bolton spending a total of £300k in the summer, their chances of being able to afford a bid for Commons that would raise Celtic’s interest are limited.

  3. Thought Wakaso would have done more when I first saw him.

Do not know if it is him or how he is asked to play but looks like he could be the pacey out and out left winger to me we could use.

  4. Joe Filippis Haircut on

I have just watched the first half of Tranmere v.Swansea young Max Power would suit us fine he doesnt waste his passes and likes to drive forward into the box and he shoots every chance he gets.He also is happy to press I would say he would suit or game wither we can get him is another matter.H.H.

  5. Kris Commons should only start if he merits a place in the team. Which he does not with his performances this season.

and what was your reply :) ??

    __________________________________________________________________________

Standard reply is, “no chance mate/hen”.

Also, when asked my name, I usually reply. “Brendan Dominic Pius” gets them every time.

I’ve never met you and don’t wish to. I informed you that Deila said his relationship with man city resulted in the signing of denayer. You then proceed to ask the same question and then make a facetious comment about Celtic not playing in Norway.

Your line of questioning was aggressive and incessant in my opinion.

  8. kitalba

See, I was going to put at the end who have established themselves or are still here.

In that case, Mcgeady, Mcmanus, Maloney, Liam Miller, Jackie Mac, Burchill, Mulgrew, Kennedy, O’Dea, Caddis, Caldwell.

Ones who made first team appearances and in some cases a fair few but weren’t ever quite good enough

Jamie Smith, Ross Wallace, Beattie, Crainey, Kerr (made 75 appearances overall), Fotheringham, Sheridan,

These are a few off the top of my head.

  9. chrisvancoupon :

Bull, show me where I was aggressive to you. You can’t. You’re deflecting. You’re false.

  10. A documentary described him as the Norwegian Jurgen Klopp and Deila has spent time at Borrusia Dortmund observing the German at work.

Taken from a documentary about Ronny.

He has also spent time watching Brendan Rodgers’ coaching sessions at Liverpool and Deila’s development as a manager is underpinned by his studious nature.

Deila made use of Stromsgodset’s tie-up with Manchester City to make several visits to the Etihad Stadium to study training methods there.

A former teacher, he is a driven personality with a desire to learn from the best coaches and implement best practice in training.

Look at the names you posted, after 20 years that’s what we produced?

Now without even dissecting your list I’ll think you’ll find one or two were immigrants and quite a few were ultimately failures.

So which ones in particular became Celtic greats from the list you listed off the top of your head?

  17. Ask yourself this

With our resources are you happy with the standard of play you see week in and week out in the league? (From week one to date.)

    Cups aside (domestic)

Are you happy with your clubs ambition as you perceive the meaning of ambition?

Are you happy that our club truly represents our collective values?

Are you happy that as a club we are now an harbour for other teams ‘projects’?

Is that what we’ve become… a nanny club?

  18. Robert88 :

It is courtious to answer the question by not asking a question.

So which ones in particular became Celtic greats from the list you listed off the top of your head?

  19. Good afternoon WeeFra

what’s your take on the manager of our wonderful club?

at the outset when he signed I thought, ok sounds positive, forward thinking but for every step forward it feels like 2 steps back,he mentioned playing offensive football and at times I’ve been very offended ( sorry ). Still, he’s our manager and should be given time.

As for all those posters apoplectic at the possibility of Aberdeen or Utd making a challenge, we can’t have it both ways,i.e. wanting competition and then decrying the club because we have ” far superior resources and shouldn’t be behind lesser teams”, not a direct quote from anyone but that’s what some people are saying.

ffs we have no divine right to win anything and some on here just sound like huns.

Wakaso is defensive midfielder. Before Celtic, he played only two or three games on another position (striker) for his youth National team on tournament in Africa. He nevere played winger before Celtic.
