Delighted Joe Ledley got on the score sheet twice yesterday. As well as missing the influence of Wanyama, and Scott Brown on Champions League duty, Joe’s absence through injury has been felt. He has been back a few weeks now but Neil Lennon has used him sparingly, putting a lot of responsibility on the shoulders of Beram Kayal and Charlie Mulgrew. For me, Joe’s composure and running deserves place in the team.
Ross County have dropped like a stone recently, even when you consider their abandoned matches, but they successfully pressed high up the field for long periods of the game. When Celtic do this in Europe we are always concerned about opposing teams passing through us with speed. It was a bit concerning that we could not do the same to County.
The most pleasing aspect of the game was the performance of Emilio Izaguirre. Neil Lennon went on record in the summer to say he needed cover for left back, which is still the case, but at the time ‘cover’ was interpreted in places for an admission that Emilio’s form was not what it once was.
We are incredibly strong at right back, with internationals Adam Matthews and Mikel Lustig vying for the position, while Nigeria’s right back, Efe Ambrose, occupies a different position at Celtic, but Emilio has no obvious left-footed cover.
Following the loss of St John Doyle, George Ryan, Lennybhoy sent £1534.30 on your behalf to the Mini St John Doyle Fund, now officially launched as Sean’s Trust. George’s wife, Linda, responded with this message:
“George’s fantastic friends at Celtic Quick News have this evening donated £1,534.30 into the account for our charity Sean’s Trust. This money has been raised since George’s death on 5 October. Also they paid for 4 seats at Celtic Park for the family to attend the Ajax game, and sent beautiful floral tributes.
“Most of the supporters on CQN had never met George in person. Paul Brennan from CQN visited me after George’s death and he said ‘It takes a lifetime to make a Celtic Man like George’ What a beautiful tribute. We are grateful for the immense effort you have all made in memory of George. We will never forget you x.”
There are never any real compensations on occasions of such loss, but your efforts connected with, and supported, a family, at a time when that was as much as anyone could do for them.
Thank you to everyone who participated, especially Lennybhoy, for picking up the ball.

That’ll be the same folk hassling Broonie for his lack of dignity yesterday
I don’t understand why I need to pretend there’s no corruption going on….is it just because the Celtic board say so?
Imo not supporting your own fans, is a sure way to reduce crowds.
If supporters concerns are not addressed, the only way to send a message to the board, is to withhold the matchday funds.
Sadly, this is where its heading.
Its not wise to bite the hand that feeds you.
And BTW, PL, you aren’t Celtic…we are:)

Ive just got myself found out. When i was a big amateur cart horse the sideways pass was the main (only) tool in the bag. Probably why i like guys like Ki. Don’t think it can be argued that he has ‘outstanding’ attributes. Pace, powerful shot,

I agree mate.
Ki was a class footballer.
His performance against the old club during the 2-2 cup game @ the dome of debt was sublime.
Over 70% possession with only ten players on the pitch.
One of my favourite Celtic games ever.

Where did our Board actually state there was no corruption going on, please,,,?
In my opinion looking at Scottish football cheating is still going on last season How many penalties did the Rangers get ? How many players playing against them were ordered off ? how many players did they sign and play as trialists when they were under a signing ban ?already this season how many penalties have they already had ? how many in and out of there boardroom ? During this time the whole of Scottish football has held its tongue and football has gone on as usual in two short seasons they will be back in the SPL and they will challenge Celtic do you think they wont cheat ? do they know any other way ? The MSM and the Scottish football top brass cant wait to see them return to the top table and put timmy back in his place why does anyone believe in change for the good after what we have witnessed over the last 3 years the old saying says fool me once shame on, you fool me twice shame on me.If you continue to follow the hoops it will game on under there rules.H.H.

‘James McClean was not dropped for refusing to wear a poppy’ – Owen Coyle
Wigan manager Owen Coyle says he was “embarrassed” to be asked in this “day and age”

Republic of Ireland’s James McClean
10 NOVEMBER 2013
WIGAN manager Owen Coyle has denied that James McClean was left out of his team’s Championship meeting with Yeovil today because of his stance on wearing a poppy.
WIGAN manager Owen Coyle has denied that James McClean was left out of his team’s Championship meeting with Yeovil yesterday because of his stance on wearing a poppy.
The Derry man caused controversy as a Sunderland player 12 months ago when he refused to wear the flower on his shirt to commemorate Remembrance Day, and he was adamant afterwards that he would never do so because of his upbringing in the Creggan area of the city.
“They have their beliefs and I have mine. I don’t regret it and come next year I’m going to do the same thing,” he said.
Therefore, when the 24-year-old was not involved in his new club’s Championship outing, there was speculation that his reluctance to wear the poppy was the reason for his absence.
However, Coyle, a former Irish international, hit out at the rumours after his side’s 1-0 success, insisting that the winger was sidelined with an injury. “James McClean wasn’t rested, he has a dead leg,” said Coyle. “I’m embarrassed to have been asked that question in this day and age.”
McClean’s position 12 months ago attracted furious comments on Twitter from irate fans of Sunderland and other clubs and there was more of the same ahead of the Yeovil game.
Coyle added that the player’s personal viewpoint had to be respected. “I come from an Irish background myself and everyone is entitled to their own opinions,” he said.
Ireland striker Shane Long also attracted attention over the weekend after it was noted that he wore a shirt without a poppy in West Brom’s lively draw with Chelsea, but that is because he changed jerseys at half time.

The very fact, that we compete in a corrupt league, says it all.
If like you say, they were aware of any corruption…imo that makes it worse.
I say call the Sfa on their long established practices, and refuse to take part in their poison league.
No Corruption
HH
The Huns have broke every rule in the book …..even when they broke the big rule and went bust …..the establishment tried to keep them in the SPL
They continue to get preferential treatment from the MIB …..the SFA …etc
Yet our custodians are eager for a Hun team in the SPL ….
Why???… Money ….great financial acumen at CFC …no soul ..none !!!!
67 heaven
And where was their condemnation and action ??
The MSM must be pig flipping sick at missing a chance to stick the annual knife in. http://www.rosscountyfootballclub.co.uk/news/club-statement-%282%29.aspx

Far from being offended, I thought it was incredible. If I was setting out to satirise the Huns poppy-lust, this is exactly how I would do it.
Poppies being dropped from planes etc. it’s all so cosmically stupid it becomes funny.
Then the irony of have a poppy bomb to smash up Celtic Park!
As Partridge might say, I nearly soiled myself. I may go back and check out the whole thread!
