CQN Vanessa Riddle Fundraiser

1180

I’m enjoying the chat as much as anyone these days but I know you all remember what were really about as a club.  We have an update on the CQN Vanessa Riddle pop quiz fundraiser which will be held at Jury’s hotel, Glasgow on the evening of Saturday February 11.

The great news is that Frank O’Hagan has agreed to come along and do a set to close the quiz off. Frank’s third CD – Green Light to Freedom – will be mixed and mastered in the studio over the next month. Frank is also doing a concert with his band in the Backstage at the Green Hotel, Kinross on Saturday 18th February. Details are on Frank’s website web. Frank is a top class musician is a terrific live performer. He is also a lovely guy, so we’re just absolutely over the moon to have Frank along. Our good friends at Carling are donating some prizes too, which is also excellent news.

We have some spaces left so if you want to come along, visit Taggsybhoy’s music quiz homepage and contact him with your team name and numbers (max of 6 to a  team). He will let you know if you are successful. It is first come, first served. Vanessa Riddle Appeal

I’m off to contemplate the false value of cheap laptop hard disks. One day lost and counting, damn you HP!

Aye,you could be anybody for all we know.

You could even be a new poster trying to avoid the obligitory initiation stuff.

    Ya hun!

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOPS-sorry Mr Corrigan and Mr Legless.

Anyway, the BAD news about your cracker of a moniker is….

The huns won’t cease to exist this year,or any year.

The GOOD news is that their club WILL!

  3. From Wikipedia:

Jordanes, a Goth writing in Italy in 551, a century after the collapse of the Hunnic Empire, describes the Huns as a “savage race, which dwelt at first in the swamps, a stunted, foul and puny tribe, scarcely human, and having no language save one which bore but slight resemblance to human speech.”

“They made their foes flee in horror because their swarthy aspect was fearful, and they had, if I may call it so, a sort of shapeless lump, not a head, with pin-holes rather than eyes. Their hardihood is evident in their wild appearance, and they are beings who are cruel to their children on the very day they are born. For they cut the cheeks of the males with a sword, so that before they receive the nourishment of milk they must learn to endure wounds. Hence they grow old beardless and their young men are without comeliness, because a face furrowed by the sword spoils by its scars the natural beauty of a beard. They are short in stature, quick in bodily movement, alert horsemen, broad shouldered, ready in the use of bow and arrow, and have firm-set necks which are ever erect in pride. Though they live in the form of men, they have the cruelty of wild beasts.”[7]:127-8

‘Have the highlanders got the heatin on.’

One could equally ask, ‘have the Foe Malign got the money to put their heatin on’?

Not to put it on would both ‘save money’ and avoid the post-match riots which would surely follow them getting booted out of yet another cup this season …

    Wikipedia says this about Philistine………

Philistinism is a derogatory term used to describe a particular attitude or set of values perceived as despising or undervaluing art, beauty, spirituality, or intellectualism. A person with this attitude is referred to as a Philistine and may also be considered materialistic, favoring conventional social values unthinkingly and forms of art that have a cheap and easy appeal.

not at all mate . It is perfectly natural to take pleasure when it is so freely available and at the same time increase your knowledge skills and future capability of taking the pish out of the newco ununited

Folly folly I am sure they still have fiends in what was Scottish Power and the lights will be the last thing to go off for the oldco.

I am hoping from a long drawn out public humiliation and eventual demise after Celtic take the trebel.

  11. from the late great Ian Archer

“This has to be said about Rangers, as a Scottish Football club they are a permanent embarrassment and an occasional disgrace. This country would be a better place if Rangers did not exist.”

  12. TheOriginalSadiesBhoy on

Roger Hanna on Clyde SSB last night got some of us very excited by saying that Sky might push to get Celtic into England because Celtic are seen as being a very attractive commodity by Sky particularly when playing against England’s big guns as opposed to playing the St. Mirren’s of this world which Sky would see as being less attractive and therefore not likely to generate such a good TV deal.

I’ve been pondering if perhaps Mr. Hanna was being very clever and painting a picture for the other clubs of an SPL without a defunct Rangers and Newco and also without Celtic so that what might be left would be an SPL which would be very unattractive to SKY and would only generate a very low value TV deal. The aim of this would be to encourage the other clubs to allow entry into the SPL for Newco and at the same time prevent Celtic from bolting to England.

With regards to banners about Rangers plight my own personal choice would be for Sheldon (Big Bang Theory) wearing a Celtic top and pointing to the hordes while shouting ‘Bazinga!’.

I suppose you’ve got to be a fan of the programme:-))

I was hoping not to have to use this quotation, but your shameless post above has forced my hand:

This from the legned, Willie Waddell, follow following the Barcelona riot final:

‘… After initially denying his club’s culpability, Rangers manager Willie Waddell criticised those fans who had rioted: “It is to these tikes, hooligans, louts and drunkards that I pinpoint my message – it is because of your gutter-rat behaviour that we [Rangers FC] are being publicly tarred and feathered…”’

  19. this is from the Hugh Keevins column from Sunday 24th April 2011.

I WOULD SAY THE GAME IN THIS COUNTRY ISN’T WORTH A CANDLE ANYMORE, THE GAME AS WE KNOW IT HAS GONE AND IT ISN’T COMING BACK.

so why are they so worried about the r……..s demise

Do you really believe Hanna has the ability to plant lateral ideas? The type of psychological tricks one would use to get children to do something? I doubt this very much he doesn’t strike me as the type of person who would have heard of Edward de Bono or understand the premise of lateral thinking.

I would agree that the big fear amongst the LL is that Sky will see the potential demise of Rangers as an opportunity to increase their revenue stream by lobbying for Celtic to be admitted into the English league system, Given the perilous financial state that a lot of the EPL and Championship teams are in Sky will have a very very big bargaining stick.

  21. The huns game this weekend is very close to being the most important game in their history!

Win and they have fresh income guaranted.

Loose and they have no way this season of generating any new income and will morte than likely be in Administration and perhaps even Recievership by this time next week.

Ian, you may be about to get your wish!

  22. Is Campbell Corrigan a hun? We all know folk with surnames for first names are suspect.

And did anyone notice that Huhne is an anagram of “he hun”? Bye bye Chris. What will he do without the ministerial Jag and driver?

  23. good morning all,

have not beren able to log on since just before 5pm yesterday, I take it Amdeus did not reveal the big sensation he had been promising????

on another note, i see Ki is out for a few weeks which will cut down the midfield options even more, don’t think he would have been suited to tomorrow game against the highland cluggers anyway, but it shows the importance of a big squad

Wanyama and Ledley in the middle for me with wider positions between Brown, Forrest, Commons and Samaras
