Any management team has only so much bandwidth. You see the effect of this in organisations when the pressure is applied. Urgent matters, the ones that come screaming into your inbox, or literally banging on your door, tend to take your focus.
Strategically important issues seldom do this. They can sit in the outfield for a long time, so much so, they blend into the background and you stop noticing them. Then something big happens and bang, you have an urgent matter which you could have dealt with months earlier.
Yesterday’s Scottish news saw an example of this. At an inquiry into deaths at Glasgow’s Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, a manager admitted he “dropped the ball” in not reacting to a report issued years earlier. An unusual admission of laxity.
Football clubs also a million things metaphorically banging on their door; there is always a crisis and always things which are not really today’s priorities that look like priorities. That’s why the little things, like submitting a planning request to Glasow City Council to make stadium changes to accommodate away fans can slip through the net.
The signs are that Newco management’s bandwidth is more constricted than most. They are making very visible mistakes. Unlike the hospital manager, their appetite for taking responsibility isn’t great. Results will soon out them.

●● Two firsts involving Celtic ●● Answers do not involve score nor playing staff.
1) Real Madrid v Celtic nov 2022?
2) Celtic v Aberdeen November 1980 ?

Numbers on back of shirt.
2 penalties to Madrid 1 to Celtic
Our recruitment process is so poor that we could take in £80m plus for 4 players who cost us less than 10% of that depending on whose rumours we believe.
On top of that we also sold Abada for £10m recently.
It seems it works really well.
Especially as we won 3 leagues and 7 domestic trophies vs an overspending rival. From a standing start with a new manager.
Or do facts not count in this argument
i wont renew until they spend
says most of the internet.
53,500 season card renewals.
47,300 paid attendees for a league cup game.
sold out hospiality for the season.
7 from 9
We were also very competitive in 5 CL games out of 6 which could all have seen us win last season and have a team which matured in the past 12 months and has scope to compete and grow in CL with a couple of decent signings / loans in the next week given we have already signed 4 decent players so far.

Shirt numbers= No
Another pint to jiggle the memory perhaps.
is using the term shysters ok to slag an organisation ?
Over £100 million in the bank, let’s go for a couple of loans….

Answer does not involve scoreline nor players,
I’ve read some chat about us having a ready made replacement for M O’R.
Must admit, I’m not aware of anyone obvious in house.
Yes we have all known of the probability of Matt leaving. Regardless, we’ve also know of the mangers and fans pleads to the board to strengthen the team for champs league (2-3 “additions”).
If they shared the same ambition as us and the manager, those players would be in the building (KS and AI are not additions to last seasons quality’) – signing 5 players next week might look good in terms of scrounging last minute deals for scraps. It doesn’t help us prepare of rangers game, champs league in few weeks – disruption and integration.
The reality is despite having a wealth of riches to spend – we appear to be operating like the misers across the river – don’t buy until we sell.
If find it unprofessional and a rip off that this board hasn’t provided CB and LB – key key weaknesses in our team for years. The lack of mitigation planning and strategic improvement is shocking. I’m convinced we signed idah earlier due to kyogo injury (.otherwise they would wait till Norwich caved last couple days ).
They haven’t found the balance – other than in our accounts!!

Indeed! Too many people wishing to win the argument rather than wishing to be correct. Changing your mind is not weakness.

We’re blessed with a blog written by a great mind and a huge Celtic supporter.

We’re lucky to have the man! Talk about dedication and patience!

i like the bringing in loans and try before you buy.
it has worked how many times now ?
Good afternoon all from the Victoria Bar. A hun free zone.

4 great signings all secured after successful loans.
Low risk signings as we know what they can do and they know what they are coming into.
Even someone as negative as you can’t find a fault with that ??
As for Copenhagen. If 4th in your domestic league and losing as many leagues as you win despite being the biggest club in your country suits you then fine. They are in the Conference league by the skin of their teeth this year.
(KS and AI are not additions to last seasons quality’)
were not in cl squad last year.
therefore they are additions for this one. it really is that simple
David 66,
I’m one of the most impatient people on the planet, I can’t understand this mad game of Chicken where we are trying to close deals in the final few hours of the window,
I want players not projects in, I wanted them in before we sold Matt.
If we don’t close a minimum of 3/4 deals in the next week, I will be disgusted.

Corner flags ?
i think the rangers will win at celtic park.
they are bettered prepared with all their players in early.
For every pound r2ngers don’t spend we won’t spend £10
Corkcelt
Just because you want players in does not mean good players will want to come in.
Our domestic rivals have spent liberally to the point of financial instability this past few years trying to improve their talent pool and are now a complete basket case.
Players will come here if there are no better offers. Projects may see opportunities and come earlier.
We have a manager respected by the main shareholder working with a ceo and FD to entry to sort what he can.
Burnley
Earnings from transfer dealings means diddly squat if it is not used to take the club to the next level. If, come the close of the transfer window, we are without a new CB, LB & wondering where we are going to replace half the 36 goal/assist contribution of MO’R, that will be a massive unforgivable step backwards. Those responsible for such a shambles should & will be rightfully called out on it. I will wait until that time before getting overly excited or extremely disappointed.
Tomorrow we have a massive match against a difficult rival. A well run club with a strong anti Celtic leaning.
Hopefully our excellent free flowing high tempo football can see us get a result to set up a week of champions league draw and a few quality additions prior to the derby next Sunday.
Wow.
The hate runs deep in some.
Genuine question – why is that?
If Paul will forgive the plug for another blog … Auldheid wrote something quite profound on Sentinelcelts around 2am this morning.
IMHO, worth a look.
Ps. Peter Lawwell will be responsible. He has an extremely unhealthy obsession with the bank balance

You’re not paying attention. That club is in turmoil. Fancy them to draw today as they are already shttin it at the thought of a visit to CP. 4-0 or 5-1 is not pipe dream
Burnley, I’m not an idiot, I realise in any deal, the player must be willing to come and the Club must be willing to sell.
I would hope & expect that we have done due diligence on dozens of players and have a short list of players that can strengthen us, whether we buy them now, get a Loan or better still, a Loan with an option to buy.
I would also hope & expect that we have already had contacts with the Players & their Clubs and already know where we have realistic expectations of doing a deal.
Anything less than that would be grossly negligent.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
All the dumb little fishes bite.
D. :)
A Groundhog Day too many,as and when
Not too sure what that is about , David but if you are trawling to get bites, it says more about you than the little fishes.
Was that Greg Taylor defending that back post for Man U there,or was it a tall, multi million pound player.
Greg Taylor at it again.
The guy was nowhere to be seen in that left back position for Brighton’s winning goal.
Once upon a time a contributor used to keep a list of all the players we were “linked with “.
It was as long as your arm.
If we signed everyone we were “linked with” our squad would be 50 strong.
Conor Hazard , man of match performance., helped 9 man Argyle take a point .
