CONFIRMED: FORREST STARTS, GRIFF ON STAND-BY

JAMES FORREST makes his first start against Steven Gerrard’s side at Ibrox this afternoon.

The Celtic winger has played only 12 minutes in a cameo role in the 1-1 draw at Parkhead in March during a season in which he has been jinxed by ankle and back problems.

However, the 29-year-old winger will take his place in the fifth and final derby of the campaign.

Scott Brown will skipper the side in his last hurrah against the Govan club and is looking for his 23rd victory in this fixture.

Interim manager John Kennedy has resisted the call for Leigh Griffiths to get a place in his starting line-up. The striker’s Hoops future is up in the air at the moment with the club yet to activate a 12-month option on his terms.

He grabbed Celtic’s stoppage-time equaliser when he was introduced for Odsonne Edouard in the 1-1 draw against Aberdeen at Pittodrie in the last outing.

He will be hoping to get the opportunity at some stage today to prove he is worth another year at Parkhead. He has scored a meagre eight goals in a disappointing season.

TEAM: Bain; Kenny, Ajer, Welsh, Taylor; Brown, McGregor; Forrest, Turnbull, Elyounoussi; Edouard. Subs: Barkas, Bitton, Griffiths, Ajeti, Soro, Christie, Johnston, Ralston and Laxalt.
