CONFIRMED: THE REAL FEE FOR TIERNEY

0

CELTIC have confirmed they received an upfront fee of £25million for Kieran Tierney from Arsenal last week.

The deal stalled on a couple of occasion with the Londoners attempting to bargain with the Hoops hierarchy with a submission believed to be in the region of £18million with the remainder made up of add-ons.

Peter Lawwell and his board, who had thrown on a derisory initial offer of £15million for the 22-year-old Scotland international left-back in June, believed some of the stipulations were unrealistic and told the Gunners to think again.

Unai Emery insisted he wanted Tierney in before last Thursday’s deadline and the move was completed when his club met the criteria set by the Parkhead bosses.

The champions confirmed they had banked their biggest-ever transfer fee for a player by announcing it to the London Stock exchange yesterday.

The notification from Celtic proves they received the full amount for their player in a solitary payment.

A similar letter was released last year when French striker Moussa Dembele left the club for a previous best all-time high fee of £19.8million when he switched to Lyon.
