CONFIRMED: CALMAC IN FOR SCOTS

1

CELTIC skipper Callum McGregor is included in Steve Clarke’s startling line-up for the World Cup qualifier in Moldova this evening with a 5pm start.

Scotland are on the brink of claiming a runners-up spot and a play-off place for the Finals in Qatar next year.

McGregor will take his usual anchorman role alongside Billy Gilmour in the middle of the park which will allow John McGinn and Stuart Armstrong the leeway to go forward.

Che Adams will lead the attack in the absence of the suspended Lyndon Dykes, who scored the last-gasp winner in the Faroe Islands last month.

Hoops playmaker David Turnbull is on stand-by duty among the 10 substitutes.

The Scots go into the crunch encounter on the back of three successive victories over Austria in Vienna, Israel at Hampden and the Faroes in Torshavin.

TEAM: Gordon; Patterson, Hendry, Cooper, Robertson; McGinn, Gilmour, Armstrong, McGregor, Tierney; Adams. Subs: Clark, McLaughlin, O’Donnell, Souttar, Brown, McKenna, Turnbull, Nisbet, Ferguson and McLean.
