We waited three long years to get there but I suspect I’m not the only one who will be relived we’re not plunging straight into another Champions League game. Most Celtic fans shrugged the Camp Nou defeat off, but I hear the players have taken it all a bit personal. They want to respond appropriately in that tournament, however, there is the small matter of a trip to Inverness to deal with first.
Wheels come of the Celtic barrow at Inverness. Repeatedly. On paper, the Highlanders have endured an awful start to the season, but if you drill down you’ll see that their five league games have seen them play Aberdeen and Hearts away, and lose a local derby to Ross County. Form will improve when they face lesser-resourced teams.
Statistically, you are more likely to drop points away from home after an away European tie than at any other time. Ronny Deila defied these odds during his tenure, let’s hope Brendan manages to channel the frustration in the dressing room into a performance and result against Inverness.
While Celtic and Hearts have opened up a gap at the top of the table, the rest of the league went through a concertina last weekend. Any team from 10th placed Kilmarnock and up could go third over the weekend. Does that make it the most competitive in Europe? You could make a case, the champions aside.
Joint-fourth Ross County will go third if they win at Ibrox, while Aberdeen, Dundee and St Johnstone will all fancy their chances of being third if County can only take a point.
I was pretty keen on Joey Barton heading to Ibrox this season and his actions over the last 24 hours show why. No idea what happened on Tuesday, but he issued an apology of sorts on Twitter last night, before deleting it, and then went on live radio this morning saying, “I don’t think I’ve done anything to apologise for”.
You know best, Joey. Don’t take any crap from a manager with five games of top-flight football on his CV, or team-mates who don’t deserve to be on the same field as you. Apologise for telling it as it is? I don’t think so.
Mark my words, we’ll have him doing the halftime draw soon enough.
The Kano Foundation
Sannabhoy asked me to share this from The Kano Foundation, who will support their 5000th child at the Kilmarnock game later this month.
5000 kids! I’ve no idea the extent of the social impact The Kano Foundation is having, but it’s awe inspiring. It grew from the CQN community, when our pal Martin Kane, who is no longer with us, took seriously ill.
After we Brought Martin Home, the guys involved realised they would be able to harness this force for good going forward, and the Foundation was born – out of your efforts.
Here’s what Sannabhoy had to say:
“The Kano Foundation is holding our annual bucket collection at Celtic Park before the Killie game on the 24th of September. This game also marks the 5000th child that we will take through the turnstiles to see Celtic.
“We are really keen/ desperate to have as many people help us with the bucket collection as possible as every penny raised goes towards allowing more children to get to see Celtic.
“If you can spare an hour or so please get in touch with us as we would be absolutely delighted to have as many people as possible rattling buckets. Please drop a note to Sannabhoy at Sannabhoy@thekanofoundation.com or go online to our website The Kano Foundation.
“Every single volunteer is worth about £50-100 to us so the more we have, the more we can raise and the more kids we can take to Celtic Park. We are now up to 102 child tickets at each game meaning we can now take almost 2000 kids each season.
Thanks and Hail Hail.”
You’ll speak to a hundred Celtic fans, have a great day and the weather’s going to be warm and sunny, I promise, so go sign up.

Never really bought into the Warburton best thing since sliced loaf stuff, but he must be wondering what he has let himself in for.
Let down by promises from above.
Now the supporters giving him stick cos they will swallow whatever the MSM tell them.
No doubt a heavy defeat from their (as they see it) “biggest rivals” will have them demanding a “real rangers man”.

I caught that story this morning but did not comment.
The story is a tragedy for the young girl in question and the allegiance of the scumbag who enacted this evil upon her does not matter. Glad he was caught and justice was administered and I hope he gets his due deserts in prison. The young girl will live with this for her lifetime.
This evil is panoramic and stretches across society from the rich to the poor, the educated to the uneducated, politicians to jobseekers and sadly into football as it is an easy picking for these cretins to find away to gain an involvement. The colour of the scarf does not matter. The sooner the less educated supporters realise this and stop using abused children as a means to score cheap points the better. Sadly being uneducated I doubt we’ll see that any time soon.

Big Jimmy, several deleted.
If you want to start to accuse people of a serious crime leave your contact details, their lawyer may want to get in touch. Also, do it elsewhere.
And language.
And the subject matter requires a degree of sensitivity which was absent.

Very well put together opinion. Mrs VFR deals with what the detritus of society does to children on a daily basis. sadly, I am no longer surprised at the levels of depravity that men AND women visit upon our innocents. (Don’t for a minute think this is a “men only” crime).
The perpetrators are, as you say, from all social classes and all walks of life; as are the victims.
I wholeheartedly agree, the allegiances of these evil people are unimportant; it’s how we as a society can help the victims that matter.
John James blog reminded me of something I had been told before: Keith Jackson only has a career because when he was an officer junior at the Sun he told Jack Irvine about a fax he had seen at his girlfriend’s dad’s house which lead to the Sun breaking the story about Judas joining the dead club.

There are historic allegations of sevco employees being involved in child abuse; one allegation led to a sevco coach committing suicide.. I’d post a link but nah- not going there. However, let the animals carry on. They think it’s hilarious. They don’t realise it marks them as sub humans.
CRC, thanks. Email sent.

TBH,the huns singing about fenian blood and die, die, dying is something I can put up with, regardless of how vile it is.But using child abuse as a method of expressing your hate for another football club, and all it’s fans,is beyond all levels of decency,in fact it’s despicable, deplorable, and inhumane. To exploit the unimaginable suffering of kids is the behaviour of scum.
Giving me the creeps even just writing about it in this post.
I’ve seen it all now!

Thank you for the article on the Barton situation James. However, I won’t be as stunned as you will be if the bold lad is sacked come Monday. We’ve seen this movie before with a certain Mr Sandaza, another well paid under performer for them. After a prank call in which he made some careless comments he had his contract terminated.
This incident happened on Tuesday, but didn’t come out till yesterday. I think someone’s been having a wee think about how they might get an expensive flop off the books…

I don’t think there is anything in the constitution of The Labour Party which bars belief in Marxist principles.
They are, after all,the bedrock of Socialism.
IMO,The Labour Party could have done with more adherence to his teachings in the 90s and the early part of this century. It might have prevented the current schism.

Okay I can’t determine what can be posted and what can’t, but the fact is that I wasn’t accusing anyone.
The Sevco fan admitted his offences in a Court if Law and was duly sentenced. I was merely stating the facts as reported in the evening times.
As for the 3 Celtic girls being verbally abused etc, that is a BBC report although at this stage I believe that no one has been charged However, no one has been charged with wrecking the toilets at Celtic Park and yet that was widely discussed on this forum ?
I don’t get it ?
