BENJI SIEGRIST has quit Celtic after just two appearances in two years to join Neil Lennon’s Rapid Bucharest.

The 32-year-old Swiss keeper dropped to fourth in the pecking order after the arrival of Kasper Schmeichel and Viljami Sinisalo to join Scott Bain in Brendan Rodgers’ first-team squad for the new season.

Siegrist, whose two outings came in the League Cup, looked certain to move in this window, as CQN reported.

The netminder was signed by Ange Postecoglou on a free transfer from Dundee United, but the consisency of Joe Hart meant the shotstopper’s chances to impress were limited.
In a short statement on social media, the club confirmed the move and said: “Ben Siegrist has joined@RapidFC1923 on a permanent transfer. Good luck and best wishes, Ben!”
The keeper flew to Romania last week to open talks with former Hoops boss Lennon and the outcome is a two-year deal for the forgotten Celt.
