RONNY DEILA has ruled out Kris Commons from Celtic’s Champions League qualifier against Stjarnan at Parkhead tomorrow night.
The 31-year-old midfielder fractured his small toe in an accident at home and has not featured in the club’s pre-season friendlies against Rhoda, Dukla Prage and Real Sociedad at St Mirren Park.
Commons has returned to training, but Hoops boss Deila says the match against the Icelandic champions has come too early for the player.
The former Scotland international scored 16 goals in 46 appearances for the club last term and has played vital roles in European encounters in recent times.
Summer signings, goalkeeper Logan Bailly, defenders Saidy Janko and Dedryck Boyata and striker Nadir Ciftci, are all in the squad for the first leg tie.
