Covering Emilio, Ledley returns

507

Delighted Joe Ledley got on the score sheet twice yesterday.  As well as missing the influence of Wanyama, and Scott Brown on Champions League duty, Joe’s absence through injury has been felt.  He has been back a few weeks now but Neil Lennon has used him sparingly, putting a lot of responsibility on the shoulders of Beram Kayal and Charlie Mulgrew.  For me, Joe’s composure and running deserves place in the team.

Ross County have dropped like a stone recently, even when you consider their abandoned matches, but they successfully pressed high up the field for long periods of the game.  When Celtic do this in Europe we are always concerned about opposing teams passing through us with speed.  It was a bit concerning that we could not do the same to County.

The most pleasing aspect of the game was the performance of Emilio Izaguirre.  Neil Lennon went on record in the summer to say he needed cover for left back, which is still the case, but at the time ‘cover’ was interpreted in places for an admission that Emilio’s form was not what it once was.

We are incredibly strong at right back, with internationals Adam Matthews and Mikel Lustig vying for the position, while Nigeria’s right back, Efe Ambrose, occupies a different position at Celtic, but Emilio has no obvious left-footed cover.

Following the loss of St John Doyle, George Ryan, Lennybhoy sent £1534.30 on your behalf to the Mini St John Doyle Fund, now officially launched as Sean’s Trust.  George’s wife, Linda, responded with this message:

“George’s fantastic friends at Celtic Quick News have this evening donated £1,534.30 into the account for our charity Sean’s Trust. This money has been raised since George’s death on 5 October. Also they paid for 4 seats at Celtic Park for the family to attend the Ajax game, and sent beautiful floral tributes.

“Most of the supporters on CQN had never met George in person. Paul Brennan from CQN visited me after George’s death and he said ‘It takes a lifetime to make a Celtic Man like George’ What a beautiful tribute. We are grateful for the immense effort you have all made in memory of George. We will never forget you x.”

There are never any real compensations on occasions of such loss, but your efforts connected with, and supported, a family, at a time when that was as much as anyone could do for them.

Thank you to everyone who participated, especially Lennybhoy, for picking up the ball.

Ki was a good player to have in your side if you were ahead.Kept possession well.Never a player to get involved in a tough match or to open up a defence.Thought we did well to get the 6m fee and to be honest, in my opinion,Swansea and Sunderland are about his level.

Won’t forget him for his screamer in the final against Motherwell.

The board may be Celtic supporters but their first priority will be to run the club from a sound business perspective.

It should be remembered that they are only temporary custodians of our club. We ( God willing ) will still be here when they are gone. True supporters are for ever, warts and all.

Picture a potential scenario; Our club begins to implode over the dead team, the dead team goes into administration, yet another entity emerges and despite the points deduction proceeds to climb the leagues debt free.

I would be happy to see Adam pushed forward one position with lustig behind him.

Gives us two guys who can go up the wing and get balls into the box and either player can give cover when the other pushes forward.Gives us a more solid midfield imo.

    Nice quote.

I also expected at the AGM, each resolution will be debated then voted on. It wont be like that. Each resolution will be moved then there will be a show of hands. After all 12 resolutions have been moved there will be a poll. THEN there will be questions and answers.

We need to be given the documentation that proves the license given by the SFA in 2011/12 was done so correctly and to the rules. Celtic clearly had an issue, as they asked UEFA to look into it. If the proof is a letter to UEFA from the SFA, it wont satisfy me. Nor should it satisfy Celtic. The documents released by the like of CF wont be accepted as they cannot be used legally. At least that is my understanding.

I have been told the press will only be there at the start of the AGM and will have to leave before the AGM beings proper. I’m sure there will be people reporting to the outside from the meeting though and I believe it will be live on Celtic tv.

Celtic do say resolution 12 is unnecessary. We need to know why.

“Goldstar I fear the board will try and reduce it to a technical argument and will not allow further debate. If that is the case then we have our answer and we will have to decide where as as a support go from here.”

Surely the board understand our desire for equality and justice wont stop on Friday just because the board wish us to drop it. They must also be aware of how their ‘customers’ are going to react to their decisions.

That is my belief. I know they would have stood on our windpipe. I don’t understand why we have been on our knees desperately giving them mouth-to-mouth. I think we would make more money without ‘them’ and to help the Newco is just immoral, prostitution.

    NegAnon2 @ 12:24

Bobby Murdoch the real battle is the one we need to fight against the corruption. We have debated about what celtic’s silence has meant. Well Friday will tell us all. Other supporters – Aberdeen and Dundee utd have rightly challenged our silence.

For all the sectarianism we and our forefathers have experienced I cannot even begin to describe the betrayal we will have been visited upon us if our custodians let it slide.

They can stick their old firm cabal where the sun don’t shine.”

A common feeling. I hope the board are aware of that. Remember these are posts on CQN. A site popularly thought of in the Celtic community as the unofficial Celtic View, used by the least militant and most faithful fans.

11:57 on 10 November, 2013Gold Star 10The press coverage of Fridays resolution will be along the following lines.“Celtic say that the SFA treated Rangers fairly”.

I fear you are right, and i mean no disrespect to Canamalar ,M23 and others who have worked wonders to even give us a voice on these matters.Back of the bus? We are not even on the bus at all.”

When collecting signatures for the requisition. Early in the day I spoke to an older gentleman who said to me, “Listen son. Celtic have always been cheated. It’s not going to change. Ever.” I replied, “Do we have to always act like the battered wife?”. I’d rather stand up against it, rather than just give in and accept it. He said I was right but doubted enough people would join me because they know the way it is and don’t want to find out that Celtic are happy with the ways things are because they make a lot of money from it being like that.

I felt so sad that Celtic has obviously been a huge part of this guy life and he had being going to the games for many decades, believing he was being conned but not really wanting that to be confirmed. I don’t want to be that man in 40 years.

We will discover it was the SFA would told UEFA. There will be a Scottish man at UEFA involved. Maybe with a past connection to RFC.

    skyisalandfill c’mon wee Oscar @ 13:17

    What other reason is there?

To say Scottish football cannot have a fair and equal sport or it would result in civil unrest is pish, pathetic, rubbish and not a good enough reason anyway.

To think the board are working on a plan with the government and police for a softly, softly let-down for the potential creators of civil unrest that includes another 2 or 3 admins is IMO nuts.

Now, the risk of losing ST holder due to lack of competition and hatred. That is a serious concern ans IMO the get-out-of-jail-free card for the Southside.

I hope the board are also aware a significant volume of the support wont accept that. It’s time for them to decide. A new era or old firm ii.

“Resolution 12 of course has little chance of success. But its an opportunity for the internet bampots to have a voice. After all we though we bought the club didn’t we? It would be nice if celtic explained to their fans/shareholders why they are silent. They appear to be complicit. If that’s deemed to be board bashing then im a board basher, but IMO its trying to ask a question that needs to be asked.

Sevco will likely dump even more debt when they go into administration again. They wont go into liquidation though. They will be virtually debt free for the second time in three years and a mediocre cash injection will enable them to be simply second best in a canter. If you object to this Speak now!

If you don’t object to this, then support our board and keep quiet at the back of the bus.”

Agree with others on the T-shirt idea, although as much as I also like the other idea of actually having a plane drop poppies over Ibrox, as depicted in the picture above…brill pcture, would poppies fall out a plane in the manner shown in the picture or rise and scatter in the wind due to there low mass and weight ? I would like to suggest putting thousands of small poppies into a giant poppy balloon type holder thingymijig, and as the plane flys over the piggery …it unloads its cargo[ giant balloon full of poppies] , the load drops from the sky, smashes into the middens frontage causing massive damge and proceeds to then bounce and rise all the way to Ibrox. finally opening and unloading its treasure all over Ibrox, all the while over the Ibrox PA system we belt out The Dambusters, followed by over 50 thousand Bears doing the Bouncy.
