Constricted club management bandwidth

570

Any management team has only so much bandwidth.  You see the effect of this in organisations when the pressure is applied.  Urgent matters, the ones that come screaming into your inbox, or literally banging on your door, tend to take your focus.

Strategically important issues seldom do this.  They can sit in the outfield for a long time, so much so, they blend into the background and you stop noticing them.  Then something big happens and bang, you have an urgent matter which you could have dealt with months earlier.

Yesterday’s Scottish news saw an example of this.  At an inquiry into deaths at Glasgow’s Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, a manager admitted he “dropped the ball” in not reacting to a report issued years earlier.  An unusual admission of laxity.

Football clubs also a million things metaphorically banging on their door; there is always a crisis and always things which are not really today’s priorities that look like priorities.  That’s why the little things, like submitting a planning request to Glasow City Council to make stadium changes to accommodate away fans can slip through the net.

The signs are that Newco management’s bandwidth is more constricted than most.  They are making very visible mistakes.  Unlike the hospital manager, their appetite for taking responsibility isn’t great.  Results will soon out them.

  1. I read the news today oh bhoy…

Another Sellic kid has made the the grade

And tho the news was rather sad..

Nobody is really sure about the place that he has gone

    La La La La LALahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

    All the best Matt….

  2. By the way maybe that’s the question being asked in the offices and meetings inside Celtic Park……

Awe aye and “who would you sign”?

    D. :)

  3. We could lose half the 1st team and still win the Treble by a landslide.

Every SPL club outside of Celtic and Dundee could be looked at as bottom 6 material.

So what do we really need to spend money for?

You could give Brendan the full £125-£150 million to spend or whatever it is now, and we`d still be lucky to get a single point in the CL group games.

BR only knows one way to play and it gets our arses kicked in Europe…for 8 years now ffs!

BR is the problem not the players.

Stevie Clarke and his Killie players and their parked bus would get more CL points than anything that BR puts on the pitch, because SC and Killie would approach the CL games BASED ON REALITY!

The Celtic Way wont work in CL it can`t work without Jock Stein and HIS players…anything else is tacking the piss and being paid handsomely for it with Dim As Fck Celtic fans money!

    DimbDumb totally sucks!

  9. Sorry to see Matt leave, lovely footballer.

Also sorry because I doubt the money taken will be invested in upgrading the team to reach European standards.

That being said, in the last 3 seasons our most important players have been: Calmac, CV and big Joe, in that order. Matt and Hatate coming next.

Bernardo and Kuhn will take up the slack…. but we need investment for Europe.

  10. Sad reading back a hunskelper of to the mighty BHA we’d accept Stu Armstrong.

Celtic FC not PLC ya bass

  12. I’m saddened by the news tried to avoid but come and read we’d take SA back is slightly underwhelming as I’m sure you’d understand.

  13. If Brendan can do as good a job as Ange did in his first transfer window or his second then fair play to him.

  14. Best of luck to Matt O

He was brilliant on the park and even more impressive at the Hydro .. wish him all the very best

Celtic … please try and keep Kyogoal 🇯🇵🇯🇵

Kyogo & Idah … will hopefully play together this season

    Larsson & Sutton vibes 🍀🍀🍀

  15. Armstrong would be a classic Brendan move. I don’t know if it would work but he is a good pro with loads of experience who knows what it’s about here. Also a smart lad and a good lad.

Gutted to see Matt go, hunskelper extraordinaire. Hope he does well for the rest of career.

Stuart Armstrong was a great player but by all accounts didn’t “enjoy” being a Celtic player

More about the outside stuff than Celtic

  19. In reality it is time for new hero’s and I accept were we are in the football food chain nowadays which is sometime difficult😩

I still fondly remember the halcyon days of the jungle.😂

Stood with my grandfather my dad uncle’s and pals who took me and introduced be to this part of this great family.

Let’s get moving promptly and give the fans a feel good factor again I feel we’ve missed in this window.

  23. B78-very predictable anti Brendan Rodgers innuendos kidding nobody on here, you want him to fail,as he called out your hero’s useless son,who we are probably still paying for gardening leave, but you said on here consistently, he would be moving to a far bigger club than Celtic, where is he now?

  24. And before you come out with the Ange stuff,it’s absolute shite,he was a junior HR guy at Man City Academy
