Contingency party arrangements

831

Those of you with a ticket for Sunday can wish for an Aberdeen win tonight all you like, but be ready with contingency party arrangements, just in case. I know it’s six-in-a-row, I know this isn’t 1998, the towns and villages of Lanarkshire will not be adorned in green and white, but don’t switch your phone on after leaving a cinema tonight to hear than an hour earlier Celtic became Premiership champions, season 2016-17.

Winning the title without watching Celtic play is far from ideal. Winning the title away from Celtic Park has always involved more stress than I thought is absolutely necessary, but I’m as excited today as any of you will be with your match tickets in hand on Sunday morning.

In 10 hours we could be champions again! Get ready for it.

Wee Shay’s Green Army

Lennybhoy and TommyTwistsTommyTurns are looking for volunteers to distribute fliers for Wee Shay’s Green Army Raffle (which will be drawn on Thursday 25th May 2017 at Celtic Park).

They are looking for volunteers to distribute fliers advertising the raffle ahead of the Partick Thistle game at Celtic Park on 5 April. If anyone can help, please email walkwithshay@yahoo.com .

Thank you.

Enjoy yourself tonight, I have a feeling……….

  13. Federico Roccio began his mammoth trek, which has taken him across Europe, a decade ago – but it’s a trip to Glasgow that he’ll always remember.

Federico, meeting Celtic fans, right, says no atmosphere compares to Parkhead

A football mad Italian who has visited more than 300 football stadiums around the world has declared that Celtic Park the best of them all.

Federico Roccio began his mammoth trek a decade ago, after telling friends he could follow AC Milan wherever they played, and it’s a journey that’s taken him to 600 matches across 25 countries.

Remembering how it all began, Federico – who is known as the Ground Hopper – told GianlucaDiMarzio.com: “It’s a passion that was born in the 2006-2007 season as a bit of a joke.

Federico began his challenge a decade ago

He’s visited some of the world’s biggest stadiums

“I followed went on Milan trips with my father and, after realising my friends had seen more stages than me, it turned into an obsession.”

What started out as a fun challenge soon took over Federico’s life and the man, who had to give up his dreams of turning professional after an injury, was soon trekking around Europe to cheer on his heroes.

Old Trafford, the Allianz Arena, the Westfalenstadion in Germany, he’s seen them all – but it was a trip to Glasgow in 2013 that really stood out.

The home support watched their side crash out of the Champions League and European competition altogether after a devastating 3-0 defeat at the hands of the Italian giants.

Federico, though, will always remember their spirit – so passionate that it reduced him to tears.

He said: “I’ve been to 25 countries including Germany , France , Spain and England. The stadium that excited me most of all was Celtic Park . I cried. Despite a heavy 3-0 loss, the fans just kept singing and they invited us to drink well with them. It was fantastic.”

Although he loves nothing more than watching up to six games a weekend during one of his adventures, Federico admits it does take a lot of planning to make everything work and, when taking into account flights and everything else he needs, his hobby can be a costly one.

The journey has taken Federico to all weathers

It’s given him more than it’s taken, though, and now he’s looking to document his remarkable travels in a book – but he’s not putting away his passport just yet.

“I have started writing a book. The title at the moment is “Tales of a Ground Hooper” – to finish it will take a good year or so. I want to keep going and see as much as possible, with the ultimate goal being a World Cup final,” Federico added.

  15. Absolutely beautiful day in Tipperary, a great day to see Celtic win six in a row.

To all Celts here who had to live through the barren years, to all those who had their hearts broken by Financial Doping & corrupt referees, throw back your shoulders & stick your chest out. Our day has come & reading Brendan saying that this Title was dedicated to Tommy Burns has just made this day all the more special.

Tommy you are here and you will always be here, God Bless You.

  16. Good morning CQN from a sunny Edinburgh Waverley station, heading to Heathrow.

We started this journey on the 7th August last year, the weekend I was heading to Brunei to see Mrs PMTYH. I watched the starting game of the season at Tynecastle in the Capt Morgan in Hayes and Scotty Sinclair did the bizzo.

Coincidentally I am on my way to Brunei again today and the end of our quest could very well be Tynecastle. I’ll settle for another 2-1 win with Sinky doing the business again. This time I need to watch the game on a sausage with my iPad.

  18. 50 shades of green on

I was born on October the 12th 1960.

I was nearly 8 before I realised that I didn’t like Man Utd.

I moved to EK in 1971, and the first guy I met was a Man Utd fan, he was/ is a tosser then and probably now, so my dislike for Man Utd grew.

In 1979 I moved to North London and for my sins on a Saturday ( games were on a Saturday back then) I went to watch the Gooners.

One of my first games at Highbury was the Gooners V Man Utd, there fans were deplorable from a Gooners point of view.

In the early part of this century I hawked (?) all my worldy goods to enable me to go and see the team my father brought me up to support,in a European final

However we lost to a guy that would have cheated his granny if it allowed his team a victory, that he became the manager of a team in have disliked most of my life,( MAN United ) to me was all the proof I needed that I was right all along in my distain of this club.

So my question is this, after reading all of the above, can anyone explain to me,

WHY O WHY did I think it was a good idea to take—————–

MAN effin UTD in GFS 2.???????????????

  19. “I think of the great man Tommy Burns, who never ever won a title here [as a manager]. And you think of the commitment he gave to the club and the privilege it is for me to lead the club when we actually do get over the line,” said Rodgers, pictured above. “There will be many thoughts for many people and hopefully they can be proud of the work we have done. Yeah, it’s been a great season so far but we want to get the job done as quickly as we can.

“If we can, to then win the league while unbeaten is a great achievement. Then we can really focus on the semi-final. That’s why I can’t really give the players too much rest. Because they lose rhythm and we have to be careful of that. We want to arrive at the semi-final in the best possible place we can be.”

  20. What is the Stars on

    Big Jimmy

Re Victor Mcglaglen, The Quiet Man and She wore a yellow Ribbon.

Here is some interesting trivia for you. Also starring alongside Victor in those movies was Arthur shields ( brother of Barry Fitzgerald, famous for playing irish priests)

Arthur was a promising young stage actor who took part in the Easter Rising (he went to the abbey theatre on Easter Monday to retrieve his rifle from its hiding place under the stage before reporting to Liberty Hall to march with Connolly and The Citizens Army to the GPO. He was among a small group of volunteers who made it to Moore Street with Pearse before the surrender. After internment in Frongoch he went to America and resumed his acting career with great success. The man who took the surrender in Moore Street, general John Lowe had a son who also became a Hollywood actor. He starred alongside Arthur in several movies.

Many people put UTLR at the end of their posts on here.

When Arthur Shields, a young Dublin protestant socialist would be actor was holed up in Moore Street surrounded by Brittanias Huns he literally meant it.

watched all the dundee game this morning, know what, 2 going on 6, some great periods of attacking play,

another wee observation from yesterday. i was up the gallowgate yesterday late afternoon, and there was hundreds of heavy metal rockers going to the barras, weird and wonderful, all shapes and sizes, tattoos, peircings, ghoulish t shirts, hairy bikers, gothic garb, leather and studs, not menacing, but almost from another world ………….

then one solitary zombie walked out of morrisons, blue washed out 5 star red 32 top on, a coupon that was snarling, and turning the daffodils black as he walked past,

and all the rockers well looked kinda normal.

Thats what we are facing between now and the end of the season. For Hearts this will be their biggest game of the season, if they can stop our title celebrations it will be like winning it themselves almost. And any other team trying to stop the Invincible 11.

Lets go out and really FeCK them up. HH
