Rangers’ administrator, Paul Clark, last night released an utterly bizarre statement in response to the SFA punishment for breaking a lengthy list of rules in the lead up to and since Craig Whyte’s takeover of the club 11 months ago. Clark said:
“It appears that on one hand the disciplinary panel accepted our central argument that responsibility for bringing the Club into disrepute lay with the actions of one individual – Craig Whyte – as is evident from the unprecedented punishment meted out to him.
“During this hearing the Club produced compelling evidence from a number of sources that following his takeover, Craig Whyte ran the Club in a thoroughly unaccountable manner, rather than adhering to a long-established and proper form of corporate governance.
“The thrust of the charges against the Club focused on non-payment of payroll taxes and evidence was produced that all such decisions in this area were taken by Craig Whyte during his tenure.
“Given this evidence, it is difficult to comprehend that the disciplinary panel has seen fit to effectively punish the Club even more heavily than Mr Whyte. As everyone knows, it has already been decided he is not a fit and proper person to run a football club and any further punishment on him will have little or no impact.
“Furthermore, we do not know how bidders for the Club will react to these sanctions and what affect they will have on their proposals.”
Mr Clark should know better. Companies, including football clubs, are responsible for the corporate acts of their directors. Also, Craig Whyte owns 85% of Rangers and should he sell it in the weeks ahead, his sale price could be directly enhanced by a lesser punishment.
Moreover, Mr Whyte is also the secured creditor for Rangers. Whatever bids prospective buyers of the club submit, up to around £30m, will go directly to Craig Whyte. If this punishment reduces the value of Rangers it reduces the money Whyte will receive as a shareholder and as a creditor.
There is no point in Duff and Phelps squealing now. If they wanted to separate club from owner they should have brought more focus to the sale process weeks ago. This punishment is measured and appropriate.

Mark Hateley: 12 month transfer embargo is like a new signing.
Gone
The site was full of rubble; the club had had its day
Watching all the bulldozers, take it all away
The place was deadly silent, nothing now but dust
A requiem of sorrow for a football club gone bust
Like a phoenix from the ashes a new building did arise
A vision of supermarket trolleys right before your eyes
Two for one offers, all footballers up for sale
Murray at the checkout, a condition of his bail
Back in the SPL, a journey of three years
Supporters full of laughter, gone are all the tears
At last a level playing field involving every team
I woke up with a start! Was all a bloody dream?
who is working for who
John Kennedy seems to have started his managerial career with a bang.
Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy.
Future manager of the Bhoys.

Wash your mouth out with soap! I love Emmerdale. You go and find a football club to extinguish.
Virgin Media have just restored internet services to my neck of the woods, following another 16 hour shutdown, the second in the past 3 days.
So I am belatedly offering my condolences to Tiny Tim and his good lady for their untimely loss.

That was a nice wee surprise this morning :>)
I suppose swally could just get a bunch of loans to bulk out his squad then, as they would be exempt.
A toothless sanction, no surprise there then.
Expert on SSN saying even if HMRC lose the big tax case they would appeal so this would go on for a long time.He said liquidation probable
Dixiebhoy69….
Dungwall also called for the hun fans to take action against those who sanctioned the punishments and sponsors.
To me that means S Regan is now a target for the bullet and bombs bigots.
I hope he has stepped up his security for his family and home.
Action against the sponsors can only mean less Tennents Super being sipped at any hun dinner parties……

Hi Paul,
Spot on again, if D&P concentrated on their joab rather than playing to the Gallery they might have made contingency for this &/or any other penalties and sanctions coming down the pike.
The bidders should have been properly briefed.
Interesting that the Blanc Knight thought he had the green light from S Regan & CO. Could it just be Craig Whyte was right when he said it was the media who brought pressure to bear on their decision to lay the charges.
Not fit and proper as well as disrepute charges are by their very nature determined as much by perception as by substance.
It was by an’ large R@ngers Coterie, ex-Directors and the MSM that vilified the courageous Craig and brought the sordid story into the public domain.
The one bad apple thing was a good try but was never going to have the legs.
paolosboots
thanks for that
I think one of two things
they are totally incompetent
or
they are only part of a hun conspiracy to get all their problems swept under the SFA/SPL carpet

There is something surreal about the way it is playing out; A most undignified gutter opera. It is a national disgrace and still they don’t appreciate that there is nobody to blame but themselves.
Their vainglorious gluttony made them obese and obscene, their heart was rancid with hate and their conscience was jaundiced.
Their bigotry and their beloved quintessential right to supremacy tolled their death knells the loudest, they just refused to listen.
exquisite serenity you have a gift of capturing the moment in prose much like decaln . I always read your poetry over and over and over. Hail Hail

Yes Stevio62 , it could be kite flying as they say here in Dublin, they float the idea and punishment then check the reaction and on appeal modify or increase it. Mind u agent Whyte goading them isn’t going to have them going for the latter is it?

Declan,
deary me. TimJim and Paolosboots deliver outrageous ad hominums against your person – you are at least trois divisions above the nefarious and rotund Dingwall – yet you direct your ire at me?
I do love the subtle references to ‘voitures en pannes’ though. There was a certain deja vu about that (smile.)
I’m glad you mentioned urine, aswell, because for many of us on here, you are like a stream of bat’s p*sh – when all around is dark and gloomy, you shine out like a shaft of gold.
