HOLDERS Celtic will play their Premier Sports League Cup quarter-final against Partick Thistle at Firhill on Sunday September 21 with a 3.30pm kick-off.
It’s an intriguing tie for Brendan Rodgers’ side against ex-Celt Mark Wilson’s second-tier club.
The Parkhead club coasted to a 4-1 win over newly-promoted Falkirk in the previous round with Daizen Maeda, Alistair Johnston, Dane Murray and Liam Henderson (own goal) on target in the east end of Glasgow.
Rodgers missed out on the silverware in his comeback season after the team tumbled to a shock 1-0 loss to Kilmarnock at Rugby Park at the first hurdle.
The Irishman made up for it with the league and Scottish Cup double and, of course, guided the team to League Cup success last time out in the dramatic penalty-kick shoot-out against Philippe Clement’s Ibrox side after a 3-3 draw following extra-time.
Kasper Schmeichel denied Ridvan Yilmaz in the shoot-out before Japanese ace Maeda fired in the decisive goal.
