  1. we lost our shape when we lost both ON and SB ,we seemed to lose our composure without them and where all over the park shape wise.

Same here. Was hoping for another goal in the 2nd half.

That 2nd half performance is what worries me about the upcoming Ibrox tie. Our shape was all over the place and tactics none existent. Long balls to Eddy and zero ball retention. It was reminiscent of the cup final and the first 60 mins of the game at CP.

We play some great football at times, but Neil needs to learn how to set up a team, have a shape and execute a game plan.

O.N. lost possession for the first goal and did so again later without unfortunate result.

Lennie subbed him soon after .

We were all over the shop with them on the park as well

  5. THE HANDS CANT HIT WHAT THE EYES CANT SEE

My comment regarding “perspective” is the fact we know FC København are average and many on here seem disappointed with the second-half performance if not so much the final score.

With Braga, I’ve been hearing the pundits on BT calling them a “seriously good side”. They aren’t….although I’d concede they’re probably better than FC København.

  6. It was a great comeback for them and the boy Hagi looks decent. They carried luck at both ends and it looked like Braga went to sleep at 0-2. Braga are highly likely to beat them over there comfortably in better conditions and on a better pitch. Its good for our coefficient, the only concern would be that it could spark them into life somewhat. My guess is not as their issues are deeper routed. Regardless, I’m not worried, the Portuguese don’t travel well at the best of times and the conditions overall were shocking.

  7. I was worried at HT because at this level, you have to take your chances. It’s knock out stage, there’s no bad teams. Copenhagen at home were always going to show more in that second half.

Having just seen Lenny’s after match interview, there’s no doubt he’s disappointed. The importance of converting can not be underestimated. That said, we’ve secured a score draw away from home, at least we didn’t do a Braga. Onwards to Sunday, three points, Celtic.

  8. Much being made of the state of the pitch at the Hunderdome. I have just checked.

During two named storms plus usual crap weather they have now played 7 games on it since 17th January. …

I vaguely remember earlier this season that they have paid off ground staff and rely on volunteer Huns with pitchforks to look after the pitch. Keep up the good work boys.

Meanwhile whilst we have been on our travels Celtic Park is looking like a billiard table only used twice in the same period.

    The Onlooker

  9. I think Braga should win the second leg easily enough, by far the better side who struggled in the last 20 mins due to the pitch cutting up

The Huns will be without Morelos as well

  10. I thought Copenhagen were a very average side tonight, whether that be the winter break or not, who knows. Brown looked as if he was carrying an injury from the start of the second half and Copenhagen were able to ping balls to an area in front of our back four who, lacking protection, got deeper and deeper, allowing Copenhagen to throw balls into our box, much like Aberdeen at the weekend. Hate to say it but young Frimpong is nowhere experienced enough to be playing at this level, thought he was very poor tonight. In saying that I fully expect us to go through.

  11. Look it’s Football, games are decided on very tight margin. How can the wicked deflection off Hagi’s free kick make the Huns a better team or Braga worse. Yet it made all the difference in the World tonight.

Saw a stat about halfway through 2nd half that we were on 15 attempts against their 3.

Eddie had 2 great chances before he scored, deflection of Jonny’s cross 2nd half produced a great save from their Keeper. CalMac was through but instead of playing in Eddie blasted over the bar.

We created plenty but only converted one,

Playing at home just like the Huns did to Braga, they threw everything at us and yes they rattled us.

I still expect Celtic & Braga to be in the last 16.

  12. Good evening bhoys.

Wow 1-1 away from home in Europe I will take that.

We could have won it but hey ho. I fancy we will do what’s needed at paradise next week.

We need to stop fannying about in and around our own 18 yard box though.

If someone said before kick off 1-1 I would have taken it, so I am a happy clapper.

Ps how lucky are Sevco should have been about 8-5 to Braga, but 2 away goals and Braga must fancy there chances at home against thems.

  13. lets all do the huddle on

we should have won the game out the park in the first half

but struggled like hell from the start of the 2nd

but takin ntcham off just cos he contributed to us losing the goal?

sorry, but that was just a rash move by nfl

it took us back to the wee boy midfield syndrome that was the reason why he started playing ntcham again in the first place after the huns game at the end of last year

and we have been top notch since

  14. Thought N’tcham started well but went off the boil and lost or misplaced a few balls, I think Lenny was right to sub him but unfortunately Elyounoussi is currently a long way off his early season form.

I said before game I was worried about Frimpong at left full at this level.

It was a worry tonight and if Lenny is going 4 at the back next week, and we have no Elhamed, I hope he goes Ajer right back with Jozo & Julien in the centre.

If he goes 3 at the back then there could be a place for Frimpong in a more forward role.

I hope we get Elhamed back soon, 45 minutes against Killie & play him next Thursday.

  15. lets all do the huddle on

Thought N’tcham started well but went off the boil and lost or misplaced a few balls,

aye but compared to any of the others?

it made a difference when ntcham went off

would it have made a difference if any of the others had went off?

    not so sure

  16. A lot to be pleased about tonight’s performance, some real good play, in Edouard we have a player destined for the top. When this team is at it and concentrated we will cause most teams problems.

What worries me with this team is a habit of easing off going down the gears, we go in front then let our passing go, our intensity drop, we want to go back into a comfort zone. We allow even average teams hope, its as if they want to preserve energy, but on almost every occasion the opposite happens, we have to work harder, we pick up injuries and bookings, we look like we’re barely hanging on.

So far this season we have seen it at Partick, we were scintillating first half St Johnstone, then dire second half. Started well against Motherwell, then were hanging on until half time before running riot eventually. Again started well against Aberdeen then allowed them to dictate before a late sucker punch. Then again today, excellent first half, players at it from the off, then drop our levels second.

It’s happening too often, seems like a mentality issue, hopefully we’ll see first half performance on Sunday, league is everything this season, plenty of work still to be done, if we keep dropping our performance levels so drastically we’ll soon get punished.

  17. Yes, like many others on here I am disappointed we didn’t capitalise on a great first half performance.

However it is a measure of how far we are restoring our European pride and reputation when we are disappointed with a Euro away draw.

HH to all, the journey continues.

  18. Anyone know what the outcome of our disciplinary hearing was today?

Strange that the ftSFA haven’t published it on their website.

I’m sure the smsm will be all over it in the morning, bringing the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

  19. That was a game we should have won out the park . In the second half our midfield were non existant , and not for the first time either . That’s the worst game I’ve seen from Ryan Christie , Olivier natcham was way off tonight as well , a lot of there attack came down our left side , and not blaming him ,as he is not a left back But wee Johnny hadn’t the best of nights , I hope Greg is fit for next week . But just my observations , a score draw away from home will do just fine , a bit more care in our passing and a bit more fight in midfield and we will do fine . HH

  20. Hard to say, Brooney obviously had to come off as well, not sure how long he was playing with a knock,

Certainly as the game progressed we were swamped.

I thought at the time Lenny was right to sub N’tcham & bring on Elyounoussi but as I said Elyounoussi just did OK and wasn’t the impact sub I had hoped for & then the loss of Brooney compounded the problems.

apart from having a great game Julien made a poor pass to ON prior to their goal.

    ——-

The pass reached its target. You can argue it was the wrong choice but it wasn’t a bad pass. Ntcham fluffed it trying to be too fancy and Hayes needed to tuck in when he realised that possession was lost.

  22. I actually got excited when Nctham received Juliens pass, he had a 3 yard simple pass to McGregor, then we were away and breaking on them big time. Even in a poor second half we looked like we could cut them open on the break. This Celtic team look to quick for Copenhagen, we’ll certainly create chances, take at least 2 and we’ll progress, no worries.

Ntcham fluffed it trying to be too fancy….

    ====================================================

Exactly the way I saw it .

  24. For an away team we were quite open and expansive, often committing 5 players ahead of the ball to attack. It looked to me like we tried to blow them away but simply ran out of steam towards the end. We were too deep for the final 30 and the gap between the defensive and midfield lines to Eddy was too big. On too many occasions we made rash decisions on the ball (Christie ffs) giving the ball away cheaply and not slowing the game down as required. Game management and tactics were poor.

To pick 3 for Jobo was easy because we had 3 outstanding players, Jullien, Forster and Edouard. Frimpong and Christie looked off the pace and were naive or lacked game intelligence. Hayes does his best but has obvious limitations. Ajer was poor for me as was Ntcham. Forrest just about gets a pass as did Calum. Brown looked leggy and has done for a few weeks now, he needs rest on Sunday 100%. why he plays against the likes of Clyde i am truly baffled.

A final word on the boy Ndiaye. He gave our defenders are really tough night, he was physical and a threat throughout and finished superbly for the equaliser. On first viewing he would have been a lot more use than Klimala.

  25. I thought ON fluffed julienne’s imo poor pass as he was expecting and playing to get clattered and win a free kick

  26. also we do not like playing against teams that get in our face and our centre backs detest playing against physical strikers .

  27. The hands cant hit what the eyes cant see on

I thought Jullien was immense tonight. Won a lot in the air, on the ground and was generally very solid. Ajer on the other hand was a mixed bag of well timed tackles combined with some unsuccessful lunges and slack passes.

It seems that we have three stalwarts in Forster, Jullien and Edouard. They all stand and up and are counted in the big games.

I thought JF and McGregor had a great first half but faded badly in the 2nd.

Hoping to see a freshened up team for the weekend. Between injuries and the return leg next week, we need to utilise the squad.

  28. CaddingtonCommon on

Christie will come good quickly. He has too much class not to.

Baffled at the result. You could have put your mortgage on a comfortable victory by half time.

Still, rather be at home next week than in Lisbon.

    Hail Hail

  29. We weren’t actually that good in the first half but could, and should, have been out of sight.

Second half, we opted for letting them own the midfield and defending the 6 yard line as soon as they crossed into our half.

Very bizarre and quite shitey 45 mins. Broonie’s injury was that half in microcosm.
