CQN and Celtic Supporters Liaison

475

I’m having a preoccupied week, so Hot Smoked and vfr800a8 have kindly stepped forward with today’s article, and an initiative, which will hopefully establish a direct route for the blog to ask questions of the club.

This is from  Hot Smoked and vfr800a8, please support the initiative:

In 2004 Paul67 decided that something was needed to combat the distorted MSSM reporting on all things Celtic.  The result was the birth of CQN.

Like all good ideas, CQN has developed and now provides an outlet for discussions ranging from Independence to toasted cheese.  Nevertheless, the raison d`etre of the site remains the same i.e. as provision of a vehicle to inform on all matters Celtic from a less prejudiced view than that of the MSSM.  However, there are still issues that arise that could do with some direct input and clarification from Celtic.

With that in mind, we contacted John Paul Taylor, the Celtic Supporters Liaison Officer and after discussion he has agreed to host a weekly/fortnightly Q & A session at a set time on CQN.  He is also willing to do a Blog Q&A session on a regular basis if required; the frequency of the “regular basis” is yet to be defined so we will approach this flexibly.

If there are urgent issues that arise then we can approach John Paul to see if there is a possibility of a response prior to the scheduled meetings, though it is expected that this will only take place in exceptional circumstances.

Initially, to ensure that all areas of any given topic are covered, we would propose we tackle different sets of questions on separate weeks; for example:

Week 1 – Res 12 and “same club” issues

Week 2 – The stadium, fan experience and safety at other stadiums

Week 3 – Ticket allocation issues

Week 4 – Offensive Behaviour at Football Act

The questions and issues will be collated centrally on CQN and grouped to reflect the various views on the Blog.  We feel that this approach is unique to CQN and don’t think any other fan site has this opportunity so we must use it wisely.

It is envisaged that if those using CQN see this as being useful and beneficial that we start the meetings on Friday 18th November 2016, so we would finalise questions and issues by mid-day on tomorrow, 17th November to get them to John Paul.  Please send questions you would like to raise to competition@celticquicknews.co.uk and Liason in the subject line

So, let us know what you think and if the feedback is positive, we can get this off the ground!  If there are issues or questions you have on Res 12 and the same club myth please let us know by noon tomorrow by emailing competition@celticquicknews.co.uk

Thanks, Hot Smoked and vfr800a8.

In other news CQN is delighted to publish Stephen Murray’s new book Kenny of the Celtic today. It’s available now from cqnbookstore.com

I appreciate how busy you’ve been, but were you able to find out anything re my request yesterday?

I envy your apparent ease of access to Michael Nicholson.

While you’re in contact with him I’d appreciate if you could ask him to reply to my letter copied out here (personal details redacted).

With reference to my shareholding, I wish to view the complete list of Celtic plc shareholders.

Could you please say if this is possible, and, if so, could you let me know the most convenient time(s) when I can have access to the register. My email address is xxxxx@xxxx.ie.

    Yours sincerely

  2. HAMILTONTIM,

Thanks for the clarification. I’m still unconvinced it will truly represent the Support. Hopefully, I’m wrong and it proves a valuable vehicle of communication between the Board and ourselves.

By the way, I would not be averse to the likes of your good self, Auldheid and Paul67 being among those representatives.

I watched the NFL when it first appeared on Channel 4.

    John Riggins era.

Just watched the Superbowl in recent years, but decided to take an interest from the start of the season this time.

Some magnificent matches so far, none better than the Steelers v the Cowboys last weekend, with 2 rookies for Dallas ripping the place up, and winning it with seconds left.

Patriots v Seahawks wasn’t too shabby either, going right to the final play.

I record them, right enough, due to the amount of breaks and general pissing about that there is!

  5. ParkheadcumSalford, you are probably right about Westhorn ,not having a bike track, maybe someone from the lilybank area could put it right, and if it is still there,

  6. TIMBHOY3,

A lot of my classmates were from the Glamis Road area. I think that’s why I vaguely remember playing in Westhorn Park. It was next door to Barrowfield.

We lived in Ravel Row and Sorbie Street. So, for a wean, Westhorn Park was a world away.

Beatbhoy@5:06 … my second CQN laugh for the day. thanks. Dont really have the time to watch the NFL …. not watching the bhoys on the weekends, so I turn on the the BPL for a few minutes ….and enjoying the CL games …. …. otherwise, have been enjoying TFC…. and even though I am not a big basketball fan, Dan from Milan’s better half is a huge Raptor fan, so we have been watching more of their games … can be fun.

Neustadt … I will admit to having started reading Foucalt’s Pendulum a few times … but I dont think I ever finished it! Frnakly, it confused the hell out of me! Not a fan of Eco’s novels, but I LOVE his essays…. Travels in Hyperreality and How to Travel with a Salmon are two books that I love … the sort of books I can go back to and read bits from again and again and still enjoy them.

  9. AGM day, so I popped onto CQN earlier, just to try to get a flavour of what was happening, and all I get is a toasted, roasted and grilled debate.

    Again!!!

    Jeez.

Got a bit of time now, so going to try to catch up.

A genuine question. What do you mean by truly representative of the Celtic support?

  14. HAMILTONTIM,

Well, there must be 50,000 odd season ticket holders/shareholders (and many thousands more who consider themselves supporters). How many Trust members are there? How many members has the Association? I would doubt there are many thousands. So, how can they be truly representative?

I’m sorry, but I don’t understand what you mean. I’ve no recollection of this but I’m happy to have my memory jolted if you can give me some details. My request to you was in the context that you have/had a direct line of communication with Michael Nicholson. I’d already posted here on the difficulty I was having getting a response to my letter of 29th October, and the problems when I phoned Celtic Park directly to find out .

I also wanted to find out the means of being able to speak directly to Michael Nicholson, or, at least, to get his email address so that I could write to him.

Any help would be appreciated. I’m out tonight, but catch up in the morning.

Ernie Lynch, At the risk of starting another debate, I am aware that in the context of corporate governance it doesn’t really matter if the four requisitioners who represented me and the other ninety-nine signatories of the original Resolution 12 which foundered in 2013 were shareholders. In the interests of transparency, openness, etc., I’d still like to know. What’s the harm????
