Copa America took a turn for the better for Celtic last night. Cameron Carter-Vickers’ second half appearance was not enough to prevent USA from losing to Panama. That result leaves both sides on three points going into the final group game. The USA face Uruguay (two wins from two) in their final game while Panama play Bolivia (two defeats from two).
The final group games take place on Tuesday, so Cameron could be back home to cast his vote on Thursday. Let’s hope.
Alistair Johnston’s Canada need a point against Chile on Sunday to progress to the quarter finals. Canada have the advantage as they got a better result against Peru but Chile are favourites to win. It would be good to see both defenders home soon.
Sead Haksabanovic is one of a procession of wingers who passed through Parkhead gates over the last decade without leaving much of an impression behind. At 25, he is still young enough to make a good career in the game, but as with all players, he needs a run of games. Hopefully he’ll get that at Malmo.

Yes .., I remember that, yet Barry Fry could tell a story 😂
I do believe we could have signed him to be honest….but as some bloke said.. if you tell a big lie and you tell it often enough .. it will be believed !! we guy with a moustache ?
Every nation has elements of jingoism and racism. For me it’s the media in England who fan the flames and there are plenty of receptors.
ERATIC @ 9:23 PM,
Exactly, folk will believe a big lie much sooner than a little lie…
Perception is everything…

I think i got the better deal. Its all about optimising what you have.
I hope Celtic optimise what they have . We dont need to be like Real Madrid to please fans.
Play fast, attacking and entertaining football and look to inprove the match day experience .
Simple, but very effective.

“….a few prayers will be offered up for an England defeat.
I don`t know if the author of the above was joking but, for me, it does sum up the ridiculous notion of the idea of the existence of a God who actually `listens` to the requests of humans. Must be tricky for him if England fans are asking for a victory for their team :-))
If you think I go to church and pray for an England loss you could not be further from the truth but if you think I believe in the power of prayer, then you better believe I do. You go your wa and I’ll ill go mine.

Nottingham Forest signing a Newcastle squad player Eliot Anderson, for £35 million
———-
Yip.
What are the odds Newcastle sign a Forest player this week in an “unrelated deal”?
Need to take care when cooking the books.
If you’re not careful and the heat is turned up too much you could end up with your pants on fire.
In other news, Barry Fry said …..
Good morning all from a wet, wet, wet Garngad.
This weather would depress you.
Anyway, come on Celtic get some signings in or are we waiting to see how much dead wood we can offload, no matter what I have complete faith in the manager.
But for him to be able to compete at the highest level he needs some quality new recruits in and settled, in fact I would love our business to be done as early as possible but I do realise that sometimes it takes longer.
Which brings me onto the BOARD, have there been no more changes, just still jobs for the boys???
Mmmmmmmm
D. :)
Good morning all from Govanhill. Blackpool this week, oh I do like to be beside the seaside. 😁
Good morning from an overcast North Staffs.

Albian Ajeti: Celtic sign West Ham forward in a permanent £5m deal
Thursday 13 August 2020 18:52, UK
Celtic have completed the permanent signing of West Ham forward Albian Ajeti for a fee of around £5m
The Parkhead side confirmed the signing of the Switzerland international after he agreed terms on a four-year deal with the Scottish champions.
Ajeti previously flew into Glasgow to complete a medical, with Celtic changing the deal from an initial loan move with an option to buy to a permanent transfer.
Sky Sports News understands the striker is taking a significant pay cut from his £60,000-a-week wage at West Ham.
It is also understood a personal intervention by boss Neil Lennon convinced Ajeti to choose Celtic, after a host of Premier League and European clubs were also interested.
“We are delighted to bring Albian to Celtic,” Lennon told the club’s website. “He is a tremendous player, an international with real quality and I know he is really determined to do all he can to bring more success to our supporters.
“I have admired him for long time as he is a really intelligent footballer, well balanced and a really good finisher. We are so pleased to make him a Celtic player and we hope he has a long and prosperous career with us.”

Ajeti was a target for Championship side Brentford last summer but wanted to move to the Premier League from Basel, where he had emerged as one of the Swiss league’s best strikers.
He had scored 37 goals for Basel but failed to register for the Hammers last season as he struggled for minutes under both Manuel Pellegrini and David Moyes, making a total of 12 appearances.

Ivan Toney completes Brentford move from Peterborough
Striker will officially join club on Tuesday; signed for an initial fee in the region of £5m
By Adam Goodwin
Monday 31 August 2020 11:42, UK
Ivan Toney has joined Brentford from Peterborough on a five-year deal for an initial fee of £5m.
The striker will officially join the club on Tuesday and the deal could rise to a maxiumn of £10m with add-ons.
Brentford head coach Thomas Frank said: “I’d like to welcome Ivan to the club. We are adding a hungry, ambitious, hard-working striker to the group here.
“He fits what I want in a striker; he is a goalscorer, he gets into good positions in the box, he is good playing on the last line, and will contribute to our link-up play.”
Toney had been linked with a host of clubs during the transfer window, including Championship side Nottingham Forest and Scottish Premiership champions Celtic.
The 24-year-old, who finished as League One’s top scorer last season with 24 goals in 32 games, told Sky Sports News last month although he remains focused on Peterborough, he feels it is time for a new challenge.
Toney will train with his new team-mates ahead of signing for last season’s Championship play-off finalists on Tuesday.
Brentford’s deal to sign Toney could allow Ollie Watkins to move to the Premier League with Aston Villa, Sheffield United and Fulham among several clubs interested in the striker.
Villa’s hierarchy are keen to tie up a deal soon but are becoming increasingly frustrated at the lack of progress in talks.
They want to sign Watkins as soon as possible, so he can acquaint himself with his new team-mates in pre-season, before the Premier League starts on September 12.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Both accounts come from Sky Sports. Note Ajeti (Tube) was £5 million and Toney was an initial £5 million rising to a possible £10 million. Also, Toney was to take the place of Ollie Watkins.
Interesting facts.

If you do try ” SHENNIGANS”, let us know what you think ?
Scullybhoy @ 9.23
Great shot of Parkhead, looking to the east the ‘new’ roof Jungle to the left on Janefield St, Helenvale St, high Flats and on the right London Rd school. The east terracing formerly known as ‘the Rangers end’ was built after we won the big cup and helps date the shot to 67/68 onwards. On the horizon you can make out the cooling towers of steel works the and two high rise flats in Carmyle/Cambuslang
Thanks for the memory

Albian Ajeti: Celtic sign West Ham forward in a permanent £5m deal

Cheers SB.
The mental and psychological sides of the game must be more huger than I can imagine.
This guy was on fire when he was 22.
He’s barely 27 and he’s pretty much washed up.
Tragic.
When he scored that late winner at Dundee United then an absolute peach against Livingston I hoped we had a player.
How wrong was I.
PS – had a quick look back at the Dundee United game.
Our roster that day was impressive.
Taylor, Brown, McGregor, Julienne, Ajer, Bitton, Frimpong, Édouard, Christie, Forrest, Ntcham and Elyounoussi all featured.
Our collective collapse that season … after a strong enough summer transfer window … is still bewildering to this day.
