Confidence and belief, only delivery to come

278

There will be little Ronny Deila doesn’t know about Molde. His confidence ahead of tonight’s game will be based on a genuine belief that Celtic are the better team, that the game plan is right for the occasion, and that his players are ready.

As a group, they need to perform to the mark they are capable of. Most importantly, they need to harvest the regret for the points and progress they’ve let slip away already during this season’s European campaign. A win, a good defensive performance, and if possible, a clean sheet, will go a long way towards setting up the second half of the season.

My expectation is that we’ll get it right.

Best wishes to Johan Cruyff, who let it be known today he is fighting lung cancer. He deserves to be mentioned alongside Pele and Maradona as one of the greatest players to have graced a football field. I spoke to Tommy Gemmell last year about the greats he’d played against. Eusebio was a phenomenon but Tommy was clear: he had nothing on Cruyff.

It’s 24 years since Johan stopped smoking but although quitting quickly brings mortality benefits, the experts tells us it takes 40 years of abstention before the likelihood of catching cancer reaches the same levels of non-smokers – a clear call to action, if you’re in need of one.

  1. I knew my calm confident mood wouldn’t last. First butterfly took up residence in my stomach about 5 minutes ago and has since been joined by a few dozen mates.

Still 2 hours to go, bloody hell.

Agree but that shouldn’t mean that those deserving of tickets don’t get them through a fault in the Celtic TO.

Hello again all you young rebels.

Here we go again, what Celtic will turn up tonight? to me it’s all

about the centre backs who they are and how confident they

    are feeling.

Middle of the night here in Oz, just up and my wee hauf is winking

at me, maybe have a sip don’t want to be pashed before the game

    starts, or do i? decisions…

The wee fhella said just before going to his kip.

” Waken me when you get up for the game Papa ”

” Nae chance you’ve got school in the morn. ”

” Its awright its science and ma teachers a Cellic fan ”

” Sorry wee mhan no can do, your gran would murder me ”

” It disny matter i’ll wakin wi you screamin like a madman any way.”

Maybe i shouldn’t touch that drink till later.

  4. I always expect the unexpected when Celtic play in Europe. Not losing a goal will be unexpected and that will do for me.

    C’mon the HOOPS.

So the reason I didn’t get a ticket from Celtic for the Hearts game?

    =========================================================

Same thing happened to me,was told I had missed a game,I asked they identify the game and I would provide the ticket stub, after a count they agreed it was an error and I was held over until after deadline day 20th Oct. I called A.M on Wed. and was told I had a ticket.

There were 400 tickets held aside for investors I understand, and these are not normally fully taken given the timing and location.

I wrote to Angela Dobson the TO Manager and she was both apologetic and helpful, but I guess ultimately I was fortunate.

I believe the allocation cut by Ms Budge seeking to flex her authority will backfire,as there will be infiltration plus the segregation reduces the available toilet facilities below planning standards, particularly as the last block on the way out is normally locked.

I await the Match Commanders comments how they will address, or will there be a relaxation of arrests for those peeing in the street.

This is a disaster waitng to happen.

  7. Sad news about Johan Cruyff, hope he can win his biggest battle.

My daughter dragged me to the town after work on Sunday to get a vapour cigarette…believe me they are the business, I still have ten cigarettes left out of a twenty deck since Sunday. For me that is great and the more I get used to it, the more that pack stays in the cupboard.

Welcome to Carlton Cole, he can add an extra dimension to our game.

Hoping for a win tonight but would take the draw just now. COYBIG

I just want to set the record straight. I have never kidnapped ACGR.

In my kidnapping career I have always insisted on a certain class of victim — sort of high net worth, high intelligence or social value type of punter. Alas ACGR fails that test.

Now, if you are talking about the night he was in the front of your car fantasising about the inside of Annabel Goldie’s drawers == that was more akin to an episode of Lost in Space than any kidnapping malarkey!

    Thankyou for taking the challenge.

    Hope yer well.

Moles 0 Celtic whatever will do me tonight

Strange prematch ritual for me, by this time a few cold ciders/lagers would settle my nerves by now but me, the Mrs and the wee blade am off to chapel, rosary for Miss GFTB’s primary 3 as they start their Sacrament of Reconcilation tonight, the final isn’t till March, so if there is a god surely going to mass on a Thursday night might help our EL quest

Martybhoy59 a wee prayer will be said in deepest darkest ML5 tonight for your uncle Paul, sometimes the following Celtic game the memories flood back, hopefully the good times see you through the sad times

Enjoy the game fellow Celtic fans

A second ballot was held yesterday morning and when I didn’t get one in that I realised something was wrong.

Celtic have admitted it’s their error and it will be rectified but as all tickets have been allocated they can’t give me one.

    So Angela actually exists???? :-)

    Sorry…..went for a wee sleepy!

Got tonsilitis and cant get much through the night right now :(

Last night i posted a team which i thought Ronny would go with but it was based on Forrest being injured.

If he isn’t, then i think he will start on the right with Armstrong on the left and Johansen central.

If Forrest is out then i think Ronny will go with GMS instead of Commons.

Not because i think GMS deserves a start but because without Forrest we do not have much pace in our side and i think Ronny pretty much always has 1 of them in there if he can.

That was last night though and now Im thinking Ronny will start Commons instead of GMS!

As for my 3…..well….there wouldnae be a 3 but that’s what Ronny will do so Armstrong, Commons and Brown.

I know Brown is not going to play there but i think he is a bit wasted in a holding role and would offer us the same dig plus a lot more further upfield.

  14. Win tonight and we’ll qualify.

Cruyff, my favourite player outwith anyone in hoops. Bamboozled the footballing world in 1974 with his turn, which we now call a drag back. For me, the second best ever behind Pele.

  16. Good evening friends.

Everyone else feeling quietly confident of a narrow but disciplined win?

  17. Pretty certain (assuning fit) that the following 9 will definitely start –

Gordon, Lustig, Boyata, Blacket, Izzy, Brown, Bitton, Commons, Griffiths

Which would leave 2 places to be filled from – Mackay-Stevens, Armstrong, Johansen, Rogic

If Lustig doesn’t make it then Efe’s the replacement for me.

  21. LEIGH Griffiths returns to the starting line-up for Celtic tonight as they head into their UEFA Europa League clash against Molde in Norway.

The Hoops hit-man started on the bench in last weekend’s 1-0 win over Motherwell but has returned up front for the Bhoys as they look to give Ronny Deila a winning return to his homeland on matchday three of the competition.

The Celtic star is one of three changes made to the team for tonight’s game with Stefan Johansen and Mikael Lustig also returning to the starting XI for this evening’s tie in Norway.

There will be live pre-match build-up and in-game updates on the official Celtic Twitter account @Celticfc for tonight’s 8.05pm kick-off.
