CQN and Celtic Supporters Liaison

475

I’m having a preoccupied week, so Hot Smoked and vfr800a8 have kindly stepped forward with today’s article, and an initiative, which will hopefully establish a direct route for the blog to ask questions of the club.

This is from  Hot Smoked and vfr800a8, please support the initiative:

In 2004 Paul67 decided that something was needed to combat the distorted MSSM reporting on all things Celtic.  The result was the birth of CQN.

Like all good ideas, CQN has developed and now provides an outlet for discussions ranging from Independence to toasted cheese.  Nevertheless, the raison d`etre of the site remains the same i.e. as provision of a vehicle to inform on all matters Celtic from a less prejudiced view than that of the MSSM.  However, there are still issues that arise that could do with some direct input and clarification from Celtic.

With that in mind, we contacted John Paul Taylor, the Celtic Supporters Liaison Officer and after discussion he has agreed to host a weekly/fortnightly Q & A session at a set time on CQN.  He is also willing to do a Blog Q&A session on a regular basis if required; the frequency of the “regular basis” is yet to be defined so we will approach this flexibly.

If there are urgent issues that arise then we can approach John Paul to see if there is a possibility of a response prior to the scheduled meetings, though it is expected that this will only take place in exceptional circumstances.

Initially, to ensure that all areas of any given topic are covered, we would propose we tackle different sets of questions on separate weeks; for example:

Week 1 – Res 12 and “same club” issues

Week 2 – The stadium, fan experience and safety at other stadiums

Week 3 – Ticket allocation issues

Week 4 – Offensive Behaviour at Football Act

The questions and issues will be collated centrally on CQN and grouped to reflect the various views on the Blog.  We feel that this approach is unique to CQN and don’t think any other fan site has this opportunity so we must use it wisely.

It is envisaged that if those using CQN see this as being useful and beneficial that we start the meetings on Friday 18th November 2016, so we would finalise questions and issues by mid-day on tomorrow, 17th November to get them to John Paul.  Please send questions you would like to raise to competition@celticquicknews.co.uk and Liason in the subject line

So, let us know what you think and if the feedback is positive, we can get this off the ground!  If there are issues or questions you have on Res 12 and the same club myth please let us know by noon tomorrow by emailing competition@celticquicknews.co.uk

Thanks, Hot Smoked and vfr800a8.

In other news CQN is delighted to publish Stephen Murray’s new book Kenny of the Celtic today. It’s available now from cqnbookstore.com

ie. do you still feel as if you are banging your auldheid aff a brick waw? :@-))

Thanks … for taking the time to explain…. and, more generally, for all the work you have put in. you are a good celt (cant say higher than that).

I was hoping for a bit more …. so I could watch the game this weekend! …. but, no just yet, I guess ….. oh well, a little bit longer wont kill me! :)

  3. Moonbeams wet dream…

Hahahahaha ….just picturing BRTH jigging in his boots,Morrissey playing a tune ,and poor auldheid (with crash helmet) being rhythmically head banged against the CFC wall…….

    Awfy braw….

    Braw.

  4. That Glasgow evening rag today has printed the story that Celtic paid more than 3 times the valuation for the land deal that led to some ( I wonder who ?), getting themselves in a fuss accusing Celtic of receiving state aid and favours from Glasgow District Council ?

The land was valued at £200,000, Celtic paid over £650,00 ?

Glasgow District Council by providing those figures and other details have in effect put those who questioned the deal as being corrupt etc, to bed !

They stated that they had received multiple requests under the freedom of information act ( obviously in an attempt to discredit Celtic), from certain quartets , and had took the decision to release the FACTS !

So much for that, but also so much for those Huns who continually accuse we Tims of being ” obsessed” with their so called football club !

If they aren’t obsessed with Celtic, why submit multiple requests under the freedom of information act on an non existent issue, that had previously been investigated and determined by a European body, which found ” no wrongdoing here by Celtic and/or the Council”. !

This is yet another boot in the stanes for those of a Sevco persuasion !

  5. Fair play to Hot Smoked and VFR for successfully contacting John Paul in AGM week. I’d gathered from here that a number of folk have had difficulty contacting our SLO (maybe there’s too much in his workload)?

I am always suspicious of ventures like this and announcements on AGM day (like an employer trying to manipulate a Staff Engagement sore, by rushing through Development Plans at the last minute. Which were neglected throughout the year).

That said if the vetting of the questions is fair, the responses are acted upon and if this is the beginning of a worthwhile/ongoing dialogue for all concerned (the supporters, stakeholders and the Club), this is hopefully a positive development.IMO.

    …Not another attempt at..’.acheesement’ (sorry).

  6. I just had a peek at Hun media .

Two threads, one us titled ” Are we in danger of taking the skill out if football” !??????????

The other,” Celtic fans anger at their boards refusal to accept their res 12 lunancy” ????????

When I clicked on the res 12 thread, all it had was a mock up photo of some Celtic weans holding a wee banner saying ” Shoot the Board” !

This Sevco mob are really scrapping the bottom of the barrel with NO credible argument against res 12, to name but one issue.

There was a 3rd thread about how much of a rankers icon Gazza is ?

Forgetting of course that he is a convicted wife beater, and a convicted racist , this from a Sevco mob who take delight in minimising child abuse !

You couldn’t make these Chumps up !

  7. Rangers Tax-Case ‏@rangerstaxcase

@Barcabhoy1 Omissions and inaction of Rod McKenzie acting under SPL instruction can only be explained by him being asked to throw the game.

Braw has a question…..were the Celtic Board party to the SPL,s instructions to Mr McKenzie?

    Braw.

  8. TET

Simple answer. They were not paying attention. They are now and with TOG linking LNS and Res12 together it’s a whole new ball game.

  9. Imagine any of the ‘ahem’ zombies or ‘journalists’ logging on to CQN to find out what’s really going down re Resolution 12 at the AGM only to see the whole first page dedicated to toasted/roasted/scraped/Camembert/cheese! I have only read the first page so far, so don’t know if it continues, just read the first page and was P’ing MSL (is that ok, Mod?) anyway, ra gers are no too far behind.

  10. Meant to mention, their thread about ” are we in danger of taking skill out if football ?

Greig, Provan, Caldow, Shearer, McCoist, Lovernkrands, McCulloch, Butcher, Roberts, Garner, Hill, Kiernan, Waggers, Gregor Stevens, Jackson, McPherson, Johnstone, Johnston, Forrester, Ricksen, Moshni, Kyrgious, Hurlock, Hateley, Brown,Simpson, Sandy & Nicky Clark , Barry Fergushun, ALEX FERGUSHUN, McInnes, Jim Steele, Gregory Vignal, Porrini, Billy Urqhart, Falco, Williamson, Drinkell, Forrester, Halliday,Barton, MacKay, Wallace, Senderous, Billy King, etc, etc , etc !

No lads, how could you possibly be accused of ” takin the skill out if football”, when having such so derfully talented skillful players on your old and new books ?

Apologises to the numerous other ” skillful” Hun players not mentioned above !

  11. Mike in Toronto ….

Have you heard anything about our sponsor New Balance ? Reports of boycott and peeps burning their products in the street ! As a result of their board supporting Trumpton…?

    Braw.

  12. mike in toronto on

Billybear … “no too far behind” ?!

    1. the zombies cant afford the electricity to run their stove to make roasted/toasted/grilled cheese …. hell, they cant even afford the bread, let alone the cheese, to make i (which, I believe, is the real reason Sally left!)

    2. given that they are stuck somewhere in the 1920’s, they are already almost a century behind, and that gap will only increase as time leaves them further and further behind.

  13. Westhorn Park, the land that Celtic, isn’t around the Stadium, growing up if memory serves me,I’m sure it was close to Barrowfield training ground, and I think there was a bike track there as well,

  14. mike in toronto on

Neustadt …. I guess they thought that they would increase sales by sucking up to the Trumpets …. but I should stop there, before I say something that gets me banned from CQN!

I have to confess, when I used to run a lot, NB and Asics were my shoes of choice …. but it looks like it will be Asics going forward from now on!

Given that our Board dont want politics and football mixed, I wonder if they will have anything to say? :)

  17. Canamalar it looks like OCD obsession on

    MWD/MIT,

I am no more confident than any other time we’ve been thrown a bone near a key date, the difference this time is we will be changing the format of the relationship, rather than the informal unorganised approach preferred by our hosts at Celtic Park, it will become formal moving towards accountability and transparency. So for us this is by far an improvement in proceedings as the informal and confidentiality preferences are now a proven failure as a few knew would happen and we hoped would not by placing our trust in the Plc to do what is/was right.

MIT never let anyone put you off watching the team the corporate politics have nothing to do with the players on the park who are only there to entertain the supporters.

  18. Back in from AGM. Read back hoping to learn why there was so little about Res 12. Still mystified.

Thought the Chick Murray character was entertaining but at the wrong occasion.

Not too enthused by the apparent rapproachment between the Board, the Celtic Trust and their good friend at the Association. Will there be a vote among the wider support/shareholders as to who will be our representatives on the Forum?

  19. NEUSTADT-BRAW on 16TH NOVEMBER 2016 3:25 PM

Mike in Toronto ….Have you heard anything about our sponsor New Balance ? Reports of boycott and peeps burning their products in the street ! As a result of their board supporting Trumpton…?

*Just been reading this in the Toronto Star but seemingly the Obama administration turned a deaf ear to NB over the TPP trade agreement which was staunchly opposed by the trumpet (aye we’ll see where this goes now), NB are a Boston based company and the only major one that still makes sports apparel in the US, the TPP would potentially hinder its business and help competitors who operate overseas.

However, to further compound matters neo-nazis have declared NB the “Official Shoes of White People.” NB have since released a statement saying.

“New Balance does not tolerate bigotry or hate in any form,”

Careful now with your comments on the trumpet or you’ll have weehun1690 after you.

Mike, you’ll never get banned – you’re in the clique mind???

Sorry, I just thought we were lacking some clique references today…

  21. mike in toronto on

Canamalar …. Thanks again. On your last point, I know your advice comes from a good place, mate ….but, I must respectfully disagree.

As we are fond of pointing out to the zombies, you cant separate the club from the company. And what is sauce for the goose…. so, that has to apply to Celtic. I cant separate the team from the PLC they are not discrete entities; rather they are different aspects of the same entity … and if the PLC is, as I believe, doing the fans wrong, then I feel I have no option but to, at least, withhold my meager financial support of the Board. But I will still watch the bhoys when I dont have to pay …

and I will still wear the hoops … just not the ones from those (^&^&(*( ‘ers at New Balance! :)

  22. Be interested to know if Brendan’s comments at the agm seemed to reflect he was here for the long term or not? HH

Tontine … Trumpet is an expression that is not used in Canada or the US … but it is a great word… like bawbag ….. and just capitalizing it gives it a whole new level of meaning ….!

TimHorton ….of course, ….. everyday should include a healthy does of Chomsky, but we cant forget sex too …. see Derrida on Rousseau …. and,, from there ….Foucalt takes it to another level ….. what would life be without politics and sex?
