CELTIC’S in-form winger Daizen Maeda WILL face Bayern Munich in the Champions League encounter at Parkhead on Wednesday evening.
The Japanese raider, who thumped in a hat-trick in the 5-0 Scottish Cup win over Raith Rovers at Parkhead on Saturday, has been cleared to play against the Bundesliga outfit in the first leg of the play-off tie.
Maeda had been banned for two games by UEFA after being red carded late in the 1-0 victory over Young Boys last month.
SMILES BETTER…Daizen Maeda celebrates one of his 21 Celtic goals this season.
He sat out the eighth and final outing of the new-look league system as the team went down 4-2 to Aston Villa in the Midlands.
It was anticipated he would also be forced onto the sidelines against Harry Kane and Co before making a comeback at the Allianz Arena a week tomorrow.
However, Celtic have been successful in their appeal against the original sentence and Maeda will get the nod to face the Germans in a must-win confrontation.
The pacy flanker is the club’s top scorer with 21 strikes and is now on 50 goals in his three years at Parkhead.
In a short statement, the club said: “Celtic FC tonight confirmed that it has successfully appealed Daizen Maeda’s two match suspension. The original suspension has been reduced to one match, meaning Daizen is available to play on Wednesday at Celtic Park.”
