CONFIRMED: HAMPDEN CRUNCH FOR ANGE

CELTIC will face holders St Johnstone in the Premier Sports semi-final at Hampden on Saturday, November 20 with a 5.15pm kick-off.

A win over the Perth outfit, who did the Cup double last season, will, of course, edge Ange Postecoglou to within 90 minutes of his first piece of silverware since taking over as Neil Lennon’s long-term successor in June.

The Hoops have overcome Hearts 3-2 and Raith Rovers 3-0 to reach the last four of the competition with Hibs facing Steven Gerrard’s Ibrox side in the other tie the following day with a 4pm start.

The Parkhead side, after their phenomenal quadruple treble achievement, stumbled in the previous campaign to complete a wretched term without a trophy for the first time in 11 years.

Postecoglou and his new-look Celts have the opportunity to put that right if they can take care of Callum Davidson’s Cup experts at the national stadium and continue the good work in the grand finale on Sunday December 19.

Both ties will be shown live on Premier Sports, with the satellite company also sponsoring the competition this season.
