MAIK NAWROCKI became Brendan Rodgers’ fifth pre-season capture when the centre-back signed a five-year contract today.
The 22-year-old Polish defender had been targeted by the returning Celtic manager, as CQN reported last week.
A transfer deal rising to £5.2million with Legia Warsaw was thrashed out and Nawrocki was quick to agree personal terms.
Beaming Hoops gaffer Rodgers welcomed his latest recruit and said: “It’s another very good signing for us and we’re delighted to have brought Maik to the club.

“He’s a very highly-rated young player and someone who we believe will be a great addition to the squad.
“He’s also a player I am very much aware of, having seen him play for Legia Warsaw in the Europa League and I know he was very keen to move to Celtic, so we’re looking forward to working with him.”
German-born Nawrocki, a former club team-mate of Josip Juranovic who joined the Hoops in August 2021 before moving to Union Berlin in January, told Celtic TV: “It’s great for me to have joined Celtic.
“I am now looking forward to meeting up with my new team-mates and start training with them.
“Celtic are a famous club throughout the world and, of course, they’re very well-known in Poland, having had a number of Polish players in recent years.
“So, I know just how big this club is and how incredible the supporters are and I can’t wait to play in front of the fans and experience that for myself.”

Nawrocki came through the Werder Bremen youth system and spent a season on loan at Legia before making the switch permanent last year. He is in line to make his debut at some stage in Saturday’s friendly against Wolves at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin.
The towering back-four performer joins Norwegian midfielder Odin Thiago Holm, Australian international winger Marco Tilio and South Korean duo Yang Hyun-jun and Kwon Hyeok-kyu at Parkhead as Rodgers continues to strengthen his playing squad.
Celtic fans can be certain others will join the revamp before the transfer window closes at midnight of August 31.
