Any management team has only so much bandwidth. You see the effect of this in organisations when the pressure is applied. Urgent matters, the ones that come screaming into your inbox, or literally banging on your door, tend to take your focus.
Strategically important issues seldom do this. They can sit in the outfield for a long time, so much so, they blend into the background and you stop noticing them. Then something big happens and bang, you have an urgent matter which you could have dealt with months earlier.
Yesterday’s Scottish news saw an example of this. At an inquiry into deaths at Glasgow’s Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, a manager admitted he “dropped the ball” in not reacting to a report issued years earlier. An unusual admission of laxity.
Football clubs also a million things metaphorically banging on their door; there is always a crisis and always things which are not really today’s priorities that look like priorities. That’s why the little things, like submitting a planning request to Glasow City Council to make stadium changes to accommodate away fans can slip through the net.
The signs are that Newco management’s bandwidth is more constricted than most. They are making very visible mistakes. Unlike the hospital manager, their appetite for taking responsibility isn’t great. Results will soon out them.

Hope this works! 1961 Doug Sheldon. Still stands up to this today. Well I think so!

5 or6 in is not a problem …. we’ve already shown we can do quantity . Quality is a different matter .
My heart tells me 2/3 first team readies might happen . My head and recent history, tells me to not get my hopes up .
End of season we are all having fun with the Dutch Dundee Utd keeper Seeb Dykstra brown skinned amd moustache and handsome and who was leaving and right in front of us and from nowhere after some great banter Dykstra who’s jigging to the full Celtic end chant Dykstra’s a porn star.
In the 90s we sang this as we did that day also when UTD were being relegated.🤣

Armstrong was a bit of a player. No brainer.
Plenty of goals.
The big Pole.A CH,and a loan LB.
Sorted.
Kelly or Vata were BRs idea of 3rd striker. Now quite rightly its Maeda.
For me thats his best position.
Best wishes Matt O’Riley. You came to Celtic, lived the dream, played against some of the best teams in European football, won medals and trophies and gave us your best shot.
We made you a better players and now you leave with our blessing.
This is the message we send out to aspiring young players.
We have lots to offer. Players will come to Parkhead on this basis.
As for Stuart Armstrong. Not for me. When you leave the hoops there are consequences. We are not a boomarang club for former aging players.
It seldom works out anyway.

By the way maybe that’s the question being asked in the offices and meetings inside Celtic Park……
Awe aye and “who would you sign”?

I agree about not bringing back former players like Armstrong . Fond memories can be misleading ….. we would not be getting the same player back , nothing like it in fact . Equally with Keiran Tierney . … an injury ravaged version of the player we remember so fondly .
Thanks for everything Matty O.
All the best big guy,
Release the funds . csc
Danny Armstrong not Stuart for me.

As the hysteria hits fever pitch, a few recommendations to keep you sane over the next week.
‘Extraordinary Popular Delusions and the Madness of Crowds’ by Charles Mackay is only £1.99 on Kindle.
Here’s a version on the same theme by Charles Kindelberger (it’s free 👍):
https://delong.typepad.com/manias.pdf
‘Thinking Fast and Slow’ by Daniel Kahneman is also excellent as is ‘Noise’, which he he co-authored with two others.
Good luck and see you on the other side👍
The last tune from me and good night and God bless you all.

Left back understudy to Greg, centre half cover for CCV & Scalesy …. and KEEP .. Kyogoal .. the wee mhan will earn more with his goals than any champions league guff
🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵
Brighton being lauded for selling their good players and having new ones lined up but untested. We get slaughtered for having a guy already in the building ready to slot in who played here last year and is not on a permanent deal.
Weird
And WAS not on a permanent deal then
Have patience.
Do be careful your bitterness doesn’t eat you up though.
Plenty of time for Brendan as a manager. My son really rated him and Chris Davies for different reasons when he worked there.
No time for him and when he plays games and he has his limitations.
I really do hope he can do as well as ange did with the transfers in. If he comes close then that will be great for the club.
Frankly even decent short term wins would be good for now.
I am not holding my breath though as it isn’t easy. I won’t go blaming him either as it isn’t easy.
Above to Bada Bing
So we are worse off then than last season end.
Aþ last B78 admits it.
By the way Armstrong that just shows what a shit show behind the scenes are at Celtic Park.
Unbelievable

Burnley 78
We all have our own Celtic
Am with you … enjoy the good times fae better than the bad old times of the EBT years :-)
Enjoy Celtic 🍀
Apparently no players worth buying are available until the end of the window. Except our players.
Seems that mantra only applies to buying players, not selling them.
Gaslighting Quick News.
Peter Lawell is more of a Celtic fan than many of his detractors :-)
Fact 🍀
PLB
For a Celtic fan that is a shocking moniker
Maybe you thought it was funny … it’s not
My understanding of what Brendan said re incomings was that…
‘He’s told the recruitment team what he’s wanting
The ones who are currently doing that recruity job are working hard on finding targets within the club model
(But BR incidentally intimated the recruitment system/process needs a reboot/revamp)
They’re presenting selection of prospects to him, but he wants proper quality not more potential
Some of the ones we targeted chose to go elsewhere
And there’s a firmness amid the suits to just sign players whose package expectations are a bit higher than they’re comfy with…
Plus, clubs are hanging onto players til the last gasp which is not ideal for prepping our squad for Europe…’
Evidently BR has ambitions for us to play better. The suits are wedded to doing business as strongly as they can – I have to admit the wheeling/dealing has been very successful.
Mibby we’ll only get x2 in now – an LB and a new middy, either Bogusz or Tessman?
LOGGERHEADS CSC
Sorry…
And there’s a resistance amid the suits to sign players whose package expectations are higher than they’re comfy with…

Double the wages but no champions league anymore.
It is all a out the money.
ANTEARMANN
On top of sad, it’s callously conceived criminality.
Meanwhile I shrug shoulders, sigh and distract myself with comparatively trivial transfer angst.
Greenpinata – Good stuff buddy. Agree 100%
Good Morning Celtica – Grand Day To Be A Tim
Well, there will be a time when Celtic are in a position to keep a great footballer and all round top bhoy like Matt some more seasons – maybe into their mid-twenties prime.
Not in the current environment though and maybe not in my lifetime.
So fare ye well young O’Riley, Hope you knock ’em dead in the EPL
SFtBs @ 8:58 PM,
Yes your first paragraph is another aspect of what I was meaning when I stated fholk were picking me up wrong, I’ve no idea where you are coming from there.
You talk about “side of the mouth utterences” why? “Fraudgers” the myth is it?
I’ve got to ask if you listened to the press conference, you give the impression you did in some ways but clearly hadn’t got many of the points, so just curious to know if you are going by my comments or what was actually said at the presser?
Brendan Rodgers took half an hour to explain in as much detail as reasonably possible what was going on – it was quite a significant presser and well worth a listen.
The Development thing is simple, if you bring in players that need to be “coached” then bring them in early in the window
It allows the Coaching and conditioning staff to work with the new recruits, integrate and prepare the players – put a development plan together, that time is simply not available during the season.
There is no weaselly words, he clearly pointed out, like Paul67 has been stating, the nature of a transfer window means some activities are pushed toward the end of the window.
…”for a lot in this line it’s all about business – we have super intellectual people here, with great business minds and that’s why they have been so successful – I come from a football mind I want the best football team on the pitch, that’s the bottom line…. I’m excited by that…
It’s like I’ve been calling it, the middle way, lots of scope for the business guys to get their share of the pie and the football guys get theirs’.
There has been several posters stating that the recruitment process was now Brendan’s, again pointing the finger and naming, names is a nonsense in my book, yet if you do the three monkeys stuff and profess to have not seen them TINYTIM and BURNLEY78 are two, even last night it was being reiterated.
Brendan Rodgers made it clear how the recruitment process works – it is the standard Celtic process – the Board heavily involved and having the final say as you would obviously expect.
As I said t’uther day, he who pays the piper calls the chooon!!!
Again, just like the list that Brendan Rodgers claimed he had given the Board (generated from said process) Mr Rodgers has stated clearly what the recruitment process is, in a National Press Conference – if he is wrong, then the Executive will no doubts put the record straight but how could it be any different?
Again BR made it clear when asked about his frustration “if you miss out on a player”…
“I’ve been here before, I can manage it better now, this is the club I want to be at – it doesn’t make me less ambitious…”
It’s all quite clear, it’s all above board, no weaselly words, no side of mouth…
Please, listen, it’s well worth seeing what’s going down.

Have A Great Day – Aff Oot
Hail Hail
I know most will not read this as I am writing at a time when most are in their scratchers back home, but I feel I had to write this. I was sitting looking through old videos on YouTube of Wee Jiinky and the lions, and it got me to thinking how blessed have we been to have had players like that wear our jersey. It got me to think about am I just getting old and more sentimental, but no!!! That love had always been there. That tingle on the hairs on the back of your neck when the fans are belting out walk on. Trying to rattle off my favorite players and running out of space as there are too many. In my generation of 52 yrs young, I’ve Ben blessed to see Danny McGrain, Charlie Nic, Paul McStay, TB, Roy Aitken, John Collins and many others after that and I’m not talking about in recent memory as we could talk at length about Henrik and broonie and Lubo and Cal Mac, just to name a few. Great players and even better people.
In these days when there is so much angst about the transfer window and watching good Tim’s argue with each other, are we forgetting that it wasn’t always like it is today, winning. Some of those players k mentioned their medals were few and far between, but what satisfaction they gave us. I have tried to spread the green and white gospel over here and I think people see my passion and wish that they had that with their teams. Everyone jumps on the EPL bandwagon but they still don’t have what we have my friends, that spiritual home. Don’t think I am writing this as a drunken stupor as I don’t drink . I am writing this as a Celtic fan, proud of our team, proud of our fans, proud of what it means to support such a wonderful club. I watched Jinky dance past player after player tonight. Get hacked by everyone, and just getting back to his feet and saying give me the ball again. What a player, taken too young at 62. He came and practiced with us once and when it was over, I swear my auld man was in tears. I went home and told everyone and anyone about our practice and was in awe that that just happened. I couldn’t imagine supporting anyone else as they are missing what we have. We will continue to have ups and downs but we have a duty to keep the green and white fires burning so we can pass it on to the next lucky ones. What players we have seen. I could go on and on as the list is endless . When one of our players passes on it hurts and it is a genuine pain as we adored them. It feels like we have lost a family member because that is what Celtic is. We all know families are not perfect, and fight with each other, but the love still remains. Feel free to pass over my drivel, but I had to get this off my chest.
Hail Hail
Sean
Top of the morning,
😎
Grateful to be alive and a Celtic fan.
💚🤍💛
Great post Chair & Boo.
👏 👏
Thanks Boondock Saint…
If only we had a few more football men and not lawyers and accountants on the board.
We’d be in a better place squad wise.
I don’t know what’s going on at Ibrox. According to (bbc news this morning)Phileep they hope to be back at ibrox after this weekends game …….

Fantastic post buddy. 👏 👏👏
I’ve avoided reading too much and posting loads the past few weeks. As this place has turned a bit volatile and I really can’t be arsed with conflict.
At the end of the day, we’re all tims who surely all want the same thing.
I’m not too chuffed with the transfers to date, but waiting to see if Brendan gets the players he wants by the time the window closes. If he doesn’t and it’s the same old excuses that we’ve all heard a thousand times, the fans have the right to be properly pissed off! Especially those that pay for season tickets, merchandise etc (I am not one of those btw).
Every fan has a right to criticise, but let’s wait until the window closes first before giving it both barrels.
This will be one of the most telling windows in our recent history. As it will show the club’s ambitions up more than most others I can think of.
We either want to dominate at home and not much else or, we also want to make our mark in European competitions.
Which of these the board wants for the club will become clear by the time the window closes.
Mon the hoops! 😃🍀🇮🇪🏆🏆🏆⚽️
Oh , Mornin.
Off to a wee charity game off golf, hope the weather’s kind as my game is is testing enough .
Toodles.
