Any management team has only so much bandwidth. You see the effect of this in organisations when the pressure is applied. Urgent matters, the ones that come screaming into your inbox, or literally banging on your door, tend to take your focus.
Strategically important issues seldom do this. They can sit in the outfield for a long time, so much so, they blend into the background and you stop noticing them. Then something big happens and bang, you have an urgent matter which you could have dealt with months earlier.
Yesterday’s Scottish news saw an example of this. At an inquiry into deaths at Glasgow’s Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, a manager admitted he “dropped the ball” in not reacting to a report issued years earlier. An unusual admission of laxity.
Football clubs also a million things metaphorically banging on their door; there is always a crisis and always things which are not really today’s priorities that look like priorities. That’s why the little things, like submitting a planning request to Glasow City Council to make stadium changes to accommodate away fans can slip through the net.
The signs are that Newco management’s bandwidth is more constricted than most. They are making very visible mistakes. Unlike the hospital manager, their appetite for taking responsibility isn’t great. Results will soon out them.

BADA, that STV report contains a major ‘error’ in reporting. Contained in their report was the statement:
“The Hoops said they believed Ibrox would not be ready to host the return game at New Year.”
That categorically differs from the official Celtic statement which referred to the fact that the The R2ngers could not guarantee that Celtic fans could be present at the January fixture at Ayebrokes so therefore they (Celtic) reluctantly decided that no Huns would be present at out home game with them in September. (My paraphrasing there.)
If STV can get such a simple statement so categorically wrong it makes you wonder what else they get categorically wrong. Or, does it?

I disagree- I’m sure we have plans in place, but we’re not buying domestic appliances.
Saint Stivs on 23rd August 2024 5:33 pm
Agree. On its own £25 is not a lot. But once you add in potential £200 for CL tickets, ST’s and all the other cup games then Celtic supporters who attend all games spend a pretty penny.
Much more than any other supporters in Scotland.
Some may argue that that is the price of success and of course that is true. However a cash rich club could help offset some of the cost where possible.
On a slightly different topic. I remember when ST holders got free travel on Strathclyde transport on match days.
I was hoping that Dominic Mckay would bring in this sort of initiative and all the other initiatives that the Glasgow Warriors currently have.
HH.

Time will tell
Aye, some would moan if they were a fiver.
Evening all.
Did I just hear that right?
A so called Celtic supporter called Gavin, has just suggested that if Kyogo wants to leave then let him.
‘Gavin’ goes onto suggest that Celtic should buy Dessers as his replacement.
Then I’m sure a heard in ‘Gavin’s’ background a call of. ‘medication time, medication time👩⚕️
St Stivs,
The things that we can tell our kids today and they wouldn’t believe it:)))
I used to get the bus at 3:30 from Wishy Cross, walking up from St. Aidans. The bus would take forever to get to Parkhead and then I had to walk down to Barrowfield. Practice started at 7- 8:30, so I wouldn’t get home till about 11pm, I was 13 !!!! Now my 16 yr old kids are expecting cars instead of a bus pass, wtfeck.
I see kids at my school that drive 60-70’000 dollar cars that their parents give them when they turn 16.
My students ask me what I am getting for my birthday or Christmas and I answer the same thing, A celtic Jersey…much better and more reliable than yer car.
As Tommy Tiernan said, ” I wish someone had told me when I was in the good old days
‘Gavin’ was on Clyde SSB.
I really should no better

What chance have Celtic got 🤷🏼
Never have been not professed to be a body language expert, but to me , I thought Brendan looked pissed off big time.
Same old, same old they say, but if the board do not match his ambition, which I doubt, then I reckon he’ll be off again, and I would not blame him one little bit.
It is fairly well known that he does not see eye to eye with Peter Lawlwell, but our Irish billionaire wants Brendan.
Answer is pretty obvious, get rid of Peter.
I’m fed up with all the crap of, Oh well, we are a well run club, but only on the financial front. The rest is a shambles

SFTBS @ 1:53 PM,
“What if people have reasons and explanations but you see them as excuses? That could be the source of the problem- the failure to understand.
Nobody speaks in absolutes. Nobody says we can’t get good players to come here- that would be a mad view- Brighton and Atletico are/were in for Matt, Man City are in for Kyogo, and Arsenal bought Kieran. But people do say, it is harder for us, not impossible, to get good players; on that ground we might get agreement.
People also say that it’s hard to keep good players here; they don’t say it is impossible and they don’t buy the idea that Wanyama, Forster, VVD, Tierney, Christie, Armstrong and possibly MOR & Kyogo left because Celtic were desperate to sell them and piss off various managers. I’ve never heard any one of those players express regret like Jimmy McGrory did or Wallace & Hughes did when we did or tried to do, precisely that, to them in the Good Old days.
It’s an alternative opinion and it’s a minority opinion amongst Celtic fans whose views I respect but disagree with. It cannot be dismissed as merely a bought and paid for opinion or a stupid one. I’ll accept the many flaws I am regularly accused of having, but I’ll claim and prove myself to be of , at least, average, intelligence and I’ll claim and prove, I’ve never received a penny payment for any words I’ve uttered from anyone outside my previous employers, none of whom had a connection with Celtic or anyone at Board level.
Well it’s interesting my original comment which was about a specific type of Celtic internet poster (and certainly not like your good self) making excuses and managing expectations.
The comment was posted on SC but was taken up by some the wrong way across a couple of sites.
Obviously for several fholk to do this means it was the way I presented the comment, so apologies for that.
In general terms it is interesting reading your post in the light of Brendan Rodgers recent presser, the model of selling “Wanyama, Forster, VVD, Tierney, Christie, Armstrong and possibly MOR & Kyogo,” still stays in place but the Kyogo thing obviously seems to be a herring rouge.
He was open about the challenges our Club and other Clubs have in the transfer window
Yet some things were very clear, the anomaly that the Board Strategy is to bring in players needing development, but don’t bring the players in, in a timely manner to allow the coaches that development time.
The other thing, which I thought was interesting was his admission that he’d more or less given up on the chase for the third, young striker – it wasn’t a main priority.
It suggests he’s focused on what is achievable in the short time left – improving the team by bringing in quality in a few key positions .
So that certainly would seem to be a cut back on the original objectives and goals this window and of course he said he was happy with the players we’ve signed but stated that only takes us to back to where we were last season.
He also stated that he didn’t want to booster the squad, we had enough of that type of player, he wanted to improve the first team – in terms of quality he said he thought paying more money for players was often necessary and he would keep pushing for that.
So no excuses but certainly talk of mitigating circumstances and a it seems to me a clear distinction between business objectives and football objectives.
Interestingly he gave an overview of how the recruitment process works at Celtic
It clearly means that those that stated it was Brendan Rodger’s process now and he was in charge were mistaken
In fact it was very similar the stated process last year – the recruitment team sift through the candidates, they present their short list to the Manager, the preferred candidates go to the Board for approval and then the process of procurement takes place.
On the possibility of transfer failure he stated “I’ve been here before” which was a telling comment. He also repeated the recruitment dept needed revamped after this window.
All in all my take away, the more things change with Celtic recruitment, the more it stays the same…
Hail Hail
Just home from a wee trip on the Waverley from 10am – 6pm.
Worth every penny. Beautiful parts of the country you would only see from the water .
I want to know why Brighton are messing about. Do you want Matt or don’t you.

” These are the good old days. Just you wait and see.”
I can`t remember who wrote the original.

*Mrs. TT is a big fan on the Waverly and the Jeannie Deans making plenty of trips fae Craigendoran tae Rothesay as a wee lassie, so where did you go as its on our bucket list next time we are over
WHO should negotiate player recruitment ?
The company lawyer specialising in Sports law. ?
The Finance Direcotr who agrees the budget ?
both of them ?
alongside an HR specialist ? who might tell the agent, no that is gross, the player pays tax.
or the football guy and a couple of supporters.
Negotiating lease took many months, even once you have a standard agreement for a players contracts depending on what country they come from there will be many language considerations.
but hey ho, it should be really really easy, and quick, we have the money.
why havnt brighton closed the matt deal yet ? why are they leaving it till next week ?

the contention is, looking at the good old body language, that he is fed up with the board not getting him players and having previous for walking away he could again.
offcourse answering the same dumb ass questions time after time might piss him off more,
in the week till the end of transfer window i would put anyone in the hot seat rather than any of the football team and coaches.
it would be funny if the SLO, OR pEDRO, OR THE TOUR GUIDE CAME OUT and handled them.
If the blog doesn’t mind.

I didn’t really pick up on this the other day and I might be being paranoid here but I think you might be referring to me.
I think this is out of hand now. I think this is really unhealthy for the board. I understand my part in the atmosphere that’s been created on here, it’s one long petty squabble, petty personal vendettas based on very narrow viewpoints
I can’t say for sure but I think the majority of people on here would prefer not to look at it all day everyday.
You said the other day that when it comes to Brendan Rodgers “ “I’ve made it quite clear I’m going to accentuate the positive, eliminate the negative…”. You suggest I’m the main negative about so I’m offering to make life much easier for you and save you a heap of work while making it he board a far more pleasant place for everyone else.
My suggestion:
1. We both stop posting on here entirely. I’ll stop right now and won’t post again if you don’t
Or
2. I will stop posting about Brendan, making any reference to Brendan, if you do the same about the board. Or we can both stop posting about Brendan and the board. I have a personal interest in football finance but I’m prepared to stop posting about it with regard to Celtic. I would also stop referring to you in or answering any of my posts, I don’t mind if you refer to mine.
I think either option would be of great benefit to the CQN comments section which has turned into a bit of a shitshow recently. You would benefit from not having to eliminate a lot of what seems to wind you up.
I would also do 1 if you do 2, and I’ll do it, I won’t come back under a new name.
I’ll stop posting now but look out for your reply
