CQN TV on Celtic, Champions League and G.o.D.

466

This is our second CQN TV stint where Glasgow’s hottest model and TV presenter Nicole and social media masters’ student, Suzie, ask me about the season ahead Celtic and our Champions League chances.  I also get a great question about the Generation of Domination, which I’ve not written much about here recently, but you’d better believe it’s coming.

It was great fun talking about Our Celtic, hope you enjoy it.

Before you mention the GOD again check CQN Mag 2 I think. :)

  2. I think only Potro has won a slam event other than the big 3 in past 5 years. Shows you how good the 3 are. Murray was once a guest at CP to see us sneak a 3. 2 win vs Mowbray hibs. He was used to football in Spain and turned up casual. So not admitted to board room. We allowed him in our lounge. His face was a picture when he was allowed to go chat to hibs team in dressing room after game. Funny how such a thing excited him. Credit for cheering team his grandad played for.

  3. Tremendous effort by Andy Murray who should take heart that John McEnroe lost his first Wimbledon final.

I think he’s capable of winning it one day, if he continues to improve the way he has done already.

I still think there is a gap between the top 3 and the rest.

Hopefully Andy is about to bridge the gap.

  9. Ludicrous delay in closing the roof cost Andy.

The officials waited until rain started to fall on the court before covering it.

Inevitably, there would be patches where it would be damp and slippery.

This would disadvantage Andy’s more athletic style of play….and so it proved when he took a nasty tumble. Was never able to regain his composure, and never had the confidence to stretch himself running about, lest he took another tumble.

Cannot be having a Ginger Jock eclipsing Ol’ Fred Perry….

  10. Murray let us down big time ,we deserve better.

    ………………………………..where have I heard that

before? good on they huns forcing thems to

spend even more money they didn’t have.

    For your info and others.

If the SPL clubs do not want to be put in the position of voting I think they have a way out under FIFA statute 9 (2011)

Normally a new club starts at the bottom tier of whichever league accepts it and advances up via promotion.

The principles that govern promotion and relegation for all of football can be found in FIFA statutes and in the latest 2011 version these are at Article 9 {19 in the earlier version). The wording in both is the same and I post it below.

The key item is point 4 that says Members (the SFA) cannot delegate principles to Leagues so I believe the EGM itself contravenes FIFA rules. Thus the SFA should decide the placement based on the other 3 principles and they cannot place Sevco in SFL1 without losing all authority and credibilty as governors of the game.

The need for sporting merit is writ large in pnt 1

A club licence cannnot be issued under pnt2 and pnt 3 stops a company altering its legal form from being used as a device to gain promotion.

Others eg Phil Mac have pointed the FIFA rules butsince then the EGM was announced and is in contravention of point 4 and SFL chairmen can ask FIFA to confirm and watch the SFA thereafter.FIFA Articles 2011

Article 9 Principles of Promotion and Relegation.

1 A club’s entitlement to take part in a domestic league championship

shall depend principally on sporting merit. A club shall qualify for

a domestic league championship by remaining in a certain division

or by being promoted or relegated to another at the end of a season.

2 In addition to qualification on sporting merit, a club’s participation

in a domestic league championship may be subject to other criteria

within the scope of the licensing procedure, whereby the emphasis

is on sporting, infrastructural, administrative, legal and financial

considerations. Licensing decisions must be able to be examined

by the Member’s body of appeal.

3 Altering the legal form or company structure of a club to facilitate

its qualification on sporting merit and/or its receipt of a licence for

a domestic league championship, to the detriment of the integrity

of a sports competition, is prohibited. This includes, for example,

changing the headquarters, changing the name or transferring

stakeholdings between different clubs. Prohibitive decisions must be

able to be examined by the Member’s body of appeal.

4 Each Member is responsible for deciding national issues, which may

not be delegated to the Leagues. Each Confederation is responsible

for deciding issues involving more than one Association concerning

its own territory. FIFA is responsible for deciding international

issues involving more than one Confederation.

That is the crux of the matter now. If teams are being admitted or overpromoted on grounds of commerce then, despite the SPL’s decision last week, or even because of it, then Scottish football will have no credibility at all. I do not blame the SFL mind you, but what I would mind is any role being played by Jim Ballantyne, his “judgement” would surely be in contention. Time is running out, only a fix can see Sevco play a part in Scotland next season. A fix? What kind of strategy is that?
