KIERAN TIERNEY will start this afternoon’s encounter against Newcastle United at Parkhead on the substitutes’ bench.
The former fans’ favourite, who has returned to the champions after an absence of six years, was expected to be in at the start, but will have to bide his time among the stand-by squad.
Japanese recruit Hayato Inamura will be in the left-back slot for kick-off.
Another new Bhoy, Benjamin Nygren, will join Tierney on the bench.
The competitive action kicks off a fortnight tomorrow with what is becoming an annual event with Flag Day in the east end of Glasgow when St Mirren provide the opposition in the Premiership opener.
