Confidence and belief, only delivery to come

278

There will be little Ronny Deila doesn’t know about Molde. His confidence ahead of tonight’s game will be based on a genuine belief that Celtic are the better team, that the game plan is right for the occasion, and that his players are ready.

As a group, they need to perform to the mark they are capable of. Most importantly, they need to harvest the regret for the points and progress they’ve let slip away already during this season’s European campaign. A win, a good defensive performance, and if possible, a clean sheet, will go a long way towards setting up the second half of the season.

My expectation is that we’ll get it right.

Best wishes to Johan Cruyff, who let it be known today he is fighting lung cancer. He deserves to be mentioned alongside Pele and Maradona as one of the greatest players to have graced a football field. I spoke to Tommy Gemmell last year about the greats he’d played against. Eusebio was a phenomenon but Tommy was clear: he had nothing on Cruyff.

It’s 24 years since Johan stopped smoking but although quitting quickly brings mortality benefits, the experts tells us it takes 40 years of abstention before the likelihood of catching cancer reaches the same levels of non-smokers – a clear call to action, if you’re in need of one.

  1. Tontine Tim,

I was hoping the Cubs would win the World Series but the Mets dominated them. It would be nice if they won it. I’ve got money on the Blue Jays.

Someone told me supporting the Yankees is like going to Vegas and rooting for the casino.

    OK Guys,

Who will take the Molde challenge?

Who will donate £2 for every goal Celtic score tonight to my homeless appeal?

Roll up Roll up — help me sleep in a Roll up bed out in the open under the stand at Paradise.

Come on folks this is what Celtic Fans do best — support the team and help others!

All donations greatly received with a huge thankyou.

Lead story on shortbread the night will be Carlton Cole’s goal drought continuing.

  4. The Toronto Blue Jays just sold out all their tickets for the World Series. FFS they still have tae win 2 games in Missouri yet. Bit hunnish action tae me.

  5. I was sitting in the BA lounge at Edinburgh Airport on Tuesday morning when six MIBs sat down opposite me. What’s the collective noun for Scottish referees? Anyhow, they were en route to Champions League games. Thomson, Clancy, McLean and three others I couldn’t recognise. Clancy read out a post from a Celtic fan from the Record’s hotline which criticised Muir’s performance at Fir Park. They all had a laugh at that. McLean said “he’s clearly not from the west end of Glasgow”. Maybe he thinks all Tims live in and around London Road. His behaviour was markedly different from the others. Aloof and distant from the group. As they’re flight was called he waited behind for a while, again setting himself apart. As he finally walked off I saw his footwear. Scruffy, light tan brogues.

Celtic are favs to win with the bookies.

  7. So the reason I didn’t get a ticket from Celtic for the Hearts game?

Because I wasn’t put in the ballot in the first place.

    Why?

Because Celtic said I only went to 22 out of 23 away games last.

    The missing game?

    Ross County on Jan 24th.

Thing is Jan 23rd is my birthday and I know I was in Dingwall because the missus and I made a weekend of it and stayed over on the Fri and Sat night.

Turns out someone missed out the first digit of my client code.

Acceptance of a mistake but sadly all tickets have now been allocated.

    Ggggrrrrr.

  8. !!bada bing!!

We have been unsettled at times, letting winning positions slip away. As a club preparing for Europe we are our own worst enemy, well into October and still not a settled team. Not easy with loss of two of our best players, late and even later arrivals, who I welcome by the way, injuries and international football. A win tonight will change all that, and put the club on an even steer. Here’s hoping!

  9. Dbia,

They are gonna be struggling tonight seeing as he’s never scored against us.

  10. Bada,

Imo Efes header, Broonys header and Bitton and vvd doing a chest pump after a corner has cost us more than anything this campaign.

Lustig second goal I’m tellin ye!;)

  11. Professor Green on

Just watched the Carlton Cole interview. The questioning by the Scottish press gives you a laugh if nothing else! Always coming from the angle of why would you ever want to sign for Celtic?? Fair play to big Calton he shot them down in flames.

    Same old, same old.

  12. Whoever is in charge of setting the media’s agendas (Jabba) must think the public suffer from the affliction of having the memory of a goldfish.

Just last week we had Robert Lowandowski dressed as a baby, dummy tit and full regalia, for asking for protection from the referee before the Scotland match, having been on the end of a brutal challenge from

Greer in the previous Poland v Scotland match.

One week on the press have completed a complete 180 turn, now only Sevco players receive bad challenges and they must be protected ie, it will be easier if we can play future games against 10 men.

Anybody care to guess how long Sevco will go before an opposition player is red carded?

Under a month is my guess.

  13. The decision by Hearts (Ann Budge?) to dramatically cut Celtic’s allocation for an untelevised popular away match is very odd IMHO. The cut means that Hearts and Celtic fans are in much closer proximity than they normally would be, with Hearts fans now taking up space, usually occupied by the Celtic away support.

This is a strange move by Hearts given that although the game is not being televised and Celtic fans, are losing out, the Hearts fans take up is ‘very slow’ – I’m told. This leads to Celtic fans being able to get tickets not allocated to our support.

But then you would think Hearts and their preoccupation with the Celtic support would know this was likely to happen?

That sums up everything about the management of Celtic in terms of the day to day, month to month etc

    Eeejits!!!

  15. Old King Cole was a merry old soul

A merry old soul was he

He called for his pipe and he called for his bowl

And he called for his fiddlers three

Markus Rosenburg striker for Malmo is still pretty good at 32 years of age. Malmo had a good win last night in the Champions League. Old King Cole could be a good signing. Manure were on tv last night but did not bother to watch but looking forward to a good result tonight.

Have they not heard of the ole Petrofac cup?

  17. Hamiltontim on 22nd October 2015 5:14 pm

Did they not even suggest that you phone the day before or something just in case? I can guarantee there are tickets held back for VIPs that may not get taken up.

Snoop Dogg, to name but one, is not goin’ to Tynecastle.

  24. the glorious balance sheet on

    BSR 1728-

Hearts announced this new ticket allocation for games involving them and Celtic or Hibs during the close season so the shady ticket allocation was always going to happen regardless of whether the game was on the TV or not.

Incidentally what are the BBC playing at showing the Inverness game instead of the Celtic tie? That’s another story…..

So it’s Away allocation slashed and part of the stand given over to Hertz fans. Ticket prices for these away fans hiked up; I fully expect that the hertz fans sitting in the same stand as the Celtic fans will be paying less for their ticket.

I would sooner die than set foot in the cesspit that is Tynecastle. Hertz will never get a penny from me but I sympathise with those Celtic fans who go to all the games but can’t get a ticket for love nor money for the Diets Gardyloo.

  25. “Legend has it that in the 14th century, an old queen regained her health and beauty after using “Eau Miraculeuse”, which combined Citrus fruit, Rosemary and Eau de Vie in its “Miraculous Water” Recipe.

It was prepared in Convents, who alone knew their secret and it soon became an indispensable part of the daily morning ritual.

From that point on, “Eau Miraculeuse” spread all across Europe and later became known as “Cologne”.

The Botanical Cologne of the Minims is heir to this tradition – a refreshing twist on the classic cologne.

The fragrance is fresh and easy to wear, with a sparkling citrus scent that will give both men & women a true feeling of freshness and well-being.

This natural fragrance will refresh your senses, boost your mood and energise your skin”

Every day a school day wi the ole, ole, ole CQN pop ups.

If only we’d known about this earlier we could have prevented the adverse publicity and the Sevc’s and Sevca’s laughing collectively over at ole Govan Sevco

  26. We have 13 sports channels over here, 12 of which can be seen on basic cable while the other is by subscription.

We have a healthy amount of football on every week, especially when there are European club and country games on.

Every weekend the EPL is provided for on most of these channels.

On Tuesday night there were a fair amount of EC games, last night tae. For some reason the pay for view channel is not carrying EC or Europa Cup games so they showed the petrofac cup tie played that night. If it was free I still widnae watch them.

This afternoon we have 10 games, 5 early ko and 5 later ones, one of which is us over at Molde Ole Dough, we are featured quite a lot on European nights especially at Parkheid as the septic tanks just love the atmosphere there.

While perusing the future weekend games I came across the North East as well as Manchester derbies, that’s a nice Sunday morning after Mass and pre the NFL.

As for the PPV channel, it’s showing a game from the “new” Love Street. I would rather clean my septic tank if I had one than watch this pile of merde.

In an effort tae appease sevco and provide them with more money the authorities are bringing our game down, not that they care, anyone watching this Raphael will be totally convinced the Scottish game is scheidt.

The SFA/SPFL should be charged with bringing the game into disrepute.

  27. TBGS

Absolutely, – they are out of the wee diddy league with a new massive support all paying less to get in,

than Celtic or the other green team, – Hibs.

If it was up to me, we’d only have Celtic fans inside the Gazebo SPL match days ;-)

    That would soon sort them.

Acgrust, you need to see ole Snoop, if it’s the full metal jacket you’re after.

  29. ACGR, I remember the night that BRTH kidnapped you :-)

BRTH, ok I’m in, for each Celtic goal, I’m taking 3 for us as wel
