12 members of the Tyneside No 1 Celtic Supporters Club will walk the West Highland Way from 31th July ro raise vital funds for MacMillan Cancer Support, HCPT and Celtic Charity Fund. The guys from Tyneside are among the most regular contributors to good causes in the name of Celtic and deserve your support. Please visit their Everyclick page.

Juninho is a lingering, gnawing uncertainty. To me it looks like his contract was for, say, £4 million over two years, and this was disclosed to the SFA/SPL. Celtic and Juninho then agreed to mutually terminate it early by way of a one off payment to a trust in his name, in March 2005. Celtic paid tax on this shortly therafter so no story to see in terms of BTC stuff Rangers were faced with. Similarly, it was before the UEFA FFp stuff came into force, so can’t see any controversy re: licensing of our participation in Europe, as there arguably is oevr the wee tax acse for Rangers.

However, the question is whether the payment to Juninho was contained in his contract of service. To my mind, it would make no sense whatsoever to pay him more than the value of his contract to beat it. The severance payment would clearly be less than the outstanding value of his salary. Therefore, all payments made to him were delcared to the SFA/SPL. In effect, we declared we would pay him £4 million, and we actually ended up paying him approximately £2,000,000, or there abouts.

Also, the SPL and SFA have the information on Juninho, and have not declared that there is a prima facie case to answer, unlike Rangers.

Rangers problem comes from them having not declared every payment made to tens of players, for many years. Theyw ere, it would seem, saying they ahd paid £x amount to x player, when in fact that player received £(x + y). Which renders the player’s registration invalid in terms of the rules on player registrations. It is remarkable that a man with a foot in both camps of this mess, I don’t need to say who, remains in post at the body with appellate jurisdiction over the, disgracefully mothballed, investigation.

  3. Sad news about Joe McBride RIP, a few years ago i met him on flight after a game. He was coming over to belfast for a csc night along with dixie deans. He was a gentleman, despite not getting a minutes peace, i just wish i had seen him play.

    kojo,

    as usual absolute drivel,

this all started by pressure from the Celtic support threatening bhoycott, I know its something you detest but people power is winning the day.

The clubs are yielding to their supporters demands, had we followed your advice it would have been left to the directors.

    Hopefully you’re right.

However, they could just as easily have said that even in the event of full detail being present from Sevco they would be against having them in SFL1.

They didn’t though, and left the door open for Sevco to provide the required info at the 11th hour.

I think they are implying they would take the leap of faith in Sevco in SFL1 IF they provided a strong business plan which would put minds at rest that they wouldn’t combust mid season and create havoc in SFL1.

  9. Do we really believe that Charlie the Trumpet’s 5 page MS PowerPoint presentation plus some other random information will be enough to persuade the SFL to let their application to Div 3 succeed?

I do not believe that Charlie boy is even trying here to run a football team. The hard core Dignity fans never wanted to be near the SPL or SFL1 , as they would get pumped most weeks… their lack of sportsmanship has driven them collectively to Div3 application, which will be refused.

Remember at every turn the opposite of the MSM viewpoint has actually occurred. No footie for the bears next year, liquidator in place, all other inquiries start-up , what’s not to like.

Can just see Chico Green and his consortium, holed up, wondering what’s coming next – with the only sound being the constant beat of a Lambeg drum in the distance.

“Those bloody natives – fiends that they are – and those damned drums….” says Chico, with the despair of uncertainty in his cracked voice.

  11. gerryguk7

Given the readiness for the MSM to expose any hint of a scandal associated with Celtic, especially in the current situation where there is an over abundance of bad news about RFC (corpus delicti), I am very confident that there isn’t even a hint of a problem for Celtic with EBTs. The MSM would have it all over the front page and never let up on it if there was perceived chink in the armour.

One of the funniest things about this whole sorry saga is that the die-hard hunnites actually believe some of the crap they put out.

They actually believe that the MSM, government officials, football authorities, HMRC etc… are all out to get them.

Just how thick-headed can you get?

It is absolutely hilarious that they don’t see anything wrong with their club officials actions yet many will have a problem with CG simply because his surname is Green.

  13. Legends never die.

To many of my generation, injury robbed us, and spared others, the consequences of an extended combination of the talents of Joe and Jock Stein’s possibly best signing , Willie Wallace.

  14. according to the BBC the vote is now 17 against the Manky Mob from the SFL clubs.

The weakness of Regan and Doncasters position is beyond parody, they will have to promise more than they can deliver to get them back on side. Once they are in, the SPL clubs can get rid of the dynamic duo and blame them for the shambles that SPL 1 &2 will become.

Expect more dramatic late night meetings and exclusive reports from Keech Jackson tomorrow morning. the pantomime continues.

Not only does the Clyde FC statement highlight the roadblock in their way of getting into SF1 but the same lack of info regarding Sevco the company would also apply to playing in the 3rd division I would assume.

Many have mentioned on here the chances of them not playing football at all this year they may well be spot on the money

The relevant part of the Clyde FC statement

Whilst the notion that there is a leap of faith to be taken in terms of some of the matters, there can be no leap of faith with something as fundamental as knowing who is being admitted to the league. The very fact that there is no information of any kind being made available on this company undermines the authorities efforts to direct the new entrant to SFL 1. It is actually impossible for any member of the SFL to make an objective assessment of the proposals under Resolutions 1 and 2 and could be seen as irresponsible to support either proposal in such a void of information.

Looking back to Joe McBride’s playing days I noticed the 1966-7 League placings. Obviously we were top, with Rangers a couple of points, but in third place were no less than the mighty Clyde with twenty wins from thirty four games and only eight defeats. With only two points for a win Clyde finished ten points behind Rangers. Did Clyde ever play in Europe? I think we should be told!

No. The inter cities fairs cup as it was at the time only allowed each city one rep in the cup. Aberdeen were in the cup winners. Cup and Huns went into fairs cup so Clyde could not enter.

The fourth place team (killie or dunfermline?) got the place.
