Crawford Allan, you are not up to task, resign

184

I am wrought out by the refereeing Celtic endure, including the behaviour of VAR.  SFA Head of Referees, Crawford Allan, platformed himself in the media last season, to say he thought Celtic benefited from an offside decision that wasn’t made.  When the brogue is on the other foot, he is nowhere to be seen.

Referees have been poorly prepared for the introduction of VAR and seem insufficiently familiar with the Laws of the Game.    Guidance on the handball rule has either not been given or not been adhered to, either way, we have a management issue.

What you are watching is not a failure of individual referees, it is a systemic failure.  Refs have not been prepared well enough.  We are in the ridiculous situation where fans are hoping someone at the SFA can use the World Cup break to present clear guidance to officials, guidance that should be an ongoing part of referee development.

60,000 people left Celtic Park on Saturday incredulous at the performance of the referee; he is a symptom, not the problem.  Crawford Allan, you are not up to task, resign.

  1. Happy Monday!

In a taxi to airport and driver is playing what I think is some kind of Hispanic gangsta rap.

It’ll wake you up. Also, his foot is no stranger to the floor.

    HH!

  2. It could be argued Crawford Allan and the referees, are delighted with the start to VAR in Scotland ……..

  3. Said that to my mate on Saturday, It doesn’t matter who we get, they are all the same due to the guys in charge.

I think like the utd game last week, the refs are sucking the life out our team as we get no decisions and then VAR is there to knock us back with offsides or made up infringments. The guy who gave the pen against Bernie was the same guy who ran VAR and gave the pen against Matty. Imagine that.

They would rather ruin the sport than treat us fairly.

Think on that twisted mind set.

  5. KLV- if we are stuck with this nonsense, and it’s the norm,i can see me walking away from football, as a ST holder for the last 37 years……

  6. Been saying for months on here ,use foreign referees for VAR, put them on games in another country, simple to administer.

  7. I don’t think it’s about preparation, guidance or training. The issue is clearly systematic though.

There exists an institutional bias towards Celtic. And I’m not just talking about the big decisions. Our opponents find free kicks very easy to come by, much easier than we do.

VAR was a big mistake and we now have to kill it until reforms are in place to allow it to work. We should be publicly calling for referees to declare interests as is the case in almost every league in Europe.

Just look at that gobshite Douglas Ross criticising Sturgeon for using “republic” language like the north of Ireland. These men should be absolutely nowhere near a Celtic match or a huns match.

The problem is not VAR, the problem is what it has always been; institutional bias.

I said after the Hearts game ,VAR is killing the game .

Game stopping for minutes at a time ,supporters have to wait to celebrate a goal.

The referee at Paisley on Saturday looking at the monitor for a ridiculous amount of time ,then deciding he would better give Sevco a penalty to keep on the right side of his paymasters.HH

  9. The media have been surprisingly vocal on this.

However, there’s a danger that we lose the underlying reason within the whole ‘VAR is the issue’ point.

Bbc were discussing how every ball into the box now could result in a spot kick. The penalty we weren’t awarded v Hearts shows this to be untrue.

Completely agree that Alan Crawford is part of the problem. He’s also surprisingly quiet these days.

Next thing will be some press briefings around the unacceptable pressure the refs are being put under. We need to ignore the smokescreen

Crawford’s balls , This is the guy that cut his holiday short to comment on a specific Kyogo goal that wasn’t disallowed for offside.

Good luck with your latest letter Michael.

Yes, since VARs introduction I have seen a number of “strange” decisions in games not involving Celtic and heard other managers complain about it, so it could be described as a “systemic issue”.

However, can you guess a team in the SPFL who has yet to have been disadvantaged by it?

I’m sure you will not need three guesses.

  13. From a TOTALLY Selfish point of view, I am HAPPY that several Celtic players are missing out in World Cup Squads.

We are gonna need our Bhoys to be rested and refreshed ahead of the rest of the Season, starting against Aberdeen on December 17th.

    Fair enough Paul.

If the plan is to clear out the stables …

… might as well begin with the removal of the head horse with the worst case of diarrhoea.

One thing to add to your leader if I may.

    Agree change needs managed.

When change is not managed one thing ALWAYS happens in the short term.

Target change audience ignore the change and stick to the status quo.

The cultural status quo within the SFA refereeing community is dominated by one overpowering message

    “Brothers …

You will NOT suffer any detriment if you give a decision for Sevco or against Celtic.

    Handshakes all round”
