COMPPER STANDS BY FOR DEBUT

MARVIN COMPPER is poised to make his long-awaited Celtic debut against Dundee at Parkhead on Wednesday night.

The 32-year-old German centre-half arrived at the Hoops in a £1million move from Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig at the start of last month, but has been sidelined with calf injury sustained during training in Dubai.

However, manager Brendan Rodgers revealed Compper has a chance to be involved against the Taysiders, along with on-loan winger Patrick Roberts, fit again after recovering from a hamstring problem which has kept him out since November.

Kristoffer Ajer will be assessed after receiving a head knock following a clash with team-mate Jozo Simunovic in the 2-0 win over Aberdeen at Pittodrie yesterday.

Rodgers said: “Patrick should be available for the squad, that was our idea to work him back for the Dundee game.

“So he played for the development team at the end of last week.

“He has been working very hard and we will assess Marvin Compper, so there is a possibility he, too, will be involved.

“We need to assess Kristoffer over the next 24 hours on that one because his eye was fully closed.

“He took a real bad knock on his head and on his shin, but he has had that patched up.

“It will just be the eye. We will see how that responds over next 24 hours.”
