Copa America took a turn for the better for Celtic last night. Cameron Carter-Vickers’ second half appearance was not enough to prevent USA from losing to Panama. That result leaves both sides on three points going into the final group game. The USA face Uruguay (two wins from two) in their final game while Panama play Bolivia (two defeats from two).
The final group games take place on Tuesday, so Cameron could be back home to cast his vote on Thursday. Let’s hope.
Alistair Johnston’s Canada need a point against Chile on Sunday to progress to the quarter finals. Canada have the advantage as they got a better result against Peru but Chile are favourites to win. It would be good to see both defenders home soon.
Sead Haksabanovic is one of a procession of wingers who passed through Parkhead gates over the last decade without leaving much of an impression behind. At 25, he is still young enough to make a good career in the game, but as with all players, he needs a run of games. Hopefully he’ll get that at Malmo.

It’s on Premier sports .
Don’t encourage thon bladderskate he gets all fidgin’ fain
Frank Gray was one of the standout players in our school team- St. Margaret Mary’s in Castlemilk. Jock tried to get him to Celtic but older brother Eddie was already at Leeds and made sure he ended up there. He has no regrets earning 2 European Cup medals with 2 different clubs, a losers medal with Leeds and a winners one with Notts Forest.
I don’t know if his grandson is worth £40m, I suspect not, but there is a premium to be had on young English talent, so a lesson there for our sale of Matt Riley.
Journalism, politics and general online debate have been dumbed down in a generation.
One and done til tok videos, 280 characters (used to be 140, so that’s progreas) are rhe extent of many opinions.
Words and phrases have replaced informed decisions- woke, far right, far left, refugees, racist, diversity, offensive.
It’s all very confusing and feels a little simplistic
Can only hope my opinions don’t offend!
Financial year window about to slam shut.
Monies in.
Annual report around September 18.
Business as usual.
Corporation tax bill will be hefty again, minimise this cost as much as possible, but i know some don’t bother about that, I would rather spend the money on first team player(s)
the club paying tax on profits, i like it, it is better than not making a profit and not paying tax.
them ambulance workers at the games, they dont pay for themselves.
Superbru Update
Scaniel, celtic mac & One Malloy still to trap for today’s matches- 5 pm deadline.
We knew there would be one or two shock results in the last 16 but the skill is in predicting which ties will produce the shocks so congrats to Disco Desk, Por Cierto, hairlikespaghetti & Hamiltontim who all predicted a Swiss win. I went with the gambler’s fallacy that the Italians could not continue to be so bad but they managed to be just that- even Donnarumma.
After last night’s results- we have a very tight leaderboard with 3 joint leaders:-
1= 18 Yard Man, Jobo Baldie & Borgo67- 35 pts
4- Hamiltontim- 33.5 pts
5= MWD1967 & hairlikespaghetti- 33 pts
7= One Malloy, ACGR, jmccormick & Drew67- 31 pts
A full update will be made when the Round of 16 finishes on Tuesday after the final match between Austria & Turkey.
I see they’ve abandoned the search in Tenerife for the young lad, Jay Slater
If you think the Corp Tax Celtic pays and will pays goes to public services youre being extremely naive, the deficit is huge, shut the loopholes for the multi millionaires in this country with no wriggle room for them,The Tory party and the Lords would empty, they’re there to keep themselves rich and maintain the tax benefits they enjoy and for their backers, get everybody to pay a fair share of taxation to provide the best public services we can afford, have the convesation with the voting public of what services their tax will provide, make sure these services deliver for the public who fund them, if the public want something different cost it tell them how it will be funded including taxation. Locally a small snippet of Holyrood, nearly 400m for ferries that aren’t in service, yet no accountability, 100m so far on malicious prosecutions associated with the takeover of RFC, no accountability , Multiple Police issues Health Service and Education issues, our tax revenues are being burned in 1 million pound notes.
as long as celtic plc are paying it i am fine with it.
Expect transfer activity to ramp up from tomorrow onwards.
AI primed and ready for the call.
And to join up the NHS with the Care sector is doomed to fail, that will be a tragedy for the public reliant on these services.

____
Incredible. 21 year old, with not a lot of game time. 44 for Newcastle, since 2021 and 21 on loan at Bristol 2022. Played at various ages for Scotland. A lot of money for potential. What price for our Matt🤔 Looking forward to the Euro matches today, especially Spain. Hopefully we’ll see some positive incoming (as well as outgoing) Celtic news this week

“Project Biden putting country before self”
Which country – Israrl or Ukraine?
Some comedians on here
As Private Fraser would say, ah tell ye, bureaucrats are taking over the world, contributing hee haw.
VAR, Eurozone, the list is endless.
I did vote to join the Common Market back in the day, just wanting that, a common market and tariff free purchase of good between members. now we have a behemoth of people ding the square root of fuck all, and being very well paid into the bargain.
Another thing bugging me is the appointment of police and crime commissioners , WTF is that all about

Go-Journalism, politics and general online debate have been dumbed down in a generation.
AT-But disgusting racism is clear on here
GO-One and done til tok videos, 280 characters (used to be 140, so that’s progreas) are rhe extent of many opinions.
AT- on Tiktok you read and see all forms of racism and dehumanization
GO-Words and phrases have replaced informed decisions- woke, far right, far left, refugees, racist, diversity, offensive.
AT- RACISM has not changed a bit GO
GO- It’s all very confusing and feels a little simplistic.
AT-its not confusing at all GO,You know racism is? So does every poster reading this,
except the simple one using skin pigment to dehumanize at 7.33am
Go-Can only hope my opinions don’t offend!
AT- Dont worry about differing opinions, its what makes us rich in intellect, enquiring of everything, learning and getting a little better
If you want to see unquestioning loyalty and its results look along the clyde.
If you want to see how refugees get a little better, walk up the Celtic way.
Celtic a club open to all.

SFTB – Didn’t realise you were ex St MM’s. Some great players came out of that Parish and school – did the Gray’s live Cavin Drive as did Ray Houghton, albeit he was a bit later. We stayed in Spittal but went to St Barts for mass, St Mark’s and Trinity for school. Played for a few years for St Barts Boys Guild, 1981 – 1983ish Mick Cannie ran it. My older brother ran the older age group with the likes of Matt Hughes, Rab Ferguson Tommy Gaughan – great days
Bada Bing- the transfer fees and club collusion on transfers are driving a coach and horses through any attempt to enforce FFP in the EPL. It’s a busted flush…..
rocco vata next to go.
cheerio, best of luck
i aint subscibing to the collusion theory.
inflated over valued transfer fees in england have been happenin for ever

I was playing for St. Bartholomew’s Guild in the late 60’s and it was our Parish church. I did not know Ray Houghton but he lived in the same close as Arthur Graham of Aberdeen, whose wee brother I did know. Spittal is, as you know across the boundary wall, and in S. Lanarkshire. I have family living there. As a Teenager, I had a job delivering groceries from JK Galbraith & the Co-op to families in Spittal.
Most of the really talented footballers did not make it for the usual reasons. I remember speaking to Biden McGeady’s dad in Donegal where he talked about a few Castlemilk “legends” who “nearly made it” and he was, justifiably, dismissive, saying that drink & women did not stop George Best and many others from having a successful career in football.
We did get one boy into CP from Frank Gray’s team- a centre half , Frank Welsh, who was understudy to Billy McNeill, and a far better player than Roddy McDonald who got the gig. Unfortunately Frank had a groin injury that no one could diagnose or rehabilitate and so he only got a Treatment Table named after him and he was transferred to Hamilton, Killie, Thistle & Morton before an early injury enforced retirement. Frank Welsh was definitely good enough to play for Celtic, and did so 5 times at the tail end of our 9iar season.
my pal mcgeahie grew up in catlemilk, he used to rhyme off elen players who came from there.
england did not look a confident bunch there in the tunnel
them irish descendents lustily singing for the king.
SFTB – Spittal was a great place to grow up. Down the football parks, before they built on them. If we couldn’t agree sides, we played Celtic v Rangers fans and had a great time. Moved away from there as did my mum and dad but still in touch with many, Toffeetim of this parish from a while ago being one of them.
slovakia are still being held
