RONNY DEILA praised Kris Commons while he prepared Celtic for Saturday’s Scottish Cup-tie against Dundee at Dens Park.
Commons, Scotland’s Player of the Year last season after scoring a phenomenal 32 goals from his midfield role, netted the killer second in the League Cup semi-final at Hampden.
Deila said: “It’s great to have Kris Commons who can score the goals he does.
“That’s why we won the game because we have qualities that other teams don’t possess and Kris Commons is one of them.
“He can provide something extra and he showed that with the second goal as it was a brilliant shot.”
Deila is still hoping to persuade the 32-year-old former Scottish international to agree an extension at the SPFL champions.
Insiders insist the club and the player are not too far apart in their thinking at the moment and a deal will be done to keep the fans’ favourite in Glasgow.
We certainly hope so.
