CELTIC boss Brendan Rodgers has handed Kelechi Iheanacho a quickfire start against Partick Thistle in the Premier Sports League Cup quarter-final at Firhill this afternoon.

The Nigerian striker made his first appearance as a second-half substitute and scored the winning goal from a stoppage-time penalty-kick in the 2-1 victory over Kilmarnock at Rugby Park a week ago.

Viljami Sinisalo gets a rare outing in goal with Kasper Schmeichel among the stand-by squad alongside Daizen Maeda.

THANK HEAVENS…new Bhoy Kelechi Iheanacho celebrates his Rugby Park winner.

Now the holders are looking to earn a place in tonight’s semi-final ballot where they could meet St Mirren, Motherwell or Rangers.

TEAM: Sinisalo; Donovan, Carter-Vickers, Scales, Tierney; Nygren, McGregor, Hatate; Yang, Iheanacho, Tounetki. Subs: Schmeichel, Balikwisha, McCowan, Engels, Bernardo, Saracchi, Maeda, Murray and Forrest.
