CONFIRMED: HOOPS KID MOVES

CAMERON HARPER has rejected a contract extension from Celtic to complete a move to New York Red Bulls, as CQN forecast a month ago.

The 19-year-old California-born striker moved to Glasgow from Pateadores SC in 2018, but failed to fulfil his early promise.

Harper made only one first-team appearance in the 1-1 draw with Hibs at Parkhead following the Covid-19 fall-out in January when 13 players were forced into self-isolation after Christopher Jullien tested positive upon his return from Dubai.

The teenager struggled to make an impact against the Easter Road outfit and was replaced by Armstrong Oko-Flex on the hour mark.

Harper bade a fond farewell on the club website and said: “I have really enjoyed my time at Celtic. It has been a great experience, of course, and I’m very grateful for the offer made to me by Celtic, too.

“But I wanted to go back to the US and take this new opportunity.

“It goes without saying, I wish Celtic nothing but success for the future.”
