What do I suggest we do ? There’s not much we CAN do … which is the sad, sad, sad reality of it. We can choose to enact nuclear punishment against people, or try to, but who ? All three governing bodies have colluded in this, and the removal of the people at the top of those bodies will not erase what this action does, nor will it change the outcome, which will restore NewCo to the SPL within one year with a sense of arrogance and entitlement ten times what it is now.

They will have escaped ANY sanctions at all for their part in the worst sporting scandal in the history of the game, furthermore.

The prospect makes me physically sick. “It is not football, not as I know it. It’s corrupt” to paraphrase the Raith Rovers chairman.

All I can, personally, can do is do what I promised to do, and turn my back and no longer take any active interest in the Scottish game.

  2. (re-post:)

    OUTRAGE! OUTRAGE! OUTRAGE!

Restructuring leagues etc… are merely re-morphing the same corrupt organisation (or set of organisations).

This whole sorry saga has exposed the widespread corruption in the game in Scotland, including those esteemed agencies which purport to speak the truth in their newspapers.

What should be happening at the moment is that everyone, the media especially, should be screaming out about the outrageous behaviour of everyone associated with RFC (dead-parrot).

It is outrageous that they should be even considering ‘doing a deal’ to admit them into SFL3, let alone SFL1, having failed in their efforts to gain direct entry into the SPL.

It is outrageous that they were allowed to play out last season when the football authorities knew they did not meet the financial criteria.

Most outraged of all should be Dunfermline AFC who have been consigned to SFL1, yes the same place Sevco are now aspiring to, a fate which should have been applied to RFC (dead-parrot).

It is outrageous that the governing bodies of the game are blatantly rigging the competition to enable Sevco direct (almost) entry into the top flight of the game.

It is outrageous that instead of supporting their members, the office bearers in the various associations are threatening their members to support a club which isn’t even a member.

How can it be that the MSM are not plastering this outrageous scandal all over the front pages of every edition in large, bold print?

Alas, we know the answer to that is they too are part of the corruption in the game.

If the corruption isn’t weeded out, the game is dead no matter what you do to restructure, no matter what happens with Sevco.

  3. Slan_Abhaile hater of Neil Lennon and good old republican songs:

How did you know that I was refering to you. And as for a first class dick, well thank you, much appreciated. At least I post under one name and haven’t yet put in a sick note.

  4. Nat Know

    I agree with your distinction.

I am also aware that many boardrooms, pressrooms, and official Scottish football bodies are trying to pull off a mass delusion that the USSR President is still alive and merely adopting a “Stiff as a Board” pose as a fashion statement.

I try to use Sevco, where I remember, to describe the club that is seeking to trade in future years. If they pull of the scam, I am sure they will add rangers to their name. It won’t mater much whether Rangers fans call them the 54 title winning Rangers or we call them the 0 trophies Sevco, it is the official SFA position that will be accepted as gospel.

Off to do more work now

  5. Greenjedi – Killie fan sits next to me in work , He says Johnston stated that only 36 % voted no . What he didn’t say that was that although all ST holders were emailed only 38% returned votes . So actually 36% out of 38% returns voted NO, effectively 95% of those votes returned were NO. He says Killie fans are raging with Johnston and are planning a protest at a testimonial tomorrow.

IMO PL would like the huns in Div 1,with sanctions if and when they get promoted. If they go to Div 3,Green will only pay wages to match, that includes Sally.Does he think he will be getting £500 k a year to play against East Stirling and Stranraer ?

I agree – James. Any process which allows them to swan back to the SPL within a year is definitive proof that Scottish fitba is a Hun hegemony. Failure to apply the rules , failure to punish them appropriately merely emphasizes the collusion between the so called authorities and The Hun.. Continuing to take an interest will be colluding with the idea that it’s OK for a sport to be rigged in favor of one of the participants . I won’t be doing it —–easily said / easily done when I live thousands of miles away.

The wording of that Kilmarnock statement was odd, it said only 36% voted no, but did not mention the yes vote percentage. I suspect it was 36% of all potential voters and that there were more votes for no than yes, otherwise why not give the yes figure.

    Stenhousemuir not expecting option

SFL chief executive David Longmuir said on Thursday that clubs would be asked whether they accept the Ibrox club in the SFL next Friday, followed by supplementary questions, which he did not elaborate on.

Stenhousemuir backed up Clyde’s assertion that SFA chief executive Stewart Regan had effectively left them with two options once the newco’s SPL bid failed – vote them into the First Division or there would be an SPL2 breakaway.

Stenhousemuir revealed it would vote in favour of the proposal as it would otherwise risk the future of the club.

The Second Division club issued a detailed report of the meeting which claimed the SPL values its annual broadcasting potential at £3 million ($4.55 million) if newco Rangers starts life in the Third Division.

It says SPL chief executive Neil Doncaster claimed the top flight would annually lose £17.7 million in TV rights and £1 million in sponsorship deals if the Ibrox club is out of the division for at least three years.

Regan has publicly claimed SPL clubs would lose £15.7 million a season.

Community-run Stenhousemuir said Regan set out the SFA’s position very clearly.

“As the governing body they considered that the punishment for Rangers Newco needed to be significant,” a statement fom chairman Bill Darroch read.

“The punishment they are proposing of relegation from the SPL, a one-year transfer embargo, a significant fine and the related UEFA three-year ban from Europe was fair and just.

“This did not include any subsequent punishments which may or may not be raised re the dual contracts enquiry.”

Regan has since confirmed publicly he cannot allow the game to suffer the ‘slow, lingering death’ that would be caused by Rangers relaunching in the Third Division.

Darroch said: “In reality therefore the only decision open to us and the other clubs is to a) accept Rangers Newco into the SFL, or b) refuse Rangers Newco admittance to the SFL.

“If accepted then Rangers Newco would be in Division 1. If not accepted into Division 1, it is apparent that SPL 2 will be the outcome.”

Darroch said the impact of the Govan club going into the Third Division, were it to be allowed, would end the £2 million ($3.03 million) SPL settlement payment and mean a £50,000 loss to his club.

That would force it to scrap its acclaimed youth system and could lead to administration.

He said it had been told having the Ibrox club in the First Division would mean a £3.7 million loss to the top flight, from sponsorship and overseas TV rights, plus a £1 million ($1.52 million) payment to the SFL for television rights.

Darroch said SPL2 was a genuine option, although it was not presented as a threat. The financial impact of this, said Darroch, would be at least equal to that of the Third Division option for his club and the SFL could cease to exist.

Stenhousemuir said the benefits of accepting included mergers of the two leagues, more equitable governance, potential changes to wealth distribution and play-offs into the top division.

Darroch said it would support the application on the ‘strict proviso that the various elements of restructuring and merging of the league are agreed to our satisfaction.

“For the reasons stated above, we would anticipate that the Rangers Newco would be entering at Div 1.”

When asked about Regan’s vow to ensure the worst-case scenario did not happen, Longmuir said: “The SFL clubs clearly have choices but what we plan to do is make the choices very, very clear to them by giving them the right information and to work over the next week to pull together the plan that’s going to take the game forward through this mini crisis.

“Technically the SFA as governing body have the power to influence just about every decision that is taken in the game but I believe that with proper collaboration we can get everybody onside with this.”

  17. The SPL currently pays £2M per season to the SFL as part of the settlement agreement that was negotiated when the breakaway SPL was established.

The word seems to be that no Sevco in division one = no £2M per season.

Doesn’t that put the SPL in breach of a legally binding agreement? Is that really what its Chief Executive is advising his member clubs to do?
