MARTIN O’NEILL will continue as Celtic manager next season after agreeing an initial one-year deal, according to a report on Sky Sports.
The 74-year-old Irishman has accepted the role to bring the guessing game to a halt and the champions can now plan ahead for the new campaign with the Premiership kicking off on the weekend of August 1/2.
O’Neill, with the option of another 12 months, led the Hoops to a league and Cup double in the season just finished in his role as interim boss.
The former Parkhead gaffer, who spent five years in the dug-out after he first arrived in June 2000, got the nod to take over on a permanent basis after talks with the club’s principal shareholder Dermot Desmond.

The double billionaire businessman also met with Robbie Keane to discuss the situation.
O’Neill twice answered calls to return to the club last season.
The first time was in late October when Brendan Roaders dramatically quit and the veteran coach staged another comeback in early January after Wilfried Nancy was sacked following 33 catastrophic days in charge in which he lost six of his eight games.
Amazingly, O’Neill turned things around to guide the team to a fifth successive title and threw in the Scottish Cup for good measure.
He will almost certainly be assisted by right-hand man Shaun Maloney and the backroom staff that will include Mark Fotheringham, Stephen McManus and Gavin Strachan.
