CQN and Celtic Supporters Liaison

475

I’m having a preoccupied week, so Hot Smoked and vfr800a8 have kindly stepped forward with today’s article, and an initiative, which will hopefully establish a direct route for the blog to ask questions of the club.

This is from  Hot Smoked and vfr800a8, please support the initiative:

In 2004 Paul67 decided that something was needed to combat the distorted MSSM reporting on all things Celtic.  The result was the birth of CQN.

Like all good ideas, CQN has developed and now provides an outlet for discussions ranging from Independence to toasted cheese.  Nevertheless, the raison d`etre of the site remains the same i.e. as provision of a vehicle to inform on all matters Celtic from a less prejudiced view than that of the MSSM.  However, there are still issues that arise that could do with some direct input and clarification from Celtic.

With that in mind, we contacted John Paul Taylor, the Celtic Supporters Liaison Officer and after discussion he has agreed to host a weekly/fortnightly Q & A session at a set time on CQN.  He is also willing to do a Blog Q&A session on a regular basis if required; the frequency of the “regular basis” is yet to be defined so we will approach this flexibly.

If there are urgent issues that arise then we can approach John Paul to see if there is a possibility of a response prior to the scheduled meetings, though it is expected that this will only take place in exceptional circumstances.

Initially, to ensure that all areas of any given topic are covered, we would propose we tackle different sets of questions on separate weeks; for example:

Week 1 – Res 12 and “same club” issues

Week 2 – The stadium, fan experience and safety at other stadiums

Week 3 – Ticket allocation issues

Week 4 – Offensive Behaviour at Football Act

The questions and issues will be collated centrally on CQN and grouped to reflect the various views on the Blog.  We feel that this approach is unique to CQN and don’t think any other fan site has this opportunity so we must use it wisely.

It is envisaged that if those using CQN see this as being useful and beneficial that we start the meetings on Friday 18th November 2016, so we would finalise questions and issues by mid-day on tomorrow, 17th November to get them to John Paul.  Please send questions you would like to raise to competition@celticquicknews.co.uk and Liason in the subject line

So, let us know what you think and if the feedback is positive, we can get this off the ground!  If there are issues or questions you have on Res 12 and the same club myth please let us know by noon tomorrow by emailing competition@celticquicknews.co.uk

Thanks, Hot Smoked and vfr800a8.

In other news CQN is delighted to publish Stephen Murray’s new book Kenny of the Celtic today. It’s available now from cqnbookstore.com

Been there once. ACGR and his boy swapped tickets wi me and my Dad so they could “sit” wi The Green Brigade.

I needed oxygen,my Dad need climbing equipment and a stairlift! And we dared not celebrate the four goals to hard in case we took a tumble-it was a steep incline, and a long way down.

Not for me,mate. I’ll leave that to the thrill-seekers.

    Thanks very much mate.

  3. So just to confirm?

The extent of the “statement” issued by the board was to say they will talk to the shareholders tomorrow?

    Seriously – that was it?

of course after tomorrow the club will say nothing except to avoid saying anything and stringing us all along.

So there you have it – your answer.

    Happy everyone?

Youd think that the PLC board would review how they engage with the support and all of their concerns, on the outside it never ceases to amaze how much procrastination the PLC do, its little wonder they are being viewed as being on board with the whole thing and only adds to the dithery old man persona they’re keen to adopt.

It may come back to bite them.

As ever I have to defer the to the Res 12 guys. They’ve driven the whole process (the argument as to whether it should have been the club is long past and separate), when they’re unhappy I’ll be unhappy. As it is, with no direct input, I don’t really feel qualified to comment beyond that.

    From the AGM

“A shareholder congratulates the board for going out and getting a top quality manager in Brendan Rodgers.

Chairman Ian Bankier jokes about a commitment to deliver 10-in-row.

Rodgers admits taking himself out of the Premier League was a big decision, but he says his job at Celtic is to become the architect of the club moving forward, he wants that to continue for many years to come.

Bankier asks Rodgers how Celtic compares to big clubs in England?

Rodgers wryly replies “the money’s different” – the crowd enjoyed that.”

And from the same article, have a look at the pic at 1153. They just can’t help themselves, but you have to laugh now at their self-parody.

  11. My friends in Celtic,

Many heartening things from the AGM.

Really good to hear that more money and resources will be invested into the Ladies team. More integration into the men’s set up can only be beneficial in the long term.

Incidentally and we are aware that statistics can be manipulated; Peter Lawwell got voted back on the board with a whopping 99.96% of the vote.

    Hail, Hail.

In my opinion the reason the PLC is reluctant to deal publicly with res 12 is that to them it’s crying over spilled milk i. e. It’s about money that’s gone. To address the issue going forward will interfere with their OF pension plan so it’s doubly worthless to them. For you and me it would bring about proper governance of Scottish football and the PLC are just not interested in that. No money in it.

Beatbhoy …. sorry, posted then jumped in the car, so just reading back now (no longer driving).

okay …. so, now, I am confused (“what do you mean ‘now’? some will ask) …

Canamalar’s post at 1:15 seems very positive …

but then I read TET’s post of 1:24 or Neganon’s post @ 1:34, and it seems ‘plus ca change’….

Can somebody please tell me if something actually happened, so I know whether I can get back to watching the bhoys?

Or will I have to wait til this meeting tomorrow? Will the results of that meeting be made available to the public?

  14. Them shareholders at the AGM this morning, what did they actually ask the board, and did any of them ask about the Res 12 matter, also the Hotel Cafe, and Museum,or did they just sit with there arms folded,

Just back from AGM. Relatively happy with Board’s recognition of the issues inherent in 2013 Res12 and continuing dialogue with main proponents to progress matters. Was going to ask specific commitment but matters still extant.

Re Cafe Almore the footprint at celtic Park to be developed and when proposed augmentation is presented am sure that Cafe Almore will be included.

The best entertainment was the droll lhad a la Rev IM Jolly with his witty repartee with Brendan and Peter Lawell. Onwards and upwards. HH

  19. A bit of a love in at the AGM with a good natured question time punctuated by a Chic Murray impersonator who in fairness was very funny.

After Bankiers disastrous performance last year, even he was a little more amiable.

Up close and personnel, Peter Lawell and Brendan Rodgers are mighty impressive, two guys at the top of their game.

We are in very good hands

  20. Canamalar it looks like OCD obsession on

    MIT,

Thursdays meeting is agreeing a new more formal format for cooperation, the Plc have all the info so they will be asked to familiarise themselves with the material to reduce revisits to already resolved questions prior to the following meeting. The information from UEFA’s response in June recently highlighted has now sparked interest, apparently there are serious issues that now need clarification, it’s no easy to get the corporate machine to trundle in the right direction but it’s only taken three years, keeping it on the right path and gathering momentum is the next challenge.

  21. Thanks to all who wished me Happy Birthday.

May your cheese roll never be soggy….

  23. Good and interesting development regarding the role of the SLO and also today the creation of a fans forum. There was a fans forum before and having attended a couple they were a waste of time (admitted by the club that they were a rabble also) so the terms of reference and set up will need to be spot on. Soup was nice though.

We have a good SLO. Feedback from a conference I attended last year showed that. This season has seen his perceived remit increase. He’s the lost and found, bus timetable, roadwork advisor, seat cleaner, toilet attendant and pie maker. His role is to facilitate between the fans and the club. His widening role has seen his primary role diluted. If that continues then he just becomes noise and lip service.

The club need to look carefully at the role and what they want from it. At the moment he is becoming a glorified signpost. And in no way is this a slight on JP. He is the best man for the job, with his Celtic experience.

We live in interesting times of fan engagement or lack of engagement. The old ways are dying but the new ways add instant problems of a vast quantity.

The fans forum is the start of a period of change regarding fan consultation and the way the club deals with the support. Root and branch change is a coming!
