Any management team has only so much bandwidth. You see the effect of this in organisations when the pressure is applied. Urgent matters, the ones that come screaming into your inbox, or literally banging on your door, tend to take your focus.
Strategically important issues seldom do this. They can sit in the outfield for a long time, so much so, they blend into the background and you stop noticing them. Then something big happens and bang, you have an urgent matter which you could have dealt with months earlier.
Yesterday’s Scottish news saw an example of this. At an inquiry into deaths at Glasgow’s Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, a manager admitted he “dropped the ball” in not reacting to a report issued years earlier. An unusual admission of laxity.
Football clubs also a million things metaphorically banging on their door; there is always a crisis and always things which are not really today’s priorities that look like priorities. That’s why the little things, like submitting a planning request to Glasow City Council to make stadium changes to accommodate away fans can slip through the net.
The signs are that Newco management’s bandwidth is more constricted than most. They are making very visible mistakes. Unlike the hospital manager, their appetite for taking responsibility isn’t great. Results will soon out them.

Bada Bing – Brighton don’t swoop for players and jet them in?
Meanwhile DD’s Dassault Falcon X (M CELT) is being dusted off for a busy week of star signings/golf trips – place your bets ladies and gentlemen.

Well said. Matt is not only a lovely footballer, but is also a lovely person. I wish him all the best and thank him for the memories.
Burchill produced a final swansong in the Hoops with a hat-trick in just four minutes as Celtic demolished Luxembourg no-hopers Jeunesse Esch 7-0 at Parkhead in a UEFA Cup tie on 24th August 2000.
If Atalanta offer £18-20 million for CCV, our CBs next week will be Scales and Welsh
Let’s be honest, Brighton aren’t simply able to sign Matt because they have a proper recruitment team, it is because they play in the EPL.
Am I understanding this correctly?
Some people believe Brendan Rogers was brought back to Celtic so that he could be deprived of transfer funds and then sacked when the team ultimately fails as a result?
Do some people actually believe that?
If my aunty had baws……..
How do you keep a player happy if they can go to one of the top leagues and earn five times as much as Celtic can afford to pay?
I fear with more games for a lot of our bhoys this season including international games and travel a few injuries like last year we could see a drop in form and feel it like last year.
The Huddle,
Yes,you are100% correct.Same old crap every day, every week, every year.Boring ,repetitive ,pointless. They are all on this morning once again. All the usual suspects.I swear to God they sit festering, just waiting for an opening, then, spew the same bile they have been spewing for years.Nothing new, nothing informative, just the same mantra” Board,Law well,Board,Lawwell,Get Rid,Get Rid”with no earthly idea how this could be accomplished. So many fans, like myself, perfectly neutral to the dramas, the politics,at Board level, who just enjoy watching Celtic win, just watching Celtic, named any name they can think of,in their Zealot brains.Watching Celtic has lost any of the enjoyment the abused get from it,for them.Sad that something so wonderful can fill you with so much anger.Even sadder, they will read this and will revert to type” Lawwellite”.
Tragic people.

Yawn….
Bada,
You know fine well,if Atalanta make an offer,it has to be conveyed to the player by Celtic. If it was the proper fee required, then it is up to the player.
You are being disingenuous with this as you know Celtic knocked back 5 offers from Atalanta for Matt.
ONIL,
😂😂😂😂😂😂
Well done. You would have been among the Favs to comment.Proving my point.
if there’s a set figure in his contract, he’s off,you might understand this,it’s very common when clubs extend players contracts, MOR must have been £25 million, not difficult to work out
Absolutely nothing disingenuous……it’s reality

“When is the last time we won a knockout tie over 2 legs?”
—————————-
It wasn’t that long ago.
Since we’ve automatically qualified for CL the past 2 seasons we haven’t had to face a qualifier knock out tie since the season before 21/22. (Despite the later start and the absence of qualifiers, we finished 4th each time in the CL Group for the past 2 seasons).
In 21/22, we lost to Midtjylland in a knock out tie and got knocked out of the CL. We then played 2 knock out ties against Jablonec and AZ Alkmaar winning both on aggregate 7:2 for the former & 3:2 for the latter. We qualified for the Europa and avoided being knocked out.
Of course, some people don’t count them as knock out ties, even though you do get knocked out if you lose them. By ignoring that we get to justify expressions like embarrassment and disgrace by being able to refer all the way back to 2003/4 Uefa run as we have lost 6 post-Xmas knock out its since then
And the apologists gather…..
What is it with these Sport Programmes, same old ex players who aren’t short of few bob ,surely they should give these football players who didn’t make a fortune and give them the gigs
Final Superbru reminder for Cosy Corner Bhoy, McCaff & Tooting Tim
As an aside, many people are often confused/misled by nominal and real prices, something economists call ‘money illusion’.
If, buts and maybes – if you believe “official” data, the price level in the UK has risen by just over 24% since 2019.
Why 2019? If Kieren Tierney was sold for £25m, that £25m is equivalent to just over £31m in “today’s money”.
If MOR is sold for £25m, it is not a transfer record.
I don’t get the hysterics regarding the sale of O’Riley. We all knew for months that he would be leaving if the clubs valuation was met. We lived in hope that would not be the case. We have 1 more week of trading before we can determine how the strength of the squad will measure up.
SFTB- Abysmal, and some think that we are a Champions League club?
Father Charlie , Thursday at 8.26 pm
Your prayers are greatly appreciated , thank you
Bada
We are in the CL, therefore we are a CL side.
The question is are we good enough to qualify from the first group.
Whether you are a bedwetter or a happy clapper, the time between now and the end of the window is going to be a rollercoaster. No matter where you stand and whatever happens, we will still all be ‘Tic fans. Worth remembering when there is such a diverse view of our players, manager and Board. Hail Hail
Gene- pretty sure you know what I mean
The reason lads like O’Riley come to Celtic, is they know we are high profile, will be likely to win trophies, will have European Football and accordingly are a stepping stone to bigger things,
For us Celtic fans that can be hard to swallow but it’s a fact of life.
If we stop Board Bashing for a minute think of O’Riley himself, he has delivered for us in spades, he is now probably doubling his salary, playing in a much bigger League and more than likely will be using Brighton as another stepping stone.
How could we refuse him a transfer, what message would that send to young emerging talent that we are trying to entice into The Club.
Buying the likes of O’Riley, improving him, getting 2 or 3 good years out of him & selling him on for big bucks is exactly what we should be doing.
The key factor is what we do with the money. I have no problem with the Club keeping some reserves and channeling some money into improving the Stadium & various facilities etc, however the First Team Squad is the absolute priority.
We have one week left, we need a very minimum of 4 ready made players who will improve the squad.
If this doesn’t happen I will go bat shit crazy along with everyone else, I will suspend judgement until window closes.
Bada
I certainly do – and unless we improve the squad this time next year we may not be

Sounds like you have been in the Shipbank with the ship wrecks ? 🤪
Nonsense CSC
Tanner Tessmann who we were linked with, going to Lyon
Turkeybhoy – I take it you include yourself in the same shite day in day out.
1 day yo tell us all is good then it’s a shambles.
If you think our recruitment process is all good and dandy then more fool you.
This is a blog and I will type what I want.
I suppose sitting in Turkey makes the heart grow fonder and you think you can pontificate over us mere mortals/fans that pay hard earned cash to watch the same recruitment pish year on year.
I can assure my love for Celtic is just as good as yours and that is why I want a top class set up.
By the way it is not hard to set that up unless you have an agenda.
D. :)
I had to check man u team sheet to make sure Gregg Taylor wasn’t playing after they lost a soft goal from a cross. No it wasn’t Gregg it was their multimillion pound defence.
Corkcelt – Everyone wishes MO all the best , players will come players will go.
It’s procedures to replace leaving players that fans are pissed off about, its the same on every blog.
I was on SC last few days and posters are saying the same thing 6,7,8,9,10 month to replace players is not good enough.
D. :)
