CQN Vanessa Riddle Fundraiser

1180

I’m enjoying the chat as much as anyone these days but I know you all remember what were really about as a club.  We have an update on the CQN Vanessa Riddle pop quiz fundraiser which will be held at Jury’s hotel, Glasgow on the evening of Saturday February 11.

The great news is that Frank O’Hagan has agreed to come along and do a set to close the quiz off. Frank’s third CD – Green Light to Freedom – will be mixed and mastered in the studio over the next month. Frank is also doing a concert with his band in the Backstage at the Green Hotel, Kinross on Saturday 18th February. Details are on Frank’s website web. Frank is a top class musician is a terrific live performer. He is also a lovely guy, so we’re just absolutely over the moon to have Frank along. Our good friends at Carling are donating some prizes too, which is also excellent news.

We have some spaces left so if you want to come along, visit Taggsybhoy’s music quiz homepage and contact him with your team name and numbers (max of 6 to a  team). He will let you know if you are successful. It is first come, first served. Vanessa Riddle Appeal

I’m off to contemplate the false value of cheap laptop hard disks. One day lost and counting, damn you HP!

Does anyone know if any steps are being taken within the football world to in some way acknowledge the disaster in Port Said last night? I thought the name Al-Ahly sounded familiar and of course they were one of our opponents at the Wembley Cup back in 2009. We simply cannot ignore it!

  5. I think Scottish Football would survive without Rangers…..I am not so sure that CQN would o:-)

  6. Heaven knows I’m a fan of the well-upholstered gal, but the Hattie Jacques thing earlier is taking things one large smock too far……..

  7. Any news on gct ?

Could a cqner please write a book about the current shenanigans, it’s fascinating.

You’ve got the villain – David Murray, if you think about it cw is just a peripheral figure

You got the old versus the new media tension

    The deluded masses

The glory days of the mighty rangers (we’ll be telling our grandchildren who rangers were-weird)

and a couple of shakespearean characatures on radio.

  8. Goodness gracious me you are a highly strung lot this evening.

    As you were :-)

Isn’t it Aberdeen fans who usually ask for their ‘eus’ back?

  9. “I can reassure the fans that any money we get in is used to run the club and nothing else. I have a personal commitment of £25 and I have never taken a penny out of the club.”

Just read your exchange this afternoon from the comfort of My Mammy’s couch!!!!

Not only that, the Exotic Moira was here too earlier on doing her Eucharistic Minister bit.

The Oul fella took the fitba teams in the early years of St Augustine’s before he started going mad with airoplanes and getting arrested by the young Pat Hammill for selling Kenomeat at an unlawful price!

As an aside, my faither in law ran THE INN across the road from St Agnes’ Lambhill for years.

As for Sir Minty– I have had no personal dealings with him but I know of many people who have formed the view that he is not a nice man– and many of them are or were season ticket holders over Govan way.

As for the rest– we wait and see………….

  12. Great stuff from Phil tonight….

    Hugh Adam ten year ago,

He is adamant that Rangers do not have the customer base to improve their financial standing through merchandising. “Rangers’ so-called global appeal is a myth,” he said. “When I was there, we did an exercise which involved asking 50,000 fans on the database to recommend a friend or a relative abroad.

“A big response was expected – some were even talking about getting 100,000 names – because everybody in Scotland seems to know somebody abroad.

“We got back 2,800 names and three-quarters of them didn’t know they had been nominated. It’s no surprise that Celtic are officially the best-supported football club in North America, with more official clubs than anybody else. The difference is the Irish connection.

Minty is nothing more than a con-man.

I wish I had kept my post from a couple of years back detailing many of those cons, and who the conned were, but it detracts nothing that I don’t.

He is a con-man,plain and simple.

Oh,and a bully too. And a few other not very nice things!

Don’t know mate but beginning to think he has been on the sauce. His clues are a bit cryptic. One thing is for sure he has ensured that Snyde will get a few followers tonight by posting Guidi, Jamba and King know, perhaps we can listen and get the scoop from them…:)

I feel that I should remember your dad, although I never had a dog!:>)

Probably, as he was a lab technician, he worked under the radar.

I captained the under 14 team, in 1958, that got to the league final. at Firhill.

We were beaten 3-4 by Clydebank High. It was our only defeat of the season. They had a great player in their team, Bobby Hope, who went on to play for WBA.

The following year, I got suspended from the school team, because i opted to play for my Boys Guild team, St. Agnes’, in a trial game v the under 15s. The guild were short of players and our old friend, Jack Monaghan asked me who I was playing for.

After I explained the player shortage, he told me that if I played for the Guild, I would never play for the school again.

    He kept his word.

Anyway, that was a long time ago and, as we know, the man had problems.

I remember when the New Inn, as it was called, opened. I lived in Cadder.

Before I got married, I worked part time in Mallon’s and have fond memories of Lambhill.

Well done on your efforts for Vanessa.

You are in danger of being scooped by Guidi. If he comes out with an ‘exclusive’ you will be yesterday’s man.

I can’t remember for sure but I seem to remember the soon to be enforced FFP criteria including clauses about administration in the last three years.

    Perhaps I am dreaming.

    ===========================

Administration is covered in FFP (I just had not the ins and outs at hand). Here is a section that relates to LIcencing.

    Article 14 – Licence

1 Clubs which qualify for the UEFA club competitions on sporting merit or through

the UEFA fair play rankings must obtain a licence issued by their licensor

according to the national licensing regulations, except where Article 15 applies. (not relevant)

2 A licence expires without prior notice at the end of the season for which it was

    issued.

    3 A licence cannot be transferred. <===MWD!!

4 A licence may be withdrawn by the licensor’s decision-making bodies if:

    a) for any reason a licensee becomes insolvent and enters liquidation, as

determined by the applicable national law (where a licensee becomes

insolvent but enters administration during the season, for so long as the

purpose of the administration is to rescue the club and its business, the

    licence should not be withdrawn);

    b) any of the conditions for the issuing of a licence are no longer satisfied; or

    c) the licensee violates any of its obligations under the national club licensing

    regulations.

5 As soon as a licence withdrawal is envisaged, the UEFA member association

must inform the UEFA administration accordingly.

Re your post from earlier. I’m pretty sure the Patoni’s have been there longer than 42 years, I’ll check up on that.

I have great memories of playing in the ‘big dip’ between Lambhill and Ruchill when visiting!
