Any management team has only so much bandwidth. You see the effect of this in organisations when the pressure is applied. Urgent matters, the ones that come screaming into your inbox, or literally banging on your door, tend to take your focus.
Strategically important issues seldom do this. They can sit in the outfield for a long time, so much so, they blend into the background and you stop noticing them. Then something big happens and bang, you have an urgent matter which you could have dealt with months earlier.
Yesterday’s Scottish news saw an example of this. At an inquiry into deaths at Glasgow’s Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, a manager admitted he “dropped the ball” in not reacting to a report issued years earlier. An unusual admission of laxity.
Football clubs also a million things metaphorically banging on their door; there is always a crisis and always things which are not really today’s priorities that look like priorities. That’s why the little things, like submitting a planning request to Glasow City Council to make stadium changes to accommodate away fans can slip through the net.
The signs are that Newco management’s bandwidth is more constricted than most. They are making very visible mistakes. Unlike the hospital manager, their appetite for taking responsibility isn’t great. Results will soon out them.

Fire sale coming up at Chelsea
GENE, maybe that’s what we’ve been waiting for?

I.would like to see the Polish lad to replace O’Reilly. I would also like to see a young 3rd striker.
Other than that I think we have enough players to handle any eventuality as long as we don’t lose anyone else.
Bloated squads cause unhappy players who are not playing. I think Rodgers said he wants around 27.
If we want the B team and academy to work then we need a pathway to the first team. Darren O’Dea has been appointed to handle this.
If we have this working then perhaps we will see less of a brain drain among our youths

This is priceless, between the commercial word salad references, out of context and the wood chip desk they are sitting at. The lack of self awareness is priceless – love it! Let them carry on!
Also Brendan (verbatim)
“Every coach and manager will have a moment in the window when you want to get players in to work with them…the quicker we get them in the quicker the improvements take place but unfortunately we’re not in total control of it, you’re always reliant on the other club as well and the other player so sometimes you need that patience.
It’s very difficult for supporter because there’s so much you read so much you hear so much and as a Celtic supporter you look at the team and go wow, we’re playing so well if we can ad a few that can really elevate the team it can be an exciting season but that’s exactly the same as my intention here as well. So it can be frustrating, but experience tells you you have to be patient and you have to wait and then judge it when the market closes”
8 days to go……….
Still very slow
Looks like Kyogo is not going anywhere (Manager – nothing concrete from City)
No news on Reo

Paul 67 et al,
Does it really mattwr what tje huns are doing. Maybe the order for nets just got a bit confused with all the talk of bandwidth. Easy mistake to mix up the incorrect type of net. 😀
Anyway the point is from our perspective. The huns have renaged on the deal.
A shameless deal that screwed our fans and rolled out the red carpet for undesirables that we dont want or need. We even spent a fair bit of money to accommodate them. ( No money spent where I sit )
So as we speak we are asking our fans that we have shafted to now buy the tickets at the last minute.
We are treating our faithful fans with contempt and like second class citizens.
We should now do the right and moral thing and say to our faithful fans that the huns will not be back at Parkhead. But will we. ?
I am as angry about the way we are treating our fans as I am about the betrayal of pensioners who thought prudence was right and moral thing to do.

Only ever seen one organisation where the entire management were educationally challenged, immaculate suits , shiniest shoes. , bling personal and corporate , never made a penny profit. If you were easily taken in you’d thought these guys were movers and shakers with good looking burds
never trust a man who goes to a football match wearing a blue blazer, shiny buttons and a dark suit with brown brogues.
KYOGO NOT GOING ANYWHERE WILL BE LIKE A NEW SIGNING.
someone will say soon the board injurneed that.
I had to laugh out loud the other day when I read an article on the BBC that the clubs are ruining things for young scottish players to make the break through. That started with the Huns wanting rid of the reserve league and the SFA allowed that to happen. Remember the old days of if Celtic were playing Dundee at Dens, then the reserves were playing at Paradise. We even had a reserve league west that played on Monday nights, and now what do our kids have??????? The SFA have the opportunity to set things right but one club says no and that is that. Good to see MOR at training today, bhoy has a great attitude and if he is playing on Sunday, we all know he will give his all. Great time to be a Celtic fan, but then again, even through thick and thin, it is a great time and privilege to be a Celtic fan.
Hope everyone is doing well.

With apologies to anyone who doesn’t want to read about transfers, Brendan confirmed that the Kyogo link to City is the work of his agent.

I didn’t hear that in the interview did you? – if that’s just an interpretation of what he said, fine.
Hail Hail

early 80s as a youngster i went to loads of reserve games, i was often playing football in the morning, and the shammy bus would already be away before i got back down the road.
several time the rear main stand would be quite packed, and attendnaces more than several others in the lower leagues, maybe you even played.
i went to some reserve original rangers games, midweek afternoon, and i thought where did all these people come from, does nobody work (quite literally true though)
quite ironic as i was skidging school.

Might be ready for next season

You were probably listening to a different one, I was referring to two different interviews.
Interviewer: “Has there been any approach from Man City?”
No, none at all. It’s that time of the season now when the guys get to work, the representatives and all the guys that create the market, so lots of rumors and there will continue to be”
Brendan getting bored answering the same questions re incomings
Horses…
NOT a good day so far for myself and Trainer Aiden O’Brien with his first two Horses at York today being well beaten.
One more runner from Aiden still to come.
PLUS….I had a few quid on the FAV in the big race Today….it also failed to run well.
Onto the horses for Tomorrow….who knows ?

Ah right cool, so you I didn’t hear him confirm that the Kyogo link to City is the work of his agent.
Just listened to Brendan’s media conference.
Guy deserves a medal for patience and self control.
Just over 26 minutes long, the first question about our game this weekend came in the 26th minute.
… and what about him?” constantly beforehand.
Yawn.
BOURNESOUPRECIPE on 23RD AUGUST 2024 4:26 PM
I thought it was a good thing that he was obviously not going 🤷
I certainly didn’t expect to get pulled up on my interpretation of it, but maybe I need to be more careful in future
Just listened to our captain’s presser, a total waste of time taken up by questions often in the past tense about Scotland.
What I heard from Brendan
The current squad is not good enough to compete in champs league. He need (not wants) quality and experience (it worries me he didn’t 2-3 like before , resigned to the inevitable)
Recruitment structure is working tirelessly but need looked at after window – translates to it’s not effective enough to deliver the players he needs .
BIG week ahead and he and supporters are aligned on need to improve – massive pressure on the board/recruitment to step up. Clearly we are identifying players, now we need to pay for them – that may require ambition and increase salary scales for that level of player. (Reminded of Rodgers vision of buy for 10 sell for 30). Time for a mindset change Celtic.
The Kyogo story that I read was that City were looking at him and would make their minds up in the days ahead. I read nothing about City formally approaching Celtic.
Although I do think the “no contact from City” followed by a comment about representatives “making a market” isn’t exactly talking in riddles
Jesus. What a world we live in
No we don’t. We don’t live in that world.
Brendan tends to assert pressure on the board then row back from it.
3 weeks ago he was telling us all that Michael Nicholson and Chris McKay had his list of targets and that it was now in their hands while he focused on coaching.
He’s firmly put those lads front and centre ( I agree with him in that respect )so it’s perhaps understandable that some fans are growing restless. This ain’t our first rodeo.
No one wants to hear Brendan talk about the need for January reinforcements before the end of September, as we did last year.
Saint Stivs,
Those were good days, as you got to see some of the first team players coming back from injury or had been dropped, so there was always a good mix. If you didn’t make the squad, then a lot of times those players would go up to the forge, the pick n mix store was the place to be and many a sweetie was consumed in the main stand:))) I remember once we travelled to Pittodrie with only 11 players for a reserve game. They had Theo Snelders in goal as well as a few other dutch players coming back from injury. We beat them 2-1 I think and the journey took so long from Aberdeen. made it difficult to get back to Wishy on the 240 bus late on A saturday night, waiting on the road next to old Helenvale, that was a fun wait for a 17 yr old kid:))))
Jeez ma parents didnae luv me much :)))))))
Brendan struggled unconvincingly to answer when asked by a reporter, “Given the Club’s financial position, what’s the hold up?”
Plenty of excuses incoming on here….
It’s not all doom and ghloom – the Equaliser 3 is on sky cinema!
Bada
In that struggle to response – Brendan quickly said “Availability.. Affordability”
I think that just about covers all the bases and reasons.
Or is Brendan making excuses too?
