I did say a couple of weeks ago that the board would push for ‘yes’ but the support would be split. I guess there were simply more people swayed.

Will try to find out what the thrust of the discussions were and what agenda was being pushed: the ‘Stenny’ one or the ‘Clyde one. My guess would be the former.

Taylor’s from Forfar; the late former FIFA vice-pres David Will was from Brechin. He’d be turning in his grave at this – was a man of principle.

Thanks for that! So they missed out. I warned them they should have moved to Cumbernauld sooner!

  19. Kojo, just kidding bud, although I saw a black bear 2 days ago that had had an argument with a lorry and lost.

  20. Just chased 2 Huns and 15 mini -Huns away from my back yard!

Don’t believe me? Let me explain.

As our house backs on to a golf course we see a variety of wildlife. We get a lot of wildlife visitors and today we had a family of Gray Partridges: 2 adults and 15 little ones.

Now initially we didn’t know what they were or what they were called until we checked our Birds of Western Canada book. The birds originally came from Hungary and were called Hungarian Partridges, commonly known as “Huns” and still called that by hunters of these game birds.

Ironically, not knowing what they were or what they were called we chased them away as they were somewhat ugly.

    A Hun’s a Hun for aw that.

With the news that João Havelange, ex-president of FIFA, along with another member of the executive, Ricardo Teixeira received millions in bribes over the marketing of TV rights, I have to wonder again why SPL rights were sold so cheaply…….Is someone somewhere getting a cut?

  22. New Clyde FC Statement….

The Board of Clyde Football Club has received the papers in advance of tomorrows SFL meeting and will consider the Heads of Terms supplied. We continue to have the same fundamental concerns about this process, however the overriding concern is a point which we have made to the SFL.

We have received absolutely no information on the organisation Sevco Scotland Ltd whom we are being asked, and encouraged, to vote straight into the top division of the SFL under resolution 2 and possibly into SFL3 under Resolution 1. We have no business plan, list of directors, details of ownership, statement of capital adequacy or any proposals relating to the provision of any similar information in the near future. David Longmuir has clearly stated that he will distribute all the information he has got or is able to distribute.

Whilst the notion that there is a leap of faith to be taken in terms of some of the matters, there can be no leap of faith with something as fundamental as knowing who is being admitted to the league. The very fact that there is no information of any kind being made available on this company undermines the authorities efforts to direct the new entrant to SFL1. It is actually impossible for any member of the SFL to make an objective assessment of the proposals under Resolutions 1 and 2 and could be seen as irresponsible to support either proposal in such a void of information.

It is our hope that some credibility can be introduced to this process and we would ask that whoever holds information on Sevco Scotland Ltd provides a full and detailed pack to David Longmuir in order that, even at the eleventh hour, the SFL clubs are given reason to support any Resolutions that they might wish to vote on. We have to assume that the SFA and SPL hold such information otherwise they would not press so heavily for entry to SFL1.

If a leap of faith is to be taken, then in the current circumstances it will be taken blindly and the only logical outcome of taking that kind of risk would be to enter them to SFL3, where, should any subsequent issues arise, they will be contained within the lowest league rather than disrupting the top flight of the SFL.

The other matter that is entirely outside the gift of the SFL is the need for the SPL clubs to confirm that, contrary to what Neil Doncaster stated on their behalf, the SPL will meet its obligations to the SFL under the Settlement Agreement.

I have always said from day 1 that they should have to APPLY to get into the SFL, we need to know that there is a viable Football Club there that is able to fulfil ALL its obligations, any other way is the same old way and further down the road they could go bust and again leave people and companies high and dry por cierto

re juarez Neil Lennon is on record as saying that in the transfer window that hooper kayal stokes juarez were bought he HADNT spent more than £1.3m on any player

the £4m came from the press so it must have been right NOT!!!!!

  24. stevebhoy on 12 July, 2012 at 15:18 said:

    Re ‘club 12′

The Telegraph has suggest that the SPL is unlikely to name club 12 until a decision has been reached by the SFL in respect to which division Sevco’s future lies? The piece goes on to state: However, should the SFL vote on Sevco’s future be postponed for a week then the SPL is unlikely to name Club 12 before July 23.

The latest proposals from the SFA/SPL include the following:

Subject to The Rangers FC plc (in administration) signing a stock transfer in favour of Dundee or Dunfermline FC, a resolution will be tabled to a general meeting of the SPL to approve the registration of the transfer of that share.

I cannot see Charles Green surrendering the RFC SPL share to any club until confirmation of exactly where his team will play. Perhaps he sees the above share as a purchased asset; and like the players contracts he will not relinquish those assets without a protracted hearing by the relevant authorities.

In any event, the SFA/SPL should urgently determine the identity of ‘club 12’, failure to do so within a reasonable time only adds to the uncertainty of the SPL season kicking off with 12 teams in place. Traditionally; number 12 was allocated to a sub player, perhaps ‘club 12’ may not participate next season, only warming the bench so to speak.

Setting aside what is to become of Sevco; every fan of the remaining 11 SPL clubs should be canvassing for a legitimate fixture list for next season which contains 12 teams. Completion of the fixture list would represent significant progress.

On a more serious note, I would offer my deepest sympathy to the McBride family

(fond memories of the Wee Mill) RIP Joe

The £4m would have included transfer fee, signing on fee, agents fees and his wages over the 4 year contract. The press only add all that on for us if the players a flop. At the time of the it signing we’ve been pennypinching again and are unable to shell out big money!!!

  32. RIP Joe McBride

One of Celtics greatest goal scorers. He was Celtics top scorer the year we won the European Cup. An amazing 35 goals before Xmas and then injured and out for the rest of the year. How many goals would he have scored in that team?

Privileged to have seen him in one of his finest games at Dumfermiline on 19th Nov 66. A great battling display by Celtic winning a close match 5-4 in the final minutes. Two goals for Joe and Murdoch, Johnstone and Auld.

    Great player and natural centre
